>The time of heroes is dead, Wiglaf - the Christ God has killed it, leaving humankind with nothing but weeping martyrs, fear, and shame.

>let's forget the actual poem was written by a medieval monk
>let's forget the poem has many references to the Bible
>let's forget the hundred years of wars fought in the name of the Lord
>let's forget all literal saints and heroes who died fighting for christianity

classical jewish tactics right there in a mostly entertaining movie
>>

sorry but how could any of those points have come up in a movie about prechristian mythology?
>>
>>222793457
Christianity was already a proper, ROMAN religion during those years. The movie tries to pull this "muh pagan heroes" shit when nordics in reality embraced christian beliefs and gave up on their shitty caveman archaic cults.

The Roman emperors invented christianity to be a mystery cult to subvert the jews.

well, after looking it up, you're right. I thought the period of Beowulf was prechristian but more like 6th century apparently.

I am raising an eyebrow right now. not really but if i could do that I would, so imagine i have one eyebrow raised.

The age of heroes wasn't killed by Christianity, because it was already an age of decline, as Beowulf (the poem) implies. So the theme of Beowulf is really death as inevitable fate, not death as injustice. The poet values the age of heroes not because he prefers it to his own, but because he values the memory of his ancestors. But he makes clear that their paganism ultimately left them without hope, as opposed to Christianity.

For a moment Christ was allowed to be a warrior skateboarding on lions and dragons, bu then people actually reading the scripture resubverted the faith back into slave morality.

at least pagan deities are capricious, fickle, hedonistic and unpredictable. that all at least reflects the universe as it is and always has been.

a deity that is both omnibenevolent and omnipotent is simply impossible.
>>

You don't really understand what Christ represents. He is strength, might and the will to bear endless pain. He is THE supreme commander of the armies of heavens. When the Apocalypse comes, Jesus himself will ride on a horse wielding a sword and leading his solders to the ultimate battle.

The "slave morality" meme is beyond retarded, when the death of Christ is what us free from sin

>christian god is omnibenevolent
>christian god is not fickle
you should read the bible. just the first and last books
>>
>>222794125
Pure fanfic by later authors. His actual ministry was about fraternising with malcontents and poors and telling them their pitiful weakness was actually key to eternal rewards so they should just wallow in misery until death.
>>
>>222793751
how did that work out for the romans

What. That doesn't make sense. It says in the Bible that with the crucifixion that Jesus already beat Satan. An even then in the Bible it also says only 1/3rd of the angles fell with Satan...that in ur elementary mind means there are still 2/3rds with God.....pfft not really a battle when the opposing force has superior numbers.

I'm afraid you don't really understand what Christ represents. He is the lamb slain at the foundation of the world, and you are an amoral cannibal who subsists on the tormented flesh of Christ. Christ forgives you, and you are free from sin, precisely because you are a dumb animal incapable of doing what is right for the right reasons.
>>
>>222793760
That is prechristian for that part of the world, it didnt make it up towards the scandis until 8th century and they didnt really convert til the 10th and later.
Now the written version of the poem that we got was written by a christian in the 11th century but it certainly existed well before that in oral form.

THIS
If it's made by Hollywood and Gibson isn't doing it, it's going to kick dirt all over God's name.

It was a product of the 2000s. People were sick of hysteric religioids from the 90s soccer moms and screaming Allahu Akbar terrorists, especially in shartland, and made the Cult of Reason epic n cool.

Just look at how Zack Snyder's 300 shat on religion as holding both the Spartans and Easterners back from the light of reason.
