So why does the director say it isn’t a monkeys paw movie or a possession movie exactly?
>>222920182Because the director is a dumb zoomer who made an occult bases film but doesnt want to admit magic is witchcraft and devil worship despite openly depicting satanic happenings all film long
ENOUGH WITH THIS SHITTAKE A ROPE AND END IT ALL
>>222920182>ObGen
>>222920182I don't know it seems really retarded. Maybe he just wants people to argue about it.I also saw the interview where Navarette says it's not meant to be a demonic possession but proceeds to describe it exactly like a demonic possession
>>222920182Because its not. Its like you people have never seen, read or played anything where someone puts a love spell on someone else. He made a wish that she would love him more than anyone else in the world. That ended up meaning more than herself or anyone else that might get between them. The wording mattered. He got what he asked for
>>222920307That would make sense were it not for the sleep talking scene and hearing the real Nikki getting tortured on the customer service line This is obviously demonic possession
There are actually dudes out there who simp for girls they’re not banging for 2 years straight?
>>222920182It's definitely a monkey's paw>>222920192My nigga
>>222920182In order for it to be a Monkey's Paw, it would have to come with a guaranteed bad side effect. The movie confirms this is not guaranteed to happen if the wish is phrased properly.
>>222920597So how should he have phrased the wish?
>>222920669"i wish for 100 more wishing willow sticks which only work for me, and which are not limited to 'only one wish'"
>>222920669"make me stop being a coward"
>>222920543>It's definitely a monkey's pawit's not. the guy wishes for a billion dollars and just straight forwardly and immediately receives it with no irony
>>222920843Then he would get not-possessed by not-demons tho
>>222921419If that scene existing is the only reason it's not a monkey's paw story it's not a very good non-monkeys paw story.
>>222921451That's the point, it's a win/win situation. He has the balls to go for Nikki, no one suffers, and things work out their natural course.
>>222921514But he'd be suffering in not-hell getting tortured by not-demons while whatever entity is controlling his body The magic of the movie can't actually change people's personalities or emotions, it can just displace them by implanting a different entity that fulfils the criteria of the wish. This is core to its plotline for why using it for love magic is le bad.
Is there any movie or tv show involving wishes where the result hinges more on the “spirit of the wish” instead of the “letter of the wish”? I don’t get why literally every story involving wishes always focuses on exact wording.
>>222920182It's definitely a Monkey's Paw and possession movie. Anyone who disagrees is high as a kite.Death of the Author, I guess. Maybe he's just trying to stir shit online by stating such ridiculous things.
>>222921646Anon, nothing happened to his best friend after wishing for money.NIkki would have murdered him regardless of his wish. And she was not possessed, she just developed the personality that could love him more than anyone else.
>>222920182Because wishes and possession aren't real.
>>222921681So what was the whole «I was never with you» scene about? That isn’t Nikki, it’s something else.
>>222921683Good thing it’s a movie
>>222921699That was nikki, telling him that the one who was with him was the other personality.
>>222921721Obviously, my point is that scene proves she is in fact possessed by another entity when in all the other scenes.
It's just a love spell.Part of her loves him more than anything but is aware of the part that isn't under the spell and is hurt by that part of her doesn't feel the same. The other part of her is normal, and freaks out when she sees herself as the person that is under a spell. She doesn't know what's wrong with her and the entire film she looks at Bear as someone who can maybe help her, until she realizes (both parts realize) he did this to her.
>>222921735A different personality, anon, nikki is quite literally trapped in her own mind.
>>222920843He wasn’t a coward he just liked a girl who didn’t like him back
>>222921749That is not incompatible with the possession trope, in fact in many possession flicks, including the Exorcist, that’s exactly how it works. Plus, the movie straight up contradicts you on that snyway given the phone call reveals she’s spiritually resident in whatever hellish torture dimension this magic comes from - hell if you will.
