funnier than the state and kids in the hall
No.
UCB isn't really funny at all.t. Australian, gf made me watch it in the early 2000s.
>I'll dip my balls in it!>I'm Doug and you're dad, and I'm outta... outta... outta here!>We're you born in a barn? The State is kino.
>>222809750no, not true in the slightest
>>222809750I could never get into this weird Canadian shit.
>>222812127no, UCB are American
>>222809750For me it's early Titté Brothers. Don't know about the other program but the KITH claim is just plain false. KITH itself really is one of the very best sketch comedy TV programs overall, better than Whitest Kids You Know (which had plenty funny bits but which was a bit edgier at times), on par with Monty Python, and also gives Mr. Show a run for its money, and I think surpasses that one (Mr. Show has plenty of great stuff, do yourself a favor if you haven't watched it).
>>222809750this and Strangers with Candy on the same night was the best period of Comedy Central, if you know you know
>>222809750Comedy Central cancelling UCB after season 3 and replacing it with Battlebots was one of the greatest comedy atrocities of the century
>>222814155it never made sense to me why that show was on comedy central, at least when they did lets bowl (which they also said "comedy central sports presents") that show was comedic with the one straight laced host but his co-host is some guy playing a crazy character, battlebots didnt have any comedic elements to it
The antisemitic jokes on this show were wild
>>222814322https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V246ECBdGpIBesser always played a good sniveling whiny jew
>>222809750Funnier than The State, sure. Kids in the Hall is far higher up though. Same with Mr. Show. I loved UCB but it just wasn't up there with the true greats. Ass Pennies and Titular Line were a couple of my favorite sketches.
>>222811175>arent you worried about AIDS
>>222814380I’m convinced he was blacklisted for his involvement with this show
>>222809750
>>222814392cringeand utterly homosexual (you)
KITH went places no other show went.
>>222814380you can spot some early day UCB students of that time before they were famous in the audience in this episode like Rob Corddry Paul Scheer and Nick Kroll, Corddry the easiest to spot since hes right next to besser
>>222814460Damn, he was just always bald. He stole the show in Hot Tub Time Machine.
>>222814322UCB introduced me to the concept of the hole in the sheet.
>>222814420yeah to me Besser was easily the funniest one who i woudlve thought would become the most famous but hes the one who feel most off the map as far as TV goes compared to the other 3. i think hes known as kind of an asshole and a hard guy to get along with according to people whove worked with him or taken his classes at UCB, a lot of them accusing him of being problematic and gay shit like that didnt like his use of offensive language and slurs in his comedy or in his lecutres lol sounds based to me but probably hurt his career in gay ass hollywood
>>222814482but Paul Scheer right above him with a full head of hair, weird to see him young with hair, but yeah Corddry looked 45-50 even in his 20s lol
The Human Giant was pretty cool sometimes. I liked the theme music.
>>222810020fpbp
>>222814482when Corddry was on the daily show like 20 years ago he has the worst balding pattern i ever seen lol why didnt he shave the weird lonely turf of hair on his forehead?
>>222814528Yep, seemed odd to me that even Ian Roberts was getting cameos while I can’t recall seeing Bessee in anything but UCB. Maybe it was by choice on his part.
>>222814632I think bald men should just bald naturally and keep their hair cut just like he did. Shaving parts of it or all of it off is some kind of cope.
>>222814693Besser was the creator of Hardballs, that faux debate show where real pundits were arguing with improv actors
>>222814420>>222814528This, it's very weird. He's way too talented to not have more of a career. Pretty sure I only know of him getting some roles on Poehler's cartoon The Mighty B and that's it.
>>222814693Yeah, Besser fell off. I saw a really cringe stand up special which was entirely about him being a huge stoner a couple years ago. I'm sure that has something to do with it. He has a podcast too. He's just more of an acquired taste I think.I never see Roberts in anything either though. I was glad Walsh got that run on Veep. And he stars in a movie David Cross directed where he plays a racist, upstate NY chud. It lampoons them and also Brooklyn hipsters. The whole thing is free on Youtube. It's a good watch:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOVR1KwhxPE
>>222814739That was a great show.
>>222809750For me, it was this
>>222814787Is it Run Ronnie Run?
