It's very simple, during WW2 all of the US establishment was pro war and joined together to destroy those who weren't and created a massive multimedia propaganda apparatus to convince the population the war was good. Much of the US entertainment industry was Jewish controlled and/or communist sympathizers so the united struggle with the Soviets against the Nazis was carried by the entire industry in accordance with the government. Iraq vets have never seen any close combat, if a rifle shot rang out 2km away in some village they just called in artillery and A10 support to raze it.
