ITT: Shows only you watched
>>222905898Lots of folks watched this show.I even had it on my TiVo. Long lost now, apparently they never did a proper DVD release. all i got is this
>>222905898more like this. (don't look for it with safe search off, yick)
Is Dave Attell dead? He used to be as big as Dave Chappelle and then he just vanished.
>>222905898Mostly remember the episode in New Orleans when he went to a pumping station and joked about the guy needing a better job since the levees would never break.
>>222906148He did a comedy special several years ago with Jeff Ross called Bumping Mics that was good. Haven't seen anything about him since. I get the feeling he's been a longtime drinker or drug user and it's taken its toll, but I can't say for certain. He was looking pretty run-down in Bumping Mics
>>222905898I remember this being heavily promoted as a new show, and then at the last second all the ads mentioned it was premiering the episodes at 1am. even as a teen I knew that meant they were just burning it off
>>222906148He has a standup show tonight at the Village Underground in NYC.
>>222906123this was terrible. it was extremely obvious that they filmed the entire "season" in one sitting.
>>222906148bro just got old and the world passed him by, he has literally no appeal to anyone outside his original fanbase who is now 40-50+culturally in entertainment we discriminate against age even more so than we did in years prior, likely because literally no one wants to see boomers on TV anymore and rightfully soAttell literally looks like the oldest Jew in America now and Jeff Ross looks like a shaved ball sack
>>222905898Watched all of them when they aired. The second new york episode is surreal because they filmed it very shortly after 9-11. Its never mentioned but It aired spring of 2002, and if you look closely everyone is really on edge, theres some flags in the background and a FDNY memorial in on of the montages
>>222905898remember how after the Chappelle Show they filmed every sketch show in the same "variety show hosted on stage" format even if it didn't fit the program at all?
>>222906492>Key and Pee
Dave and Collin Quinn are always great podcast guests and always highly entertaining and funny especially when bouncing off other comics but for some reason they just refuse to make their podcasts. Dave, if you're reading this, or if anyone close to you reads this, you should totally make another show like Insomniac, but since you're sober, do it in the daytime and visit places like coffee shops and weed stores instead of bars. there's a demand for that niche and you're the man to do it, Dave.
>>222905898Only you know this world famous comedian. They put his show on tv especially for you. No one else watched it. You're so special.
>>222906968>you should totally make another show like Insomniac, but since you're sober, do it in the daytime and visit places like coffee shops and weed stores instead of barsThat sounds boring as fuck anon
>>222907037a show about funko pops is more your speed huh
>>222906026https://archive.org/details/insomniac-with-dave-attell_202506Somebody saved them on archive.org. If only somebody saved beat the geeks, that was a good show.
extreme keno too
>>222907037you're a simpleton, then. man on the street content is always hot, and with Dave's charisma and effortless gift of gab he could totally make a great show/podcast/youtube series of him just walking around various cities, drinking coffee, following the Insomniac formula but tweaked for daytime events. hell it doesn't even need to be daytime, but I'm just thinking about Dave's sobriety since he's on record for saying he's apprehensive about doing another show like that since he can't drink anymore. but people didn't love Insomniac for the drinking; they loved it because Dave is hilarious and a great host. booze fueled a lot of it, but Dave is still great without the booze. this format will totally work if Dave gave it shot.
>>222907176That's not the real dave. He was killed and cloned when he "went to africa"
Dave suggesting that the sewage-treatment plant he was visiting replace the ring buoy on the wall with a shotgun is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV.
>>222907070Mad>>222907176Not reading that
>>222907448fag post; didn't read
Pic related. Best show imo to ever last one season. The comedy is about as raw as eastbound and down and a lot of it comes from how goddamn stupid every character is except Keith David. Whole bunch of celebrity cameos. And the cinematography had an orange Florida filter that added a unique charm.
>>222905898This, river monsters, Catfished, & ghost hunters was peak cable tv slop
>>222907091I agree, but I liked the season 1 host better than the one they brought in for season 2
>>222905898
>>222907091Was just thinking about Beat the Geeks yesterday.