>>222921777She's screaming and suffering due to having zero body autonomy
>>222921788Cuz she’s possessed by a different entity QED
>>222921765I disagree. I think based on their interaction in the car, she was into him and if he just said how he felt when she asked they would have been in a relationship.
>>222921807What is this the 1500s?Are we calling multiple personalities demonic possession now?
>>222921826Would he want a relationship if he knew she was gagging on Ian’s chode the whole last 2 years?
>>222921826>I am into you>that's why I'm fucking your best friend
>>222921826She wanted to reject him. He knew there was no shot and figured it would be better to save himself the embarrassment
>>222920182Maybe its not a monkeys paw in the sense of purposely being bad, but it doesnt work. That real Nikki keeps regaining control is not what was wished for it also directly contradicts the wish since real Nikki doesnt love him. And then it added a bunch of other evil stuff that wasnt asked for like real Nikki being trapped screaming. So its effectively a monkeys paw if a bunch of random evil stuff happen that was not the wish.
>>222921838The movie establishes the following 1. That is not the real Nikki 2. That is a being of magical origin 3. The real Nikki is resident in some other realm, removed from her physical body All of that is completely inconsistent with some multiple personality faux-science interpretation. It’s literally a horror movie about magic. Why the director resists calling it a possession movie is unknown, because the phenomenon depicted in the movie is literally just possession. Could be demons, ghosts, space aliens, the CIA, or Bigfoot for all I know, doesn’t matter, but it’s some kind of possession.
>>222921848I mean Bear mogs Ian so it stands to reason
>>222921887That's the problem, really, real nikki coming out, there's a reason the other nikki went insane.
>>222921897they're both nikki, but one is nikki under the effects of the wish and one is normal nikki. /thread
>>222921845Well he was willing to accept that Nikki lied about her father dying so he would probably be okay with it.>>222921848She clearly wasn't happy and was looking for something else. >you're the only person I can talk to>how do you feel about Sarah having a crush on you>makes fun of Sarah having a crush instead of encouraging them to get together>drops a line that no one knows when she has a crush on someone>outright ask if he has feelings and then basically says that he needs to say it now if so. In other words, basically saying you'll give me a reason to stay here>when bear says that he thinks they're good friends, she gets defensive instead of relieved when she says "good"if she truly wasn't interested she would have just encouraged the relationship with sara. the orbiter argument doesn't work here either because she was just going to leave soon anyway
>>222921916Tbh the movie would be better if this whole real Nikki plot point didn’t exist. The script just didn’t trust the audience to get its point about free will without spelling it out through this plot point
>>222921935If she was into him then she wouldn't be fucking him, anon.Imagine it ever came out>actually nikki was fucking ian up until you two got toegther>no she never told you
>>222921923Except one is resident in a different plane of existence most of the time. They are two different beings
>>222920216Excellent album, excellent song
>>222921964Maybe over time she got more into him and less into Ian. There's no reason to say or do any of the things at the beginning of the film unless she was interested.
>>222921935Tbh I would be more okay with a girl lying about her father dying than I would be with her fucking my friend
>>222921826Lmfao no
>>222922125Tbf how was he supposed to know witchcraft is real and this is some black magic possession device?
>>222921935You are delusional
Nikki obviously would have banged Bear because Ian is fugly.Clearly such a massive slut would be DTF an even hotter guy
>>222922179She wouldn’t have because she didn’t She never expressed sexual attraction to him
>>222922204Most women don’t know how to do that and just wait for the guy to do everything
>>222922214No they really don’t anonLife isn’t a Hollywood movie or a video game where everything revolves around youWomen flirt with and fuck the men they want They play games with the ones they don’t
>>222922125Everyone was a bit of an asshole, but they weren't villains. The wish was the villain. The rest were victims.
>>222921681>Anon, nothing happened to his best friend after wishing for money.Nothing shown.
