It’s not because they were good, it was because they were popular and easy to be parasitic towards. Those Friedberg /Seltzer parody movies were just that, them being parasites towards the new ‘in’ movies (they even made parodies of movies before they had even been released). Stinkers like Twilight even got a parody movie in the same style back then.