>>222905898Here is a hard one.
>>222906492>hey this mind of Mencia is supposed to be like Chappelle's show but with Mexicans let's turn it on>"BEEEAAAAAANNNNNNNNEEEEEERRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS">switch back to world series of poker
>>222905898There was a show on TBS in I want to say 2001 that I think was called “Burly Bear” right around the same time they were doing “Monkey Movies”. The only think about it was a segment where they talked about video games hosted by a fat guy who really makes me think of Rocco from Mega64, but he would have been too young at the time. The only reason I know it was 2001 was because they had a particular skit based around the launch of the Xbox and Gamecube. Also, they were apparently sponsored by that shitty Sobe drink, and they would open by thanking them for the sponsorship, take a drink, and then get a look of quiet disgust on their face before cutting to something else.
>>222905898That was a whole weird era of Comedy Central before Chapelle Show came along and kind of “hipped” things up, where I recall Insomniac, TV Funhouse (basically proto-Wondershowzen), That’s My Bush, and a weird one called Strip Mall that to my recollection was basically one of those Cinemax/Showtime softcore porn shows like Beverly Hills Bordello or Hot Springs, but without the sex, and done as a sitcom.
>>222909952My dad watched this. It was Baywatch at home.
>>222907781I liked Ghost Hunter but this was a legit good show until you realized they weren't going to find anything and they started doing the later ghost hunters thing where they played up everything to make it more exciting for tv. They actually looked into the history and folk lore, interviewed people, felt like an actual documentary show version of something like Sightings.
>>222909952>gee bill, your mom lets you have 2 guns?
>>222905898Everyone that had Comedy Central watched Insomniac when it aired. Anthony Bourdain basically ripped off the premise for No Reservations.
>>222906148>>222906286I was drunk and went into the restaurant near the comedy cellar and I saw Atell dining with other comic friends I didn’t know. I had a burger with fries and some peach cocktail. I like my cool story bro.
>>222906283I have the entire show archived.
I never hear anyone talk about this. It was a pretty good show but it wasnt renewed for its 4th season
>>222905898My friends and I used to quote this show constantly in high school. I haven’t found a soul in the last 20 years who remembers it or even knew it existed. Some of the funniest shit I’ve ever seen.
>>222906336>Attell literally looks like the oldest Jew in America nowNah, that'd be Ari
https://archive.org/details/d-2b-series-2-episode-009/Dare+To+Believe/001+-+Series+1/d2b+series+1+episode+001.mp4Anyone that has seen this I would feel compelled.to.call brother.
>>222906968>>222907176Didn't Jerry Seinfeld do that already to well-received acclaim?
>>222906983>>222910270kino
The weird part is i watched this in Brazil in the mid 2000s.
>>222906492none of these had a single good sketch
>>222910442Cowboy McGuiver?
>>222905898I loved Insomniac. Then it ended kind of out of nowhere and I never heard of Dave Attell again.
>>222910442Sounds like Brisco County jnr
>>222910587I mean, everybody watched the Carolla and Kimmel eps but does anybody remember that Joe Rogan and Doug Stanhope hosted it for a while?
>>222910018Kek yeah this was back when magic still felt real in the world. They really made you believe. I remember kids in school talking about seeing the jersey devil in lost tapes and swearing it was real footage. Animal Planet was the shit
>>222909862Bro did he have a thin nerdy sidekick? I remember something similar to what you described. They reviewed GTA3 that had me so hyped. They said to go kill a hooker, take her money and go buy gta 3 or something to that affect.
