Why is lighting a forgotten art in cinema nowadays?

People are going to say "the director wanted realistic lighting" but my opinion, as someone who went to film school for a semester, is that it's filled with people with zero talent getting all the jobs because they have money and family connections. These people never to the craft seriously.
It's not just lighting, cinematography in general is a dead art form.

how do we save cinema?

Many blockbusters have shit lighting to make it easier for the CGI artist to render the assets without having to deal with where the lighting is.Why that effects smaller budgeted movies is a mystery.
>>222872380Its not forgotten on broadway.
>>222872380those are all the same person
>>222872424>because they have money and family connectionsThis has always existed but nepos would still be carried by the vast majority of talented white men, all of whom have been replaced by browns and women.Nepos have naturally been untouched by diversity hiring
>>222872948That's the point.
>>222872480>>222872691This.Also, the craft was not passed on. I've worked with several dps with modern lighting sensibilities on period pieces meant to emulate the look and style of an era of film. When I asked for a halo light I was met with resistance. When I asked for stark shadows, they made literally everything dark. To make matters worse, they were even sent examples beforehand. They all lack style. They can technically light a scene, given the right gear. But no fucking imagination. And a complete lack of Mise en scène. Modern hollywood has the same problem.
Digicam, MCU, Nolan. Nobody cases if shit makes billions
>>222872380The jews
>>222872380They invented the "noir" genre so regular films don't have to care about lighting anymore
>>222872380No film
>>222876667Just watched this underrated Kubrick noir, it was kino. I think it was his first film.
>>222872543You can't. Streaming was a genie that was unleashed. Now that's out, you can't put it back in.You'll never get people to leave their house to go watch movies again now that the convenience of watching junk at home has taken root. Also, have you spoken to normies about film/tv lately? Most of them are like "i just couldn't be bothered watching a movie, they're too long".People are completely fucked in the head.
>>222878088Nah it was his 3rd or something.
>>222872543Make it a state owned industry with a budget allocated to each state based on their population. The state government then patronizes local filming/production teams based on whatever standards they want. That way all the lefty states get to make their commieslop, all the Christian conservatives get to adapt every book of the Bible into a standalone film, and everyone is happy.
