They should've just animated this fucking thing. Yes. The musical has amazing ballet. That cartwheel by Rumpleteaser and Mongojerrie is very hard to do. Mr. Mistoffolese' conjuring turns are cool. But it's also limited. This should've been a series of cartoon shorts 20 or 30 years ago. Could've been the next Fantasia.
I like four things from this movie. I like how idris elba's Macavity comes in at the end of his song and puts everyone in a trance and I like how everyone assumed Mongojerrie worked with himI also like the way they would refer to each other by their names in the nonmusical segments>are you miss anypennydots? >great job Gus!Etc. And I like the Skimbleshanks segment. Fun fact: the reason the lyrics repeat in Mister Mistoffolees' song is because they want the audience to chant along. Like the versions of Peter Pan where they go "i do believe in fairies. I do. I do."I am so gay for knowing this much about musicals.