There were so many obscure 2000s movies that I watched as a kid that felt like fever dreams. There’s this one straight to dvd one that I still can’t find. All I remember about it is that there were people in the desert or something running from this horde of killer ants that ate you to the bone. There’s also one about some people on an island, and there was this voodoo piñata thing on the lose killing people. One of my mother’s coworkers gave her the dvd along with saw. The 2000s was a bizarre time for movies
>>222910587>"Rosie O'Donnell's fat ass is caught at the bottom of a well, thoughts and prayers for her" joke that lasts an entire episodeGod I miss that show
I liked it
>>222906492>tfw Jeff Dunham came to my gradeschool in the early 90s to do his bit>tfw never found him funny
>>222909862For me, it was the X-Play skit they did for God of War 1.>I have to kill the God of Chowss>It's pronounced "Chaos"
>>222906492you missed one, although the stage bits were actually the best part since this originated as a live comedy duo
>>222907846this show was the first time I was consciously aware a TV-14 early evening show was trying to do TV-MA stuff while holding backthe literal opening shot is the ex-girlfriend pulling up her panties but done in such a way that you don't realize her ass was fully covered at the start of the shot
>>222907091I used to work at the laemmle down the street from the nuart, the theater that the movie geek managed. That dude was such a fucking blowhard
>>222910270Wasn't there a schedule where he was like a resident advisory College and he had some deformity so he wore lots of crazy clothes and acted obnoxiously so no one would point out his baby arm or whatever? He also had some skit where he had a huge tumor from his cell phone that I remember thinking was hilarious
I only got like 12 of the episodes and they are vhs rips. I used to watch this at sleepovers when the sun came up. If anyone has resources please share it's a good show
I remember this was the first show I ever watched "on demand" once we got the digital cable box for the first time.
>>222912252Somebody just posted a link to all the eps earlier in the thread, ya goob
>>222912300Heh, Mike Nelson was a writer on this show.
>>222910698That's it. GTA3 would have been right around that same time too. I also have a vague recollection of them cutting to black versions of themselves, I don't remember the context at all, but the dude was freestyle rapping about Star Wars Rogue Leader. YEAH, I'M FLYIN' THROUGH THE AIRSHOOTIN' UP STUFFWRAPPIN' UP LEGSI couldn't tell you what my grandmother's birthday is, but I remember that shit for some ungodly reason.
>>222911591There is nothing worse than going to someone's house, and they force you to sit there and watch a shitty stand-up act. It's bad enough when people do that with youtube videos, but you're stuck sitting there for a fucking hour pretending to laugh at some asshole with puppets. That is torture.
>>222912502That actually makes me curious to watch it. Trace Beaulieu and J Elvis Weinstein wrote for America's Funniest Home Videos for a couple of years too right around the point when they sort of rebranded the show to "hip it up", and replaced Bob Saget with Daisy Fuentes and some guy. The voiceover jokes over the videos did noticeably jump in quality, I will give them that. Frank Coniff wrote for Invader Zim too. He also showed up in at least one episode.
>>222909952>The Complete First SeasonThere's was more than one????
>>222910270It's a very good sketch show.
>>222905898Fuck you, snowflake. I just found out the shitty Canadian prank show that GSN showed really late on Sundays has a rabid cult following even if it wasn't good. And really, have you ever met a Spenny?
>>222910270I still say to "COM-PLE-TED!" in a particular way sometimes, and I'm pretty sure it's from that show. Like maybe the sketch was a parody of that other MTV show Fear. Hey, now that I think of it, I'll add Fear to this thread as well. I kind of liked that show.
>>222911630Those G4 writers were working overtime to make that cocksucker seem in any way likeable.
>>222907395GOODBYE, TACO SUPREME!
>>222907395The two I have burned into my brain are when he walks out of that restaurant in Chicago that I guess the whole hook is that it's staffed by cunty negresses, and he says "Motherfuckin' Delicious!"The other one is when he's sitting in that recording booth with a couple of chicks making sex sounds for a hentai dub, and he just goes "Oops, it popped out!" in the middle of it.
>>222908533>which do you prefer, pooping or farting?>farting >really?>oh, yeah! there's no comparison!
