It's a story about the rise and fall of a family that gets completely wiped out at the end. It's pretty good show based on a pretty good book and remains faithful to the book and isn't your typical netflix slop. Haven't seen it, read the book like 15 years ago but can't remember that much about it.

The book deals with incest, war, religious fanaticism, conservative values vs liberal values, globalism when american company arrives and it starts off well but becomes slavery by the end.
