Nothing about this movie is particularily deep other than what people read into and usually way too much. It's a mood movie, or a vibe movie or whatever kids say these days. The world is what sells the movie for most people, the atmosphere, the mood, the music. The story and characters, while perfectly servicable, is merely what pushes the movie forward.

I saw it first time when I was 14 and I was all ready heavy into anything cyberpunk at the time so this move was everything I dreamt of in a movie. It's not without flaws, it's slow, the characters and performances are a bit stiff, the story is pretty thin, but the atmosphere, music, production and set design is what made me love this movie.