>>222913148KvS isn't really a 'prank show' even if a lot of competitions devolve into that sort of shit
Huge fan of the franchise the series is only good if you're into the show or need more Bert. Has an episode atch starring a character played by Christopher Lloyd and an FBI spooky played by Dean Norris. Pretty comfy
>>222905898I used to love this because it has everything I like>Always takes place in the same location>Never any cutscenes so their lives are inferred purely by what they say and you have to gauge how true some things are based on their personalities>Never explicitly says what kind of building the Smoking Room is in>Unseen charactersBig time pleb filter. They only cancelled it when smoking indoors was made illegal and it couldn't be grounded in reality anymore.
>>222911571I watched it, Joan was great.Fox had... slightly more success with the next show in that time slot.
>>222905898Everyone over a certain age watched this show at some point because it was forced on you at a time when there was nothing else on.
>>222913492Sounds great to me, will watch.
>>222910587How is this Kimmel the same person we have to deal with now?
>>222908598Is it worth watching? I like Dylan Moran usually
>>222906239This show was great. And Nathan Fielder got his start on it
>>222910684this show was hilarious
>>222913696I hope you enjoy it. I did mean to mention it's more of a comedy, but it does have dramatic elements to it.BBC3 had a lot of good stuff on it that either got completely forgotten or only had a handful of seasons.
>>222906148Attell had a very 80s-90s comedy style. His shit doesn't play anymore, and frankly he was never that funny on stage. Insomniac was kino tho
I learned about the existence of Nutria from Insomniac
>>222914890Same actually, kek.
it was bad.I was very bored during COVID.
>>222914544He's one of those "comics' comics", like Norm. They all say he's the best.
>>222906239I felt like I was one of only 4 people who saw this
Jay Mohr was fucking great in this.
Gerhard Reinke's WanderlustIt was a fake travel show on Comedy Central about a german host getting into various situations. Its on jewtube if inte
>>222915747
>>222905898Tons of people watched Insomniac. In fact, that's part of the reason he stopped doing it. People kept recognizing him and it would ruin the natural vibe.
>>222909335Remember when Carlos was relevant for like 20 minutes before being cancelled for stealing entire sets from other comedians? Good times.
>GEEEAAAR!
>>222905898it got more boring as it went on, plus you can kind of tell that he was annoying sometimes, depending on if he was comfortable or not. He's funny in bursts but you can see he's borderline autistic and can't really hold a conversation, he breaks every sentence with a joke and never really lets anyone feel anything because I think he doesn't want to feel anything. I see you, Dave.
>>222906148He's on Jim's podcast on youtube a week ago. He's trying to date and you can tell it's not going well. I don't think women like him much. He's kind of weird.
>>222912109All things considered, would you have expected anything less?
I only watched it because Tiffani Amber Thiessen is hot
>>222907501Read the first 2 words; I agree
>>222906026Got a private tracker torrent with all 46 episodes.
>>222918366Forgot picture.
>>222917021Everyone watched Art Attack>tfw Neil is nearly 70>tfw he left the band nearly 10 years agoIt's over.
'Pensacola: Wings of Gold' was frequently on the low budget UHF station in my town when I was a kid. Doubt I ever watched an entire episode. Seemed like Temu 'Top Gun'. Nevertheless, it had three seasons and 66 episodes.
Three Sheets was on Mojo, one of the first cable channels to be all HD content. Not as crazy as Insomniac but fun in a different way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inBymluAjDY
>>222906983watched this last year, it was alright

>>222913792>>222908598I second it. It's a rare village kino.
>>222920207That was Mark Speight from SMart. Killed himself afterwards. Very bizarre situation.

>>222905898Yes, only you watched a hugely popular comedy central show in the early 2000's
>>222906026I have a best of DVD but that's about all I've ever been able to find.