>>222922214A girl I work with had a boyfriend and is fucking a black guy at the jobShe told another girl that she’s mad that I “gave up” trying to get herThis is what this mindset createsWomen think they can be fucking multiple men and still be entitled to your effort
>>222922242Foid detected Every single man walking this Earth knows what I’m talking about
>>222922274Not an argument She didn’t like himThere was no reason to try
>>222922299That’s not the point I made. It’s that he probably could have banged her cuz she’s a slag. Actual romantic attachment is not relevant
>>222922320He didn’t want to use her like a toilet, he actually wanted herHe did the right thing
>>222920307You are describing a typical monkey paw story
>>222922336That was his fatal mistake and the root of all the misery in the movie. Should have just hit it and perhaps realised what a hoe he was moping about
>>222921826The movie makes it very very clear, that this is not the case
>>222922359feelings aren’t a mistakeYou can’t help or choose who you loveThis world just shouldn’t have ruined women and dating with feminism
>>222921905If a girl likes you, she’ll tell you instead of fucking your friends
>>222922359If Ian told Bear a long time ago that he was with Nikki, Bear would have got over her and moved on.
>>222922373Except it doesn't, that's the entire point of their exchanges in the car ride.
>>222922388Apparently everybody is a blameless saint except for the white guy
>>222921935She was obviously trying to give him an easy way out
>>222922214>Just guess, anon. I don’t wanna be rejectedWomen are such fucking hypocrites, holy shit
>>222922376Yes they are. A big mistake. >This world just shouldn’t have ruined women and dating with feminismThey’ve always been hoes, brother.Read this book and get some education
>>222922436Women have never had license to act the way they do nowIt’s no comparison Social media and feminism and porn and onlyfans and immigration changed everything
>>222922386Have you met a girl?
>>222922403No? She was very clearly trying to give him the talk
>>222922359If Bear was the kind of guy who could get with women for one night, he wouldn’t have cared about NikkiShe wasn’t into him and he could tell
>>222922403Where is the proof she wanted to fuck him or loved him
>>222922455Sure she was, bud. That's why she put down Sara's crush on him instead of encouraging it and why she gets defensive when he says they're friends.
>>222922448Liberty just reveals the true natureNothing that can be done about thatAll you can do is keep simping or start pimping
>>222922456His problem is he’s a massive pussy, given he is verifiably more handsome than her standards require he could have banged her were he not such a pussy
>>222922471That webm just proves my point. He said exactly the thing she wanted to hear
>>222922473This situation isn’t liberty or nature It’s a artificial and enforced structureYou pretending there is anything neutral about the modern landscape is pure feminist propaganda
>>222922449Yes. You seem to be absurdly out of touch.>Yes, anon. I wanted to be with you, that’s why I was choking on your friends cockYou must be a foid to be this fucking stupid
>>222922494Being able to tell that a woman doesn’t want you doesn’t make you a pussy
>>222922502You're either baiting or a retard. That's not a look of relief or satisfaction.
>>222922502Her reaction is the exact opposite of what you're saying.
>>222922494Most guys don’t have the skills to immediately charm a woman and fuck her on the first night. Most guys can tell if a woman isn’t interested and are content to just not pursue when they know the answer already
>>222922538according to 2026 feminism if you don’t let a uninterested girl who is already taken reject you it means you are a failure at existenceYou aren’t allowed to have dignity apparently
>>222922436Film adaptation when? Extremely good book and helped me remove every trace of simpdom from my life.
>>222922471Giving him an awkward ultimatum like this proves she never wanted him
>>222922504Women being hoes is the most natural thing there is.Is it good? Doesn’t matter. It is what it is like the sea is treacherous. Seething about it does no good and only punishes yourself. All you can do is learn to sail, or you drown.
