This actually wasn't half bad.
Literally kill yourself, James.
>>223009171yah, way better than the first one. not gonna lie I felt some emotions towards the end
>capeshitgrow up
>>223009189After you Snyderbros.
capeslop isn't really my thing but I find myself liking everything James Gunn was involved with. Talented guy
>>223009194i was sad when polkadot man got squashed. he just wanted to kill his mom man
>>223009171It was genuinely great but really brought down by harley
>>223009171It had some funny parts, and he made me feel emotions for some irrelevant Z list villain
The first one was better. It had more style.
>>223009426agree. i thought all of the harley scenes could've been removed and the movie would have been better for it. Margot Robbie is just not a good actress and i felt someone else could've really done better
>>223009171Imagine being a DC fan
>>223009479I don't think the first one has a single scene in daylight.
>>223009194I liked both and the helicopter acene and Harley screaming for captain boomerang was heartbreaking. His defeated shoulder shrug was the piece de resistance.
>>223009487Her scenes would have been alright if she wasn't wearing so much clothing. What's the point of the crazy slut character if she's not dressed like a literal whore?
>>223009487i don't dislike margot but all her scenes after the beach just murder the pacing. the film doesn't really know what to do with her so it puts her in her own film within a film and it really doesn't work
>>223009171It was a pretty solid movie, and it showed that Gunn understood the sillier parts of siver age DC to make DC movies that are actually good. Problem is, he should have never been given full creative control. Pretty much the first thing he did was hire his wife and the dude who fucks her as the main focus of the entire cinimatic universe, and then he remembered that he was also supposed to do some super man and other stuff that people recognize, but he doesnt really care about
>>223009549>>223009560Margot wanted to focus on her craziness and not her raw sexuality.
I liked it but I'm just really sick of nu-harley and have been for years now
Better than his Superman movie, and I thought his Superman movie was decent. He has a good grasp on what makes the DC "vibe", but Superman looked cheap at times. Suicide Squad had better cinematography, which made the film feel more impactful.Either that or they had the same tier of cinematography and the character of Superman just demands more. Gunn writing with someone like Snyder or Singer directing. But yes, all the Harley scenes were boring.
>>223009458I was happy, floating, staring at the stars
>>223009587Ok but why was she allowed to make that decision? Like>>223009560 says they don't really do much with her for the whole middle part of the movie and that would have been easier to overlook if she wasn't wearing pants or a shirt.
>>223009656After seeing Suicide Squad and Guardians 3 I thought he would do no wrong, but I expected more out of Superman.I liked it sure, I liked that it didn't follow familiar beats that other Superman movie did, but started with the assumption that we know the character, I liked having other heroes for a change of pace, Lex was perhaps too cartoony, too evil.....mmh is hard to pin point my problems with it.
>>223009171James Gunn has a really, really weird obsession with making everything grotesque and callous - the nonstop murder (for sport even, in this film) to Superman, with the bizarre and disturbing decision to have the gang of "heroes" try and blind the intentionally cute-looking kaiju then indifferently blow it up from the inside. He does this with everything he touches and he's a valid case for the criticism "mean spirited." He's really uncreative and uses hyper-violence and gross imagery to try and hide / make up for that. It event extends to Creature Commandos... Fuck you James. Faggot.
>>223009720Humans were the real monsters all along.Godspeed, starro.
>>223009171Yeah i like watching the scene with margot when I want a quick spurt
>>223009171if you remove margot retardies scenes its quite good
>>223009519So?
>>223009171Post Rata
>>223009566>and it showed that Gunn understood the sillier parts of siver age DC to make DC movies that are actually good. You mean the scenes meant to shit on these characters for being silly? While the characters he wants to portray as cool had complete redesigns and were more serious?
>>223009566that stuff in pm s1 happened before he took control, they had to retcon the aquaman scene. Gunn actually turned them down when they first offered it to him.
Why haven't we seen more of our cute sleepy girl?
has gunn ever directed something that isnt shit?
>>223009828It's fucking ugly.
>>223009888I would say the new one was uglier.
>>223009768i mean what can you do with the most boring superhero? he should have just loaded more green lantern fillion into the film and tossed the ugly little mexican and negro
>>223009882She was in the roadhouse movie.
>>223009778the suicide squad has the most heart of any superhero film combined since deadpool 2
Get woke, go broke.
>>223009902I guess so if dark blue and pitch black are your favorite colors.
>>223009171Describe the best scene in the movie.
>>223009931I could say the same, just replace dark blue for orange teal.
>>223009882She played in the Anaconda reboot. Gunn loves casting pretty Portuguese supermodels.
>>223009938they murder like 50 squatemalans and then find out they were friendly
>>223009938The beginning beach scene was perfection.
