>>
>>222982907
Monster is the kind of boring shit for people too insecure to enjoy real anime.
>>
>>222982907
naoki urasawa is too kino for /tv/
>>
>>222982952
Doesn't he perfectly fit the average /tv/ midwit's aesthetics pseudery?

>100 episodes of filler and "you can't just le kill le mass murderer psychopath or you will le be just le like him"
It's slop for midwits to clap and pretend they're smart for watching 'mature' anime.

I tried watching this back when I was 12 and I couldn’t make it past episode 4
I watched death note and enjoyed that. I should give this a watch again
>>
>>222983011
>death note
Also shit.
>>
>>222982994
Pretty much. Monster is the Breaking Bad of anime.

It made 12 year old me feel 4deep3you
I still enjoy it now, years later
Episode 2 is when light fucked up imo

It has the problem of midwit writers not being able to portray a genius character. It felt kinda small-minded. There's an arc early on about Johan winning the confidence of a super rich dude and his plan is just to burn down a library with a bunch of people in it?

Tenma and Nina were pretty likeable but I never felt like Johan was a threat to them. If anything he seemed to want to be friends but wasn't sure how to go about it other than isolating them by framing Tenma and killing Nina's adoptive parents.

I found Grimmer kinda annoying. Peak 2000's era "look at this quirky dude who is secretly the best when it comes down to brass tacks!"

Code Geass > Death Note
>>
>>222983088
I haven’t watched that
Last animoo I watched was Vinland saga
I liked season 1 way more than season 2; which is apparently a very controversial opinion regarding that series
I’ll look into code geass

I like Ninja Scroll.
and Last Exile.
And Gungrave but only the first part where Brandon and Harry are moving up in the criminal underworld.
Oh and Makoto Shinkai films.
>>
>>222983109
>I’ll look into code geass
You should. Stick to the original series (two seasons), though. The spin-offs are all trash, and the movie, while itself alright, builds on a retconned narrative. So as not to complicate it: Just watch Lelouch of the Rebellion R1 and Lelouch of the Rebellion R2.

>People are still super into 90's animu like Sailor Moon and Cowboy Bebop
>2000's animu is totally forgotten, even shows that obsessed nerds at the time like Wolf's Rain and Witch Hunter Robin
>>
>>222982907
It's good, but could have cut 2/3 of the episodes and not lose a single important thing. It ran way too long.
>>
>>222982907
>protagonist makes a slow, shocked face at least 3 times per episode
Never read the mango but I guarantee it's better than the cartoon.

>Last animoo I watched was Vinland saga

Maybe according to some very weird Discord people that I've never interacted with? Who in their right mind thinks Vinland Saga gets better later on? It peaks early and then turns into "muh pacifism".
>>
>>222983187
Will do

I mentioned it here and on /pol/ and got loads of rabid hate for that opinion
I was surprised

>>222983422
This whole site is retarded imo
I’m just here for the 2% of anons who are actually decent
>>
>>222983300
In the anime's case it's also another example of MAPPA replacing Wit.
>>
>>222982907
Watched the first 4 episodes and they were predictable and lame. Anime just really sucks doesnt it
>>
>>222983686
Anime website. Leave. Now.
>>

>Anime just really sucks doesnt it
No. If you're at least moderately intelligent and not a heartless piece of shit, then there's lots to enjoy.
>>
>>222983686
I don’t get why all these anime nerds don’t just read the manga rather than wasting their time watching an adaptation
>>
>>222983731
I don't post on television and film board because I like reading nerd.
>>
>>222982907
Boring shit
>>
>>222983731
I don't get why anyone engages with visual media at all. Just read text, bro.
>>
>>222982907
tenma and johan and nina are the worst part of this shit, all three fuckin suck. kino supporting cast though
>>
>>222983766
If the source material and therefore original authorial vision is text, then yeah, unless the adaptation in some way improves on it
>>
>>222983841
It regularly does. Having color is pretty neat, ya know? Animation? Music? Voiced dialogue? Woah!
>>
>>222983901
And that's only manga to anime. Now consider the leaps from straight text.
>>
>>222983070
Yeah, Johan is clearly a type that values feeling over logic. If he was mentally sound, he'd probably be writing great lit or composing. The stereotypical TV smart guy would just be in lab or something spouting equations. But I remember the character being in the background a lot early on, so things were more implied than anything else. The teamwork with the hitman was a funny contrast.
>>
I like that my favorites are always gatekept -_-

Got bored with manga somewhere at the end of vol 6

It fucking goes on forever

I wish it was more stylistic. it took cues from Giallo for the plot lmao.

That seems to be a thing with this mangaka. The only reason I didn't finish Billy Bat is life happened and I don't really feel like picking it back up right now (in perpetuity).

see all this? this is how you know it's actually extremely good and filters especially people who think they're smart and cultured. they're so busy trying to think that they're smarter than the story they're unable to remotely understand it xD
>>
>>222985469
I pray none of them falls for this terrible bait.
>>
>>222984791
Same with 20th century boys
It's actually similar (although it came earlier) with what some game devs to thanks to double dipping with patreon etc so you have games that go on forever with little to show because they get enough money to live off 'updates' (not only talking about star citizen but stuff like stoneshard and exanima etc)
Mangakas have a secure job for years if they keep dragging their comic out. Berserk was on the boat for what, a decade?

i would avoid torrenting 10bit meme vids though. waste of CPU cycles , more heat generation etc etc.

and Nippon cars should fund more movies and shows
>>

>filters especially people who think they're smart and cultured

thats movie critics and shillbots who want u to watch OBESSION and Superwokegirl movies.
>>
>>222985469
It could be the smartest story in the world.
Doesn't mean shit if I'm too bored to care.
>>
>>222983195
>Wolf's Rain
isn't that corean?
i forgot Witch Hunter though
>>222983237
that's true for all detective/thriller /tv/ shows.
>>
>>222983070
Johan is crazy, his mind is shattered by his upbringing. His mother traumatized him, he was mentally abused in 511 kinderheim...

The whole point of the story is that Johan's plan didn't make sense to us because it was insane, but for Johan it was meaningful.

The plan with the rich dude was to gain his confidence, have him killed so that he can have access to his money and start WW3 in order to kill millions. But he got bored by it when he find something more interesting which was a glimpse of his forgotten past
>>
I loved that the story doesn't go anywhere other than just show us tenma's journey through cold war europe. Sort of like a literary version of film. They don't make shows like this anymore. Sort of like what would miyazaki would make for adults.
