What am I in for?
>>
late 2000s reddit the movie
>>
>>222936826
One mildly amusing (at first) joke stretched out over the course of an entire movie and a bizarre completely out of place tangent from Ricky Gervais about how love isn't real, everyone lies about love being real but it's actually about eugenics, that also spans most of the film.
>>
>>222936826
a basic 80s high concept comedy but made with 2009 global financial crisis brain
>>
>>222936826
everyone that has watched that movie has had their parents die suddebly. No joke
>>
>>222936826
the bit where he has to cry is some of the worst acting ive ever seen. im pretty sure it's why he stopped acting actually.
>>
>>222937972
that's because they didn't reply to this post
>>
>>222936826
it could have been good if Ricky Gervais didnt make it.
>>
>>222936826
pretty fedora-tier, but it is still still funny because gervais is involved. gets old though, and even as a non-religious person i thought it was ridiculous by the end
>>
>>222936826
Why is he always doing that fucking face?
>>
>>222936826
Jewish "humor", a weird plot tumor taking over the movie
>>
>>222936826
A hillarious movie

see what I did there?
>>
Idiocracy but with more pretense and less comedy.
>>
>>222937972
Fuck
now im trying to remember when i watched this movie and if it was around when my mother died
>>
>>222936826
Jewish subversion
>>
it's an interesting concept that immediately gets contradicted and then devolves into a big fucking "religion is a lie but we need it i guess" message.

If nobody can lie, when Ricky says "I can make it work" about his difficult job assignment, his boss should have said "okay i believe you" and Ricky would have made it work otherwise he WOULD HAVE BEEN LYING
>>
>>222939849
cool lie ahmed
want to bring it to the white house?
>>
>>222936826
Something almost as good as After Life and, although I realise how audacious I'm being here, perhaps even Derek.
>>
>>222936826
Average execution of an interesting concept. Will be overhated by this board due to the influx of brown Christlarpers in 2016
>>
>>222940505
>brown Christlarpers
Trump and Israel take their support where they can find it, I guess.
>>
>>222940498
>writes The Office all on his own with no help from anyone else
>invents the concept of a comedy with some serious bits as well
>says the unsayable on his Netflix specials and corporate billboards
What will Ricky G do next?
>>
>>222940533
same as he always does, make a simpering twat of himself
>>
>>222940533
>invents the concept of a comedy with some serious bits as well
Are you quite serious?

Christ this has reminded me of that cunt from Phone Shop who managed to have a career for a few years just by doing a shitty Gervais impression.
>>
>>222936826

Ricky Gervais smugly trying to convince you he's a genius. You think SNL skits can run too long on one flimsy premise? Wait 'til you see this.
>>
>>222937898

Yes because people routinely scrape the barrel when looking for a long term partner rather than looksmatching and aspiring to quality specimens.
>>
>>222936826
It's basically every single Ricky Gervais feature post-Office in that it's almost 2 hours of Gervais being so far up his own ass that he's practically choking on the farts.
>>
>>222936826
Such a good concept and such a waste of it. It’s just a mediocre romcom.
>>
Perfectly good kino that makes godcucks seethe.

But besides the religious angle, there’s some good exploration around the necessity of both lies and truth in a society.
>>
>>222936826
Atheist slop.
>>
>>222940454
Hell that's the problem with any sort of plot like this. Even if people can't lie it doesn't mean they can't be mistaken about what is true. If Ricky legitimately thought he could make a job assignment work then it wouldn't be a lie regardless if it turned out otherwise. The bigger issue in the film is people blurt out truths regardless of whether someone asked or not. Hell even if someone asked you directly nothing is stopping you from just saying "I don't wish to answer'
>>
>>222942135
maybe people do actually wish to answer more than you think but just lie to themselves that they dont
>>
probably the cutest jennifer garner has ever been