Movies like this are meant to tank the birth rates with no survivorsThis will make women so much more toxic and make so many men give up completely
>>222922509>Yes, I do believe women are always up front about their feelings and never wait for the guy to initiate everything You are the most ignorant motherfucker on planet Earth
>>222922571Ignoring what I said and resorting to poetic masturbation isn’t a solution or an argumentWomen have never been allowed to be like thisThe system is the problem Social media didn’t exist when that book was writtenOnlyfans didn’t existFeminism was fringe There is no comparisonThis is a new arena with new rules and new standardsYou have to adapt and stop coping Stop enabling this system by pretending it’s natural or neutral
>>222922580Women being useless cunts is what made men walk away from dating
>>222922513If you watch that car scene and can’t read the disappointment you clearly have autism
>>222922595you have to cherry pick and strawman because you have no answer Women don’t treat you like bear if they want youThey don’t fuck your friend instead of youYou are a delusional feminist moron and that makes you evil
>>222922608If you watch that and can’t imagine why he would act the way he did YOU have autism
>>222922595>Youre supposed to figure out no actually means yes cuz I blinked at you 3 timesThis a woman’s brain. Nobody wants to deal with this bullshit. If I know a girl doesn’t like me, that’s it. Why should I keep bothering her?
>>222922596>wah wah wah we live in a society And what are you going to do about it? You gonna have a big revolution against feminism, the internet and secular liberal democracy? That’s never going to happen. This e- warrior shit is not going to save you. But the teachings of Iceberg Slim might.
>>222922613You appear to believe women have any emotional courage whatsoever and are not total sluts. That is erroneous
>>222920182>So why does the director say it isn’t a monkeys paw moviehe literally said the movie was inspired by the treehouse of horror monkey paw segment
>>222922621It’s cuz he’s beta as fuck. Obviously.
>>222920182The real story of Obsession is the people talking about the same movie every day for like 4 months straight.
>>222922677>Women are sluts so you should approach every one you see and try to fuck herPretty good way to end up on social media and labeled as a vexatious creep.Im happier to just sit at home and not waste my time by making a complete ass of myself
Inde?
>>222920182Fuck this shit Im fixing the movie>the wish willow didnt actually work, she's just a psycho and he never really got to know her/she didnt see him as a romantic prospect until he confessed to herPretty much a totally differemt movie but a more interesting premise. If you want to go and have the exact same movie>same deal but she has DID and one of her personalities is an obsessive psycho so you can still have her ocassionally resurfacing and being freaked out about it.
>>222922720>Yes, I would rather be celibate than face the microscopic possibility of being made fun of on the internetI can respect being a volcel but this is like the worst reason I've ever heard for being one.You already get made fun of on here everyday ffs XD
>>222922659yeah it’s easy all you have to do is stop pretending this situation is neutral or natural
>>222922689no it’s because he has no reason to think she likes him
>>222922795>microscopic possibility>only on the internetwhat is your purpose in these threads? To be a delusional moron advocating for the false structure of modern dating?
>>222922812It is natural tho. What's unnatural is any society in which women are not total sluts. Until you appreciate this is just what they truly are you're NGMI
>>222922831So you're also afraid of being made fun of in conversations you're never going to even hear?Man, you're a total pussy.
>>222922836>consent to a false structure that has only existed for a few years, it’s how it’s always beenNo and no
>>222922818The fact she's even asking that question is already a hint, a bigger hint than you can usually even expect from a woman realistically.
>>222922852No I just can tell when women aren’t into me and spare myself the meaningless humiliationIf a woman likes me I’ll approach herYou insulting me is just trying to keep your investments on the one sided deal
>>222920669Maybe if he wasn't such a potty mouth. Demons don't like it when you drop f-bombs
>>222920182This was more of an evil dead movie than evil dead burn was
>>222922869Actually her fucking guys who aren’t him is an even bigger hint (that she doesn’t want him)She’s not entitled to his honest answer
>>222921419He immediately dies though
>>222920266In my experience she does align with demonic influence. I've witnessed that type of behaviour. Weird and paranormal shit happens around it. There's one scene in particular that was too familiar.