>>222912865when one of the new younger co-hosts said "a kick in the groin can get you some coin" I knew they had new writers>>222911630>>222913245Sessler is the guy who taught me to never make being bitter or grumpy your personality especially when you're youngthe juxtaposition of being young and acting like a "get off my lawn" old man is funny, but once you actually get older you're just an annoying old fuck and the personality is completely off-putting>>222913492>They only cancelled it when smoking indoors was made illegal and it couldn't be grounded in reality anymore.I remember when Top Gear did a host segment making fun of Porsche for having an overpriced merchandise store and they all bought Porsche-branded tobacco pipes and smoked themsome watchdog group tried to fine them and it came out they were smoking something inert to skirt the rule and the group was seething over it. like a bunch of HR ladies
>>222918295this is one of those shows I remember seeing in the background and seeing ads for years for, even though it didn't actually air episodes that longlike a bunch of shows my sisters watched called Everwood and State of Grace. most of those only lasted a few seasons but based on how many ads I saw for them if you told me they all had 5+ seasons I'd have believed you

>>222906239>that show plus theseman, Comedy Central was really swinging for the fences in 2011, they had like half a dozen brand new shows that year and the only one that actually stuck and got more than one season was Workaholics
>>222924742Why they never gave Norm a Letterman style late night spot, I'll never know
in 2007 I specifically remember Sci Fi Channel running ads bragging about having hundreds of hours of scripted original programing debuting that year, and literally none of it lasted longer than one seasonI appreciate when networks try but man what a bad year

>>222920385>In April 2008, the coroner recorded a verdict of death by misadventure in relation to Collins. The cause of death was "cocaine toxicity and immersion in hot water", according to the consultant pathologist. The inquest found that she had taken "very significant" amounts of cocaine with sleeping pills and vodka, and that she had suffered 60% burns to her body, including her tongue. The coroner noted that at some stage in the night after both Speight and Collins had gone to bed, Collins got up to have a bath. He said that it was "more likely than not" that a heart problem had caused Collins to fall unconscious while the hot tap was running. Following Collins's death, Speight moved in with Collins's mother. What a weird way to go but if you're mixing cocaine, pills, and booze, sooner or later it's going to get you.

>>222933264It was a period piece set in the late 50s about Roswell, and yeah they were wanting to cash in on X-Files but they half-assed it.
>>222933255>>222933279I also really liked Cybil because Alicia Witt was smoking hot but also Christine Baranski was fantastic.
>>222933279That's not the smoking man?!.they just stole his vibe?Dont remember a lot of episodes bit do remember the intro. The brunette looks like kate mucucci.
>>222906968>but since you're sober ... weed storesWhat's a sober person doing around weed stores?
>>222933327She is yummy and I had no idea she was in twin peaks, long legs, urban legends and vanilla sky. She has done so many family films. Did not know her name until now.
>>222933378California sober, just like dan soder.
>>222932360Watched it. Didn't really like it. Basically Murder, She Wrote for nerds.
>>222933200didn't this have an episode with them helping a pre-Doors Jim Morrison fight aliens?
>>222934107Maybe I haven't seen it in 30 years.
>>222915376a comics' comic wouldn't do kill tony
>>222934066Aren't they all genius scientist? Kinda like better off ted?
>>222934231Yeah. It's one of those shows though where the mystery is really only a mystery to the characters, not the viewers.
>>222905898mediocre jewish comedians getting their own tv shows was a big deal back then
>>222910587The best 'skit' was when they convinced college women to sign a petition to end women's suffrage. kek
>>222935992>young richard lewis>the burn local guy>sex cult blonde chick from smallville
>>222932606>>222932883I remember liking it when it was on, but I watched some of it a few years ago and it wasn't funny anymore>>222933216There was a similar show on back then with Sam Kinison playing someone's inner angel and devil
>>222938486Married with children had an episode where kennison is angel ala its a wonderful life.
>>222905898Man this was definitely a ""vibe"" as the kids say now. That early 2000s, lethargic tired up late watching weird street people shit eating pizza rolls
>>222910587I liked the women jumping on trampolines. Did not care for that weird "ziggy socky" thing. My drinking groups never did such things.
