You don't understand. Janeway talked gently to Seven of Nine once and because I'm autistic, I misinterpret vocal tones and mistook her sympathy for romantic interest. I've built my entire life around decisions like these because I am a fucking idiot.

You guys saw how excited Spock was when Kirk wasn't dead in Amok time. That means they're gay because... I don't have any friends. Get it?

Movies 79-91
TNG 87
DS9 93
VOY 95
ENT 01

star trek was kept alive by producing a steady stream of new high quality content for 3 decades.
>>
Female fans of Star Trek TOS were the original shippers, their love for the show was based around their view of Kirk wanting to get RAILED by Spock. Even some of the novels were written by women with this agenda, and it got to the point where Roddenberry had to have Kirk debunk it in The Motion Picture novelization, but he only made it seem more gay by introducing the "thy'la" concept and implying Spock was asked about it in-universe and didn't deny it. Since then, generations of women in fandom have done this with male characters in so many different shows and stories.
TNG and DS9 got away from the gay stuff but VOY is popular with lesbians. ENT finally made Star Trek straight again with the best couple only to break them up and kill Trip, but the fujos still got their yaoi hands all over it by centering a whole episode on male pregnancy. The Kirk and Spock stuff got a revival with the Abrams films and of course nuTrek is written by fag theatre kids, although interestingly they have made Spock into a man-whore fucking every woman imaginable so Trek became so gay it was straight again, but it's based on The Cage which was all about male/female relationships and BASED traditional gender roles
>>
>>222824302
>We let it happen and cheered it on. How did it get this way?
We would've been unable to stop it at any time if the network had been dumb enough to force it upon us. The streaming services hold all of the cards now. It used to be advertisers, which also empowered local affiliates but that system no longer exists. They can churn out all of the disgusting subversive slop that they want and even if nobody watches it, ultimately it doesn't really matter as long as they have a few things that makes people subscribe to the service.

Netflix is basically a dumping ground for this kind of content and Paramount is following that model.

>don't ask me to elaborate how though all I can tell you is I'm mad
You're either retarded or deceitful.
Anyone who has interacted with a show with a retarded queer shipping fanbase knows they eventually start talking about how not giving into their fake fanfic is morally evil.
If the creators shut down their non-canon gay shipping, they are accused of homophobia. If the creators don't care about non-canon gay shipping, the same retarded shippers will accuse the creators of 'queerbaiting' for not shutting them down. The creators and actors can tell them that a character isn't gay and their delusional bullshit will start crying about 'coding' and 'erasure'.
They will take any inch a creative gives them as fanservice as an absolute, but if a creative tells them their bullshit shipping co-option is annoying and false, they will cry and accuse them of moral evil. Star Trek has done a decent job of keeping shipper co-option minimal, despite their constant attempts. They give all female fans a bad name. You can not give these vultures an inch.
David Gerrod, eternally correct with
>These women use scenes from the episodes and specifically from the Star Trek movies to justify their belief that this is the secret message of Star Trek... their projection of their own sexual fantasies onto Star Trek has at times been a nuisance for those who actually have to produce the show.

There's also Peter David's blog post "What the Hell is Wrong with Fans?" about how harmful these type of fans can be nowadays, for those interested in the topic.
>But the difference between now and then is that slash fans were a subset of Trek fandom and that’s all they were. [...] Now we’re in a different mindset, though. Now fans seem to believe that not only should their views be reflected in the series, but if they aren’t, then the producers are doing something wrong.

I remember reading a theory somewhere that the original TOS females fans are a Ven diagram with three sections being 1) genuine sci-fi fans, 2) 60's hippies who liked Gene's sex themes, and 3) buddy cops fans, who viewed TOS as a buddy cop show in space.
Before TOS, the buddy cop fans were probably watching The Man from UNCLE, and after TOS they moved onto Starsky and Hutch.
Slash fans seemed to be the intersection of 2 and 3. The ones who wrote the licensed novels seemed to be right in the center of all three.

I started watching Trek in like 2007 or something when the first reboot was in filming but not completed and there was still a bit of hope around it.

But when I watched TOS, TNG, DS9, ENT and VOY for the first time, there was no nostalgia attachment for me. And as the newer stuff came out, JJ Trek and Kurtzman Trek, I instantly recognized it as being vastly, vastly inferior.
It's a completely different philosophy of television/film in general for those guys. Star Trek has always been driven by great writing and JJ, Kurtzman, and Orci have always had writing as a weakpoint.

So is Future's End a self-erasing paradox that only the Voyager crew subjectively experiences? Or is the Ed Begley character responsible for the computer revolution of the prime timeline? Even Memory Alpha doesn't seem to be sure, categorizing Chronowerx Industries under "alternate timelines" while also saying it caused the Computer Age.

I think since it was caused by an intervention from the 29th century (after the temporal prime directive was established) the time police people would remove those events from the prime timeline.

Time travel events that happened before the establishment of the TPD would be left alone, like Scotty "inventing" transparent aluminum during a time travel event to the 80s.
>>
>>222828906
they didnt prevent the original time ship crash. so thats how microprocessors were invented in-universe. it doesnt really change anything but it does present a slightly more advanved 1996 than real life and doesnt directly conflict with the original 1990s eugenic war timeline.
time travel is always going to leave holes but its fine as long as they dont try to do something retarded like change the entire history of a 60 year old franchise to synch it up with current year for literally no reason.

Really, alternate timeline versions of anyone in any franchise shouldn't exist. If your dad coomed at just a slightly different angle and/or point in time then you would have completely different genes.

The Prophets transcend dimensions.
Kira and Bashir ended up in the mirror universe to begin with via the wormhole.
>>
>>222829649
The vast majority of any potential alternate timelines wouldn't be remotely recognizable. Some particles from the big bang going half a degree in a different direction could completely change how whole galaxies form.

It’s so bizarre seeing Deep Space 9 advertised to children. You need lived experience to fully enjoy DS9. It’s a lore more mature/introspective than TOS and TNG.

I was reminded that Starfleet Academy exists, and then remembered the trailer had something about Sisko. Is that episode worth watching or is it more lore rape?

I'd say it's one of the weaker academy episodes. They make it clear Sisko never really came back to Jake and Casidy and there's some pretty awful mistakes present in the museum scene. Seing Ciroc as Jake again was cool tho but yeah, watch Vox In Exelso instead

That tagline was doubly stupid for the fact that TFF wasn't an action movie by any sensible understanding of the term, and that even in the world of Star Trek they don't see a need for seatbelts.

being a Trill should just be like being a guy that has lived a very long time and therefore experienced a lot of things. there is absolutely no reason for them to be acting like they have multiple personalities or whatever the fuck DS9 tried and failed to do. Trill work for one gimmick episode where it falls in love with a human and changes host. when you actually try to flesh them out you quickly realize how fucking retarded of a concept they are. unless you're a DS9 showrunner in which case you make a Trill part of the main crew and then cast an actor who doesn't have a prayer of ever pulling it off because she's just hot and literally nothing else. but you didn't even need that because you already cast Nana Visitor who logs her anyway.

I will die on this hill. If your entire species is a war species, then war songs sound like K-Pop ***TO YOU*** because of the mindset you're in. Think of it as a universal translator, that's what war opera sounds like to THEM.

>What was this arc?
Plausible deniability about Ferengi being a stand-in for Jews was no longer possible, and they were forced to soften the Ferengi's image and turned them into progressive comedy characters.

Even Quark gets reduced to being a total simp by the end of DS9.