>>222922860Acknowledging it's natural isn't consenting to it, nature doesn't give a fuck if you consent to it or not. It just is what it is.You can either get real or die pretending women are really innocent pure maidens that are only tricked into being sluts by the Jews or something.
If you have to guess that she’s into you, it means she’s not into youWomen take advantage of guys who think otherwise Which is why women in these threads want you to think you have a chance when you actually don’tIt keeps women held unaccountable
>>222922888He dies from bears dumb wish and refusal to take responsibility until the last millisecond.
>>222922901We aren’t living in nature, femanonYou can be reductive in an attempt to be gaslighty but it’s transparent Your thesis allows women to act as toxic and entitled as possible which is bad if you didn’t know
>>222922873What's the signal you need exactly?
>>222921749The other personality can move in inhuman ways though. When Bear called the manufacturer to rescind the wish, Nikki could be heard screaming in the background
>>222922926Trying much too hard there, anon.
>>222922938It’s not even about receiving a positive signalBut more about adding up all of the negatives So for instance, a big negative we have is the fact that she was fucking his friend for years
>Hates women >Also constantly goons on womenThe duality of /tv/
>>222921826>she was into himIf that was true, why did she need an alternate personality in order to have a relationship with him?
>>222922948I accept your concessionStop pretending you have anything meaningful or helpful to say
>>222922978That has nothing to do with this boardYou just described most men for the history of our species existence
>>222921923Where does her ability to move in reverse and in slow motion come from?
>>222922926This is what nature looks like for humans, same as a beehive or an ant colony.Even if we existed in a Hobbesian state of nature, the situation would be even more dire as to women being total skanks. Looking at the example of other great apes it'd either be women all fucking whichever Chad beat the last AMOG to death and eventually moving straight onto the next one when someone beats him to death, or just fucking whichever Chad they want this month in between dodging roaming serial rapists. Women being total sluts isn't just natural to humans, it's natural to all great apes, literally every single species in this family. Alas we could not be born Gibbons.
>>222923031Actually, only fans and social media and third wave feminism are not the natural state for humanity
>>222922975I don't think you appreciate just how incestuous these adult mixed gender friendgroups get IRLEspecially in small towns.
>>222923013Including this board
>>222921681He was immediately murdered by someone under the control of the same magic>Here's your billy, didn't say you'd live to spend it though, lol
>>222923038They're not. They're just vehicles for female sluttery to use. They would find ways to be sluts even if the peak of technology was a pointy rock. You're confusing the symptom and the root. That's why you'll never find the cure this way
>>222923073No, no no no no what is happening is you are pretending that things that are real are not realThat makes you stupid
>>222923088Deep down, even you know none of these things are making women sluts, that's just what they're like.
>>222923112I’m not saying it’s making women sluts I’m saying it changes how people feel they are allowed to act and it’s to the detriment of civilization and cannot continue in this fashionYou are invested in the current situation which is why you defend it as natural even though it’s not
>>222922916Bit of a coincidence isn't it?>Man wishes for a billion dollars>It rains a billion dollars>he gets shot dead>It was gonna happen anyway, lolShe was under the control of the same magic that gave him his money
>>222923044My brother used to work in a tourist hotspot in our country. And because the place is far away from other regions, all the workers have to live there. And he told me that all of his colleagues would take turn dating each other within their friend group. I asked him why, he said because the place is so isolated, those are the people they know
>>222923134I would not give a fuck if Shariah law was instituted tomorrow. All I'm telling you is that if you're waiting for society to change, or for women to change, you're going to die waiting. The only way to any peace or success is changing your philosophy, and the first step is accepting all women are just sluts by nature and always will be.
>>222922608Wanting someone to want you doesn't mean that you want them. Being desirable means being desired. Not being desired means you might not be desirable
>>222923213This is true but that is way too redpilled for the message this movie is aiming to communicate.
>>222923205>all women are just sluts by nature and always will beNTA but that's availability heuristic bias. You constantly see sluts on social media because those are the women who want to be sluts and want men's attention, whereas women with dignity don't do those things, hence, you don't see them on social media.