>>222938486>There was a similar show on back then with Sam Kinison playing someone's inner angel and devilWasn't that just a Tales from the Crypt episode "For Cryin' Out Loud"?
>>222933200>Brisco County Jr. getting axed after their first seasonsruined muh decade.it made me actually pissed at Bruce Campbell appearing in later serials because it wasn't Brisco County
This show was so damn good and I swear that I'm the only one who ever watched it. I've posted it numerous times to old shows threads and it never gets noticed. It's a little bit X-Files, a little bit The Prisoner, but blended with a traveling adventure man on the run format.
>>222932724I'm almost positive that show could have been popular under the right circumstances and I'm so fucking glad it wasn't.
>>222937410>That episode in Iceland when Frosty accidentally fires his shotgun and Grub shits himself that he could have killed one of them>That episode in the later episodes with Ashley when he knocks out the Sheila who thinks she's one of the ladsDon't get kino like that anymore.

>>222938555>>222938858Nope, I had to look it up, it was called Charlie Hoover
>>222909244Ah yes, the first show dan harmon self sabotaged and torpedoed with his extreme autism and retardation
I wanted to like this as a child, but most of the jokes and references were written for adults. And adults were put off by puppetry. I also remember the voice impressions being really bad.
>>222906492>>222940794when he was younger and thin like >>222922528 his jokes and persona were funny, but once he became a fat sloppy alcoholic I found everything about him completely off-putting and repugnant despite his jokes being the sameSwardson's decline is one of the things that made me realize the Halo Effect was 100% real
>>222939877>To be fair kill tony guest are sometimes hilarious.MUH MUH MUH MUH NAME IS D D D DAVID LEHNER AND I I I AM G G G G GOONG TOOO DDDDIIIIEEEEE barrel of laughs.
Best fucking reality show premise ever. Everyone's in solitary confinement and half the episode was dedicated to just fucking with them and the actual eliminate changes had the genuis gimmick that you can quit at anytime and only the first person to quit is actually eliminated
>>222940743it's funny how every incel is unable to escape the pain and misery of making their own lives awful

>>222940773I mean its an old show from the early 2000s, who gives a fuck if people torrent it or not?
>>222924742there’s a reason those shows never ever work, even when they are a dedicated segment on the daily show every once in a while… actual sports shows are like a hundred times funnier than any comedian. athletes are on an entirely different level of zaniness. https://youtu.be/z6LLTxjXQ4syou could watch podcasts for a year straight and not get a moment like that.
>>222940993no one fucking cares that zoomer is retarded

>>222941085nta but he pointed out an accurate observation as a joke, not whatever you're making this into. take a breath.
>>222941111It was a different time. The most sensational moment in our lives, bar none, was Bart Simpson saying Damn on the Tracy Ullman show. The tv was America's Living Room and the stable wholesomeness it offered was a centerpoint of the family experience. Whether that was ultimately a good thing or a bad thing in the long run history can judge, but it was what it was.
>>222941180You're acting as the overly defensive, obsessed person in these exchanges. It's okay to admit fault and misunderstanding. Or triple down.
>>222941186>can't stop thinking about jews>A GUY HOLDING A MICROPHONE LOOKS LIKE LE HAPPY MERCHANT MEMEyou have an actual mental illnessit's not even a secret dave's jewish, like why would you flip your shit about a pose?

>>222941351Why are you evading the questions?
>>222941322Irony.
>>222941322No, jews‘ looks often just lend themselves humour, nearly every other jew comedian leans into this. Are you b8ing or is there something genuinely wrong with you.
>>222941378I'm a second anon pointing out that the anon who freaked out over a jew joke is still freaking out over a goofy joke.
>>222941379>nooo you can't just point out the fact i ruin every single thread with my insane insecure shityou're the clear and present reason /tv/ is shit now. you literally can't watch a single show or movie without hyperventilating about jews. guess what, people who aren't complete losers are tired of it and your constant self-pity party.
