Why haven't you taken the projector pill, anon? Projectors in the last 20 years have advanced much faster than TVs. It is THE way to watch 4k movies, giant screen, with a good sound bar or sound system. You get all the detail out of 4k disc from a massive 80"-150" screen. You don't even have to deal with lugging around a big ass TV anymore since they're all smaller manageable boxes now. It used to be you couldn't watch shit in the daytime and now all real (meaning not no name brand Amazon Chinese garbage) projectors work in daylight. There are also so many different materials for screens now. Also I'm going to post some random projectors advertisements from no name brands on Amazon using AI.
Any without smart garbage built into it though? With actual screens that's getting harder and harder to find (they are even going for computer monitors)

>>222784577Yes there are several. I think most Optima and ViewSonic and Epson and BenQ don't have smart shit. XGIMI and Nebula and Valerion have smart shit but they use Google TV which means you can load a third party boot up app so you never have to deal with the smart shit. The BenQ w4001i comes with a HDMI smart device that you can just not use. And doesnt need to be plugged in. What do you mean about actual screens? Like projector screens? Yeah they're much harder to find now but Amazon still carries a few good brands like Kodak (very nice smaller matte screens) and Silver Ticket, if you want a fuckhuge one.

>>222784763If they're not original bulbs they won't last as long. If you like the projector style I highly suggest just moving on to LED, Laser, or LED/Laser Hybrids. The "bulb" will last around 10 years before you notice any type of dimming. I do have a bulb one that got its internals fried after a storm. It was super bright and sharp but now I have a triple laser.

My current one does but I have a "burner" email attached to it, and I only sign into the apps through a website link on my phone and not entering login details into the projector. Have as much analytics and ad shit disabled as possible. But I also have my PC connected on Input 2 so, so you just bypass the smart menu. Its not as intrusive as a television, which seems to lag and slow down very quickly after a little bit of use of the smart crap. Also yeah I'm keeping my dumb monitors and TVs. I refuse to buy a smart TV.

>>222784806I mean, they're from the manufacturer (Optoma) and they do hit their advertised hours (4,000) before half-life, but the bulb that came with projector gave me just under 9k before it got dim... and it's "dim" was nowhere near as dim as the replacement bulbs have been. I use my projector as a TV though, so it's pretty high hour all things considered.That's why I haven't upgraded to laser yet because you can't replace the light source there, you just kinda have to get a new one.

Otherwise a smooth white is a good choice. I have a light grey screen for deeper black contrast. These can be bad if your projector is not bright enough, but mine is giga bright so that light grey turns into white when I have the lamp at setting 10.Built in speakers are not necessary but most of them come with them now, and some of them are pretty decent if you just want to watch YouTube or a sitcom. Its important to get something that fits your needs, especially inputs like HDMI, 3.5mm, optical audio, hdmi slots, USB slots. Like most new TVs, most new projectors have less and less input options. Mine has two, input 1 for my 4k player and input 2 has an HDMI splitter connected to it for my PC and vidya.Last post, taking a nap.
>>222784993Ah maybe it could be a different bulb? Yeah I used my Optoma like a TV and had no problems with it until a brown out. Now using the laser projector as my 12 hour a day TV. Its nicer because less heat and noise plus it's more solid start and can just turn on and off without needing the cool down or warm up modes of the optoma. The LED and Laser bulbs basically have 10 year life spans and THEN they MIGHT start dimming. I forgot the numbers but basically you can run them 6 hours a day every single day for 12 years, as "average" use before dimming starts.