The director already said whether nikki likes bear is purposely left ambiguous, and you retards keep fighting about it. Jesus Christ.
>>222923265That feigned modesty is not real, it’s just another illusion designed to entice men like makeup or social media. On the hardware level she’s the same as the rest of them.
>>222923060Nikki was already trying to lure Ian to the house to kill him before he wished for the money though. She was pretending to be Sara and texted him to come over to Bear's
>>222923307I guess your mum and grandma are also whores then since all women are whores by your book.
>>222923454Yes, obviously, so are yours, so are that guy over there's.
>>222923416Wishes can rewrite the past
>>222923501Maybe? It still stands that the second Ian walked in that house he was a dead man. Money wish or no money wish. Him getting the billion dollars had nothing to do with it
>>222923495Seek therapy.
>>222923561You're the one with stress and dissatisfaction burdening you. I'm just pointing out these illusions are part of the problem.
>>222920266Marketing probably figured that if the crew deny the most mainstream/obvious interpretations it generates more content and discussion online. Directors oblige because they don't care about people who base their understanding of movies on online discussion.
Leaving this here
>>222923596Nah, I'm happy with my life, whereas you're a miserable chud who thinks the woman who gave birth to you is a whore. Seriously, seek help. Unless you're ragebaiting of course.
>>222923637> I'm happy with my lifeThis would be more convincing if it wasn't preceded by seething about how the world ruined women with feminism and onlyfans.
>>222923669>seething about how the world ruined women with feminism and onlyfans.Wrong guy, anon.
>>222923612why does she look fat and skinny at the same time in some pictures?
>>222923612I need this in my life
>>222923612GODMORNING SAAAR
>>222923772
>>222923785Ohhh no wonder i feel like I've seen this outfit before lol
>fell for an ai jeetpost againgod it's like failing a corporate phishing test. just take away my internet priveleges
>>222920182Definitely a monkey paw movie
>>222923013Kek is>most men hate womenThe new>most men have no friends?
>>222923637He's right though. Women are whores by nature. They are biologically wired to trade sex for resources. This isn't really disputable unless you deny evolution.
>>222920182if possessed Nikki she was with me. she would be unlocking very naughty fetishes for me. to make a long story short, our sex be her pooping on my dick during anal, her pooping on my chest, her pooping in the bathroom with me, her peeing in cups for me to drink, and maybe we get to a point where I nibble on her poo. It would be hot life.
>>222922337>typical monkey paw storyYes and no. The outcome going sideways doesn't make the wish willows a default monkey paw. As in always, deliberately, goes wrong with a twist. Being Bear's online research has people claiming it the wish are real, but not saying a warning. Shop owner isn't worried. Other wishes didn't go sideways based off the wish. Think if it like Wishmaster vs Aladdin, wishmaster wants to always corrupt, Aladdin might just get it wrong. >>222920347>real Nikki getting tortured on the customer service lineWe don't know what that is being the hotline has already lied multiply times. Making anything he says or does not trust worthy. Her out breaks in person could just as easily been the spell being weaker for a few seconds.Like it's clearly not a possession as far as a 3rd party just taking over to mess with Bear. The film over all is pretty well crafted and Hollywood is going to throw bags of money at the director now.
>>222924390There was a warning, one person said something about how it changed someone for the worse. Most people were wishing for things like money, which doesnt seem like theres any repercussions for doing so.
>>222923300That’s a cop out
>>222923840Both are true
Not surprised the first thing she did when she became famous was move out of LA and to NYC. Probably couldn't go anywhere in public in LA after the movie blew up.
>>222920182Directors always deny when things are obviously what they are and I have no idea why.>They're all dead and in some kind of purgatory aren't they?>Nuh-uh.Do they think people are going to think they're hacks and if they just pretend they aren't people will believe it?
