Lame title, uninspired marketing that makes it look like a YA chick flick (which is not Ridley's area of expertise), also Ridley has recently moved to a deeper level of hack hell since Gladiator 2. He's washed. People thought his 2010s films were bad but Gladiator 2 barely has more dignity than an Asylum film. I thought he couldn't sink lower than Robin Hood. I was wrong. I was so wrong. That being said I want that third David film.

So basically you watch Matt Damon get cuckshedded, then you watch a pretty clear cut case of rape followed by another even clearer cut case of rape. It removes the ambiguity out of it entirely, which is the whole point of a Rashomon style story, and turns it into female revenge porn. It was just bad timing because it came out around the peak of #MeToo and he clearly got his marching orders to tone it down a little bit. It just wasn't politick at that time to even intimate that a woman could be lying about being sexually assaulted.

I walked out after about half-an-hour. That's the first time I've ever given up on a movie at the theater. I read the book. I know you're supposed to judge a movie adaptation of a book on its own merits, but everything was wrong. I don't understand why the author let this happen.
