Now that the dust has settled, what did /tv/ really think of this?
the only lasting memory i have from the show is mcnutty crashing his car
>>222863009Nice dolphins >>222863014The waitress scene came after
Rawls is a faggot
>>222863009It's pretty much reddit meets netflix meets globohomo feminism. Basically it's feminism the show made to hypnotise the viewer into thinking "white men bad" and "POC women good". There isn't really much more to this dreary show than that.

I'm watching the 1st season of The Wire and I just got done watching the episode where DeAngelo teaches the younger kids chess. I was blown away! I had to watch it a couple times to really pick up on it, but did you guys realize that when he was teaching them about the chess pieces, he was really referring to THEM being the pawns! It was so deep and meaningful, I am amazed by the deep symbolism of this.Do the later seasons continue on with masterful symbolism like this? This was truly the pinnacle of storytelling that I have ever seen on a television show, and I think I can confidently say The Wire is the best show ever made without even having seen the entire series. The acting is great too. Dominic West and Idris Elba really do a great Baltimore accent.
>>222863169I don't think he was being sarcastic.
>>222863115If you would have actually seen the show you would have seen how black pilled it actually is
I still think it's a plothole that they just heard the name Omar for the first time in season 1 but then he immediately becomes a mythological figure

>>222863226Breaking Sopranos Men
>>222863009Over time I found it was hilarious how criticism of the show for being "woke" or "leftist" kept propping up, when the entire show is about how inner-city leftist policies are fundamentally bad down to their core and all levels of state and society.>>222863115You're dumb and "people" who invoke outside sites on 4chan need to go back and stay back.
>>222863253His depression spiral started when he realized his cock was too big to get it in the duck
>>222863222He robbed a stash house without killing anyone. the survivors would act like he was a force of nature to hide the fact they’re weak and stupid.
>>222863226I think people often have different number ones but Wire is pretty consistently number 2, even for people with different number 1s.
>>222863222>I still think it's a plothole that they just heard the name Omar for the first time in season 1Because up until then his boyfriend hadn't accidentally blurted out his name during a robbery. After that he survived long enough to become mythologised.
>>222863121The entire "Fuck scene" when Bunk and McNutty are sweeping that apartment.
>>222863226anon was obviously referring to The Sopranos, though for me The Wire edges by a hair.
>>222863226Sopranos obviously, it doesn't get any better than that. However the 2nd spot goes for Shield, not Wire, I prefer the humor and the last season is superior.
This dudes voice is kind of annoying but he made excellent sopranos/wire/shield content for years. Unlike all the AI slop channels that are out there now. He breaks down why Omar lasts 5 seasons. https://youtu.be/Xdxd-OBNiEo
>>222863497Can we finally agree that Sopranos, Wire and Shield are the holy trinity of /tv/?
>>222863497For the life of me, I cannot stomach these analysis videos. I guess I'll just need to stick to my own interpretations, and those of my best friends on /tv/.
>>222863515Shield is gayslop
>>222863521For me, it's Wire-Sopranos-Mad Men. I can understand preferring The Shield over MM, though, and will abstain from mentioning it again in this thread so as not to summon schizophrenic pedophiles with a chip about smoking.

>>222863226It's>sopgunanos>the shield>breaking bad>the wire
>>222863524The shield can be slop but its entertaining as fuck. The acting and main plotline carry the show through some of the weaker moments and side stories and pacing problems.

Thats been going on since moses wore short pants
>>222863738Mayor Carcetti talking about Royce's golden parachute. I think S5E4.
>>222863702This, the acting is usually top notch and it's a shame not many recognize this. Hollywood stars' appearences like Whitaker or Close aside, most of the cast gave pretty great performances: Chiklis, Goggins, Karnes, Pounder, Marciano... I always thought that this was one of the main reasons why it's better than Breaking Bad.
>>222863194There is a theme in each season and season 1 is the weakest one imo. But themes do get much more interesting and yet remain organic with overall series plot
>>222863159it was thrown in later seasons as a libtard brownie point>see, this show about nigs nigging is not racist. We have a fag-in-chiefits so bolted on that in no way does the Rawls character ever even foreshadow something like that in the first seasons. He was a quick witted police bureaucrat and competent cop if he actually ever did any field work once in a blue moon

