Honestly, a decline in standards/talent. Dolly Parton released her first album in 1966 after more than 10 years of active songwriting, and she didn't appear in her first film (9 To 5) until 1980 - 14 years later!

Compare that to simply flashing your bits. You can see how women less hard-working than the actress Dolly Parton might take the easier option.