>>223009938Peacemaker having to kill Ratcatcher 2
>>223009938Margot Robbie's extremely sexual erotic feet
>>223009989The one copied straight from Deadpool 2?
>>223009938Harley's breakout for me.
>>223009968But you can actually tell that it's orange or teal because a lot of the movie takes place in daylight. And it's a comic book movie, bright garish colors should be a given.
>>223010041>bright garish colors should be a given.Looking horrible should be the norm? What are you even saying?
>>223009768Yeah it's hard to describe why it doesn't feel like a homerun, even though it's very solid. I think-visual style was too pedestrian/not "rich" enough for a Superman film-some slightly odd casting (not quite sure if Lex as well as the Justice Gang were right for their roles)But the movie really felt filled with a lot of fun energy, I'll give it that. The monkey bot farm, saving the squirrel, "Mr. Handsome", etc.Grant Morrison by way of James Gunn.
>>223010050They're based on comic books. They should be colorful like the source material.
>>223010095Not every comic book is the same. I don't get where people get this idea.
>>223010085Nicholas Hoult sucks the life out of every scene he's in, in every movie he's in.
>>223010011>>223010022when it first came in theaters, the screenshots of Harley using her feet to break out people posted here is what made me go see it on the big screen
>>223010085>Grant Morrison by way of James Gunn.Tom King. King helped with the script.
>>223010109And not every comic book movie needs to be dark and gritty.
>>223009566Gunn has a real skill for making obscure characters likable for audiences, but the problem is he only cares about obscure shit. His DCEU is really unfocused with how he wants to give projects to random characters like Clayface and Jimmy Olsen.
>>223010125But you seem to want every color to be saturated up the wazoo, otherwise it is "ugly" according to you.
Elba was a bad pick, he definitely wasnt coming back so for capeshit it has a protagonist that has no interest in returning for multiple installments. I doubt hell ever come back.
>>223010135>Gunn has a real skill for making obscure characters likable for audiencesWhile completely changing them, you should add.
>>223010123Well good for him then. Never hated King like /co/ does. He's not the second coming but he's alright. That being said, either King or Gunn were totally channeling Morrison for certain things. The Daily Planet crew felt very "All Star Superman" for example. (That guy from SNL as the office blowhard was kino casting)
>>223010154he was a great foil to cena and played the leader of a bunch of insane misfits perfectly
>>223010138No, I said the first suicide squad was ugly.
>>223010193Yeah the character was good they should've picked a younger actor more willing to show back up though. Or recast Smith and made it Deadshot preferably as well, who for like 10 years has been the head of the squad. Im assuming that may have been a rights issue if they agreed contractually to use Smith if they brought Deadshot back or something.
>>223009938When Sharkboy is reading the book upside and saying, "me smart" made lol. Like, he's a shark, why is he reading a book lel? Funniest shit I ever saw since that English guy did the crazy walk on thay old show Motts and Totts, fucking classic.
>>223009426>>223009487It's the character, made for a children's show and mostly celebrated by women. Harley Quinn is just cringe and pointless, you can't write your way out of that stupid accent
>>223009171It was shit and the failed astroturfing for peacemaker was just sad
>>223009171>le human life is worthless hahaHilarious humor, typical for God's chosen directors
>>223009980The joke is human life is worthless haha. It's FUNNY to see people die for not reason and not sad at all!t. posted from Tel Aviv
>>223010369big cringe bro, cry me a river over your lil brownoids
>>223009519You'd be wrong.>>223009560Have you seen Birds of Prey? No film knows what to do with Harley.>>223009656No, you were right. It had better cinematography. Superman used the same dipshit lense the flash movie had and it suffered for it IMO.>>223009938They bond in the club. Polkadot man dances with friends but in his mind they are all his mother, whom he wants dead.
>>223010135Gunn only shines when he has full creative control. When he's forced to comply with lore, things start to quickly deteriorate.
i wonder if i really liked TSS bordering on loving it if I should go see Clayfaceyou guys know more about the comic to film biz than i do
>>223011089>They bond in the club. Polkadot man dances with friends but in his mind they are all his mother, whom he wants dead. looked like he was happy for the first time ever
>>223009171the gayest shit ever made actually
>>223011405That's not moulin rouge.
>>223009778The guy got his start with Troma. Of course he's obsessed with being grotesque
>>223009778I noticed the same thing from Snyder's movies, there's unnecessarily obscene details that aren't needed to make the story work
>>223009171Why did they let Gunn make this turboflop again? Making the exact same movie with the exact same title what, 5 years later? just because some comicsfag really wanted to prove something should've already been a complete non-starter. Marketing this thing must've been a nightmare. And why didn't they sack him immediately afterwards after it was a complete commercial failure despite having nearly the same budget as the first Suicide Squad?
