>overshadowed in its 4th weekend by the Austin Powers sequelNot exactly the next Titanic, as people expected
>>222810143I was 24 when it came out and saw it opening weekend and remembering how deflating it was and how quiet people were filing out of the theater. It permanently turned me off of Star Wars
i have never watched a single star wars movie
>>222810287It was so insanely overhyped that it took people all the way until Episode III for people to understand George's brilliance. Nothing could be SW 1977, and George was solely interested in showcasing new technology and Natalie's porthole.
at least SOMETHING kino came out of it
>>222810143you lost, tranny
>THE FUCK DID YOU SAY ABOUT MY MOVIE BITCH?>AAAAA I'm sorry mr lucas sir please let me go!
i recall die hard star wars fans lining up to see this, it was a big event, but then the non-superfans not really liking it that much. i remember thinking it was entertaining but not as good as i had hoped, there were a lot of people upset by jar jar binks or whatever. not sure what people think of it now.
>>222810143saw it when I was like 8 with my mom in the theater and we both really disliked it. never heard a single positive thing about this movie other than "dude duel of the fates and the fight at the end xD" and "podracing! xD" until the absurd revisionism of emotionally stunted zoomers and zoomlennials