>>222920182Tbh, the fact that there's a "Real Nikki" and a "Wish Nikki" and that Wish Nikki acknowledges that she isn't the real Nikki makes the reading of the film Barker wants unobtainable. The movie (by itself, without imposing directorial intent) is showing us a guy releasing an evil spirit from a novelty item, assuming he's dating the girl he had a crush on until he realises it's something else using her body, the evil spirit is raping both of them by the way, since he's having sex with her through lies and manipulation basically and she's had her body stolen. The ending of the movie also suggest the spirit is envious of real Nikki since she's more than willing to harm Nikki's body like she's harm and even killed other women that have shown affection to Bear or that Bear is shown affection towards. Real Nikki doesn't love Bear, Bear was not in a relationship with Nikki, but there was an spirit released from the One Wish Willo Obsessed with making Bear love it, thinking she could "Be Nikki" and harming every other woman that came her way including the Real Nikki. I also doubt "Wish Nikki"'s wish could work since it's not a real person (it's some non human entity, puppeting Nikki's body) despite of how the movie frames the last scenes, I'm more willing to think Bear just felt the pills starting to make effect and those last moments he was just under the influence of the pills.

Instead of her spinning her head around or levitating over the med he for walking backward. Let’s also ignore devil guy in the phone and Nikki soul screaming over the phone
>>222920182It's not a Monkey's Paw and I'll gladly explain why:1) Bear says, verbatim, "I wish Nikki Freeman loved me more than anyone in the fucking world".2) Nikki later tells Bear "I love you in every reality", when Bear said "it's not real, referring to her love"Pay attention: "I love you...in every reality." This is alluding to a multitude of realities i.e. universes where Nikki love bear - and not only that, but Nikki loves that particular Bear more than any other person in every world in every universe. To put it simply, Nikki loves Bear as much as her brain can physically love someone. This is why it's not a "possession" - it's her own brain wiring that is completely fucked by what can be most closely considered a "curse". This "curse" is essentially a veil - Nikki's consciousness still exists - it has to in order for the mechanics of the wish to work (i.e. Bear dies = no more curse) - but it is supressed in some sort of hellish purgatory. Also, the fact it's literally a willow branch means it's associated with witchcraft - just look where it was purchased from as well... the reason Bear got so screwed over is because (even though he didn't really think it would work...) he wished away someone's free will. Not only that, but a chick's free will. And for you brown retards: "witchcraft" is associated with "witches", which are female. This "curse" purposely fucked up Bear's life because of the very nature of his wish. It's way Nikki says to Bear "this is all your fault. You wished for this" after killing Sarah. It's why it cooked his cat, acted psychotic, and took away Bear's autonomy at the end. I know you teenaged smoothbrains will seethe at this analysis because it requires the critical thinking that you lack and you want it to be super easy to mentally digest, but when you reply, at least make some sort of an attempt to explain *why* you think [x] so I can mentally dismantle you

Like the Djinn in Wishmaster wants and will corrupt every wish. Yet that doesn't make him or every Djinn a true monkey paw as they still have the free will to not twist every wish. >>222932658This would make sense if literally every wish in the movie isn't shown to have a negative consequence (and extends further back into the lore when Bear originally asks why do people complain and then he returns to the store and does the same thing at the end). The problem with just start saying that 'well maybe this maybe that', then all logic falls apart. You might as well say that the entire movie was in Bear's head and that Wish Nikki wasn't real and it was his imagination. Sure, is it possible Ian just dies on random after wishing for a billion dollars? Yes. But is it likely given the fucking context of the entire movie up to that point? Highly unlikely.