>>222814739oh yeah damn Crossballs that was great, he was the guy who had the most prank element in his stuff he had the best bits in the hidden camera segments from the UCB tv show too (i had his prank call CD i bought off the UCB website back in the 2000s, picrel was the album cover) i remember think that would be the next great comedy central show then it was gone after that summerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XGKgQ8jJC4i remember the drugs episode being particualrly hilarious>lady: youre a jeopardy to soceitry!>besser: yeah? well youre a wheel of fortune to society!that exchange always stuck with my as hilarious and a great example of how hilarious besser was at fucking with people in his prank stuff
>>222814841No. That's just the only picture of anyone involved that I have. It's called 'Hits'.
>>222814787yeah even Ian i feel like should be in more stuff, he was always a great comedy straight man (he usually brought a more intense anger to his straight man roles than typical wimpy pushover comedy straight men) he was great in his cameos in Arrested Development as the literal doctor and when they added him as a new character in the later seasons of Reno 911
>>222814919That doesn't even look like him.
>>222809750Normies couldn’t into the absurdist comedy. Ass pennies. Bug juice. Bucket of truth. So many bangers
>>222814787i wonder if Matt Walsh the chud guy from the internet having the same name as him hurts his career in recent years lol
>>222814944yeah when he first was on Reno i remember being shocked how much weight he gained (on the old UCB show he was the most athletic looking one who always playing jock types or guys with their shirt off cuz he was the most in shape) but when they did the reboot in more recent years he looked slimmer again and looked more like how he used to look just older
>>222814959>>222814998anyone rememeber this show? i watched it the time cuz it was a new show from Walsh and Roberts but didnt have high hopes since it was on Spike TV but i remember it actually being better than i thought it'd be, kinda hard to find now i think i remember finding a torrent of it somewhere years ago ill have to see if i still have it saved on a HD of old tv shows
>>222815029i remember liking Martin & Orloff tho i havent seen in it years so i barely remember it now, I recall Jon Benjamin as their insane friend who always shits in sinks everywhere they go being my favorite character
>>222814528i remember some years ago the blue haired twitter bridage (bitter improv kids probably mad he wouldnt put their shows up at UCB most likely) trying to get him cancelled because their were at an ASSCAT (the UCB improv show that was like their signature show in the old days of the theater) that Besser would regularly use the n word and other slurs in improv scenes lol based
>>222815136i remember someone out there claiming they had old footage of 2000s improv shows there with famous people like Amy Poehler, Horatio Sanz, and Tina Fey using the n word all the time in old improv shows at UCB, they said something like they probably could cancel more than half the NY improv world if the tapes from shows between 98 to 2010 were ever to come out lol
Bump
on the UCB season 2 dvd commentary, i think besser, roberts, poehler, and walsh all tried to name executives or people at comedy central who fucked them over somehow. the names were all bleeped out so you cant tell who exactly they are talking about. i thought at the time they were just joking, but the season 3 dvd barely got a physical release. probably done in retaliation for all the grievances they aired. anyway i love this show and still think about it often. whenever i see amy poehler in movies or tv now, i think of her as the trailer trash lady with blurred out saggy tits.
>>222814959i hope not, i wouldn't want the same name as some racist podcast influencer. He was great on Veep.
>>222817734I'd lost track of him for years and don't go online much and I'd heard the name and assumed it was him. Jay Johnston went to the dark side. Jim Breuer, a few others. I was relieved to finally find out it was a totally different guy.
>>222810020fpbpUCB was awful>>222814110There was also Exit 57 and Small Doses, I liked them>>222814282This and "Don't Forget Your Toothbrush" were bad, that was when I knew CC was running out of gas
>>222817734he was on Jay Mohr's podcast a few months and Jay said when he announced Matt Walsh as a guest he got all these angry DMs like "how dare you have that fucking asshole on your show! unsubscribe!" and Jays like "WTF did the guy from veep do?" not realizing theres that tranny obsessed guy from youtube with the same name lolhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cxzkpbevNYspeaking of picrel was an underseen matt walsh gem (also with pre hangover famous Zach and that nerd dude from Wet Hot American Summer and that chick ive seen in stuff too but cant think of anything specific at the moment) even after comedy central cancelled the UCB tv show they still did a lot of one off shows on the channel for a while in the 2000s
>>222818149That's Glen Tennis.
