Is it kino?

I liked the whole trilogy. They get progressively worse, but only from like 8/10 to 6/10.

Nah. It's mostly just weird and confused and you can feel the inferiority complex for not being lord of the rings. Kinda like the books quite appropriately

>Kinda like the books quite appropriately
The first four Narnia books were released before LotR.

Noughties franchiseslop is something that needs to be studied, and all the parody movies of the time like Epic Movie need to be discussed too.
>>
>let's just say if I had written Narnia, things would have ended differently
what did Tolkien mean by this

Well I'll be damned

If I had written that book for my kids, it wouldn't have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that whimsical cabin in the woods and then me saying, 'OK, we're going to rape this child, don't worry.
>>

Corridor Crew has an interesting analysis on the Narnia movies special effects and especially on how Aslan keeps looking worse by every movie. He is the most detailed and best done in the first one.

I'm very upset they never made the best book into a movie (The Horse & His Boy)
>>
>>222938479
No, that would be the wonderful BBC series.

same, its also my favourite but they'd never make a movie about a kid fleeing slavery where his slavers are 1) not White & 2) obviously muslim

Tash being not only the brown men's God but also the devil makes it a bit no-bueno for ""modern audiences"". I assume The Last Battle is out for the same reason.

I have no hope whatsoever for Greta Gerwig's forthcoming Netflix adaptation.

He kind of had a point. Why use a rape monster at all if he isn't going to rape anyone? He may as well have been a talking cat or some shit
>>
>>222939017
I remember watching bits of this after reading it in elementary school. Everyone laughed at how fat Lucy was
>>
>>222938836
Yeah, I noticed that too. The last one just felt much cheaper overall, but it was still ok.

Basically this. All are watchable but if you just watched the 1st, that would be enough.

It's really amazing how little cultural impact these movies have left. It's like after Prince Caspian people just stopped giving a fuck entirely about these films.

>>222938517
Nah, Voyage of the Dawn Treader is legitimately like a 4/10. It's such a huge drop across the board in everything from special effects to acting to setpieces it's quite remarkable.

>after Prince Caspian people just stopped giving a fuck entirely about these films.
Caspian's a pretty dubious film and ...Dawn Treader's just plain bad. As a child with what felt like an atavistic fondness for sea stories that one was actually my favorite out of all the books.
>>
>>222939353
What a sad, boring little tit you are.
>>
>>222939267
>Why use a rape monster at all if he isn't going to rape anyone?
because a faun (Roman nature spirit) is not a satyr (Greek nature spirit) despite their similar appearances.
>>
>>222940443
Caspian at least had the whole romance subplot with him and Susan that got the teen girl audience somewhat interested but Voyage has nothing. It's also the one movie in the series that gets a bit too preachy at times so that probably turned off a bunch of people that liked the first two.

>>222938972
It's pretty easy to see why it got skipped, it's essentially a side story that doesn't have any major impact on the overarching plot and doesn't feature any of the core characters that the audience has some attachment to. Going from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe to a story about some rando kid that takes place in that brief window of the Pevensies ruling Narnia before they return back home again would be pretty jarring. Same reason why The Magician's Nephew gets skipped.