>>222932678We know next to nothing about the store clerk or what he wished and how it affected him. I think my biggest problem is the fact that it doesn't ease into the story. Instead of starting off like a quirky, Hughes-esque romance movie like it seems from the opening scene before turning into something entirely different when Bear finds out about the cancer ruse, the movie just rushes into horror elements really fast to where we can see where it's going too soon. We never really get a sense of who these characters are, where they are, or what their relationships to each other are. This definitely corrects itself in the second half of the film somewhat but the world of these characters feels strangely claustrophobic, which is an issue I have with most films now. There's also some cliches I don't care for, especially in the middle of the film. It doesn't make sense that Nikki doesn't move like a normal person and has those jittery, fast horror movements. She's at her scariest when she's doing typical mentally ill things like pissing and shitting on the floor in place, screaming at Bear, making the cat sandwich, freaking out in public, self-harming, having her Stepfather-esque lucid moments in her sleep, and killing Sarah and Ian. It just comes across as a tad bit of immersion-breaking hackery expected of a Blumhouse film that takes me out of the atmosphere a bit.I'm also divided on certain aspects. I'm torn on the deliberately eclectic setting: sometimes it feels like the Rust Belt, other times like the Upper Midwest, sometimes like the South, and other times like the Southwest. I feel like a story like this would be most effective in somewhere like Allentown PA or Rochester NY, areas where there's lots of Young White men getting by in dilapidated, aging, desperate areas where lots of Hispanics are moving in, perhaps making the movie more of a commentary on the freefall of the Rust Belt and flyover America from the PoV of young White men trapped in a Beau Is Afraid-type psychological hurt locker pt. 1
where they're trying to make the most of a bad situation only to make it worse the way moving makes you sink faster in quicksand. Perhaps you could even tie in opioid usage somewhere in there given the film seems to consistently hint at that but never knows what to do with it until the end.I'm also a bit divided on the willow itself. I feel like the film would be far more disturbing and engrossing if she simply started acting like this out of nowhere, leaving him completely in the dark about her behavior and how it works, though I will admit that it does make the ending really special. "I wish for a billion dollars" is probably one of the best lines of any film from this decade, and I highly encourage anyone interested in this movie to see it just for that scene alone. I probably would have cut it out entirely to make the ending all the more tragic and more of a Stepfather-type thing given I weirdly feel like that's the film most similar to this one in terms of structure, themes, and aesthetic.Overall though, very good and very timely film. It was really only a matter of time before a film like this was made and I'm glad that unlike Eddington it's becoming a hit instead of a cult classic. Hollywood will probably learn all the wrong lessons from it, but at least it's proof that some Zoomer creatives are finally getting their feet in the door. May it be the beginning of a neo-Hollywood resurgence we all desperately want and need. Also one last thing, fuck Hollywood producers for once again never showing female nudity and always showing man ass whenever there's a sex scene in a film with erotic themes. It's a horror movie for fucks sake, unless it's gay I want to see some fucking tits and girl ass too, Romeo and Juliet figured this out in 1968 that the best sexual films have male and female nudity alike to cover all the bases.

I think women dont get that when a guy is obsessed with a girl they can come off as cowardly because they want to make the right move on them, its why Bear was waiting so long to express interest. But women care almost nothing about how much a guy cares about them in this hypergamous dating scene.

finally got around to see it. quite good flick and really well shot, but am I the only one who felt three quarters of it were more comedy than horror? like even the horror parts were unintentionally funny imo. and sorry, you can use all the shadows you want, but a 50kg bitch with no superpowers nor anything isn't scary.that said, the plot itself is really retarded and mostly because of the stick mcguffin because it completely breaks the plot and setting. that fucking shop is selling dragon balls that can alter reality on who knows what fucking level and no one knows this shit exists? yeah there's people online talking about it, but that shit is way too fucking overpowered for not being the most popular thing on earth.and why didn't he steal like a million dollars from the friend, buy another stick and pay someone to say "you wish you were omnipotent" and become god? also using a second stick to break the spell was the most obvious solution ever and he doesn't think about it until the end.also everything was fine and dandy for days if not weeks until he calls her out on the cancer thing. it's like if he didn't mention that then they'd be happy forever, instead from that point on she immediately starts breaking down.