>>222863515Shield isn't even in the same league and I don't know why people keep bringing it up. It's a silly show for silly peopleThe trinity is obviously Sopranos, Wire and Breaking Bad
>>222863833Don't forget Anderson as Antwon, best villain in the entire series. And yeah, it's the most political season but come on, it had ton of action and drama too.>>222863852You could have make a point since Shield isn't for everybody, that's why most elitists dislike it, but bringing up Breaking Bad destroyed your argument.
>>222863922>bringing up Breaking Bad destroyed your argumentWhy, Breaking Bad isn't a silly show for silly people. It's full of action but that doesn't make it dumb
>>222863852Id rank the wire slightly above the sopranos and the shield slightly above breaking bad.

>>222863009it's so good that things that wouldn't seem out of place on every other tv show (chess analogy, Omar the magic nigga, Brother Mouzone) get absolutely memed to death by those seeking to find fault with it
It is a really good show
>>222863222Bubbles states in season 1 to Kima that Omar has been operating for years and expresses surprise that she hasnt heard of him (or his brother, for that matter).
The Wire is realism while The Sopranos is cartoon
>>222864112Mouzone I agree was out of place the other 2 id say fit The chess comparison was Bodie, right? He was appropriately aged to be making silly comparisons like that as he reconciled his position in life.
>>222864108Great list, I cry like a bitch every time Bubbles gets up those stairs at the end.
>>222864125"muh realism" is a midwit's rallying cry

>>222863009Finally watched a few months ago after hearing nothing but slurping for 20 years, and it actually exceeded expectations. Don't really have a favorite shows list outside of my #1 but I have no qualms saying it's in my top 5, maybe 3Rule #1 is having great/likable characters and the show had like a dozen when you're usually lucky to get to 2-4. The shows it always gets lumped in with on the all time list (Sopranos/BB) had maybe 2.5 combined and were all dead or written out by the midpoint, and I couldn't finish either one of them
>>222864118>Bubbles states in season 1 to Kima that Omar has been operating for years and expresses surprise that she hasnt heard of himMcnutty too, but jimmy knows all about him. Kima was just a naecotics officer then not a homicide detective. >not my department
reminder this show was critically panned its entire run and only when obongo endorsed it in 2009 did anyone start paying attention to it and considered it the best ever because that's what the obongo cult doesi can't remember a single memorable scene or character in the wire. terrible writing
>>222864125>Implying sodomites are not inherently cartoonish.

>>222864554>blames obama
>>222864652It's the best season. Same with The Shield where S4 is the best but gets hate for some reason.
How much court/lawyer stuff is in The Wire? I hate legal dramas.
>>222864954Some scenes of lawyers making deals in their offices. One scene of a gangster nigger epically owning a jewish lawyer in a trial. One scene of a nigger politician talking himself out of a grand jury case. I think that's about it

>>222865157Like Proposition Joe just gives Marlo all the connects to launder the money and supply that Joe has no leverage or reason to keep Marlo alive. His death felt a bit rushed even though I knew it was like the last season and his arc has to be ended
>>222864554>obongo cultAre you still borrowing your wifes bronzer makeup?
>>222864325it's the rare tv show that feels as rich as a novel, makes sense as they had crime fiction writers working on it
>sopranos>lost>the wire>the shieldThe 2000's were the best era for television shows and nothing will ever top that
>>222865975Oh yeah I see what you mean, he should be smarter than to give Marlo access to any of that shit. You could be charitable and say he had a weak spot for him, treating him like a son, but that's a cop-outI don't agree about it feeling rushed though, the cause and effect is perfectly explained and paced, I don't believe another 5 scenes of Marlo slowly learning the ins and outs of the Greek operation would have improved anything

Homicide: RIP my African American Audrey Braugher
>>222866067First 4 seasons are kino. Last two are hit or miss for the most part, but the finale makes the whole journey worth it. 90% of the female characters are ass except for Sun and Juliet. Most of the mysteries get solved, but it's a show about its characters rather than the island itself. Flawless cast and great acting for the most part, especially for Jack, Locke, Ben and Desmond, which also happen to be the best characters of the series. So many memorable moments and episodes, it can also be hilarious and touching, have fun!
