ITT: Embarrassing roles from established actors.
>>
This is nowhere near his worst role.

There are also good actors who are a magnet for really terrible roles. Alan Cummings is probably one of the biggest, so many awful awful films

He's the same kind of old school classy as Christopher Lee. Won't turn down any roles, will give 100% even if he knows its shit, for know other reason than the love of the game. And to finance his extreme alcoholism and likely drug use.

One of the earliest Uwe Boll movies. People were confused as to how he could get name actors in his movies despite not knowing how to direct. With people not realizing actors are whores that will do just about anything for a paycheck if they need the money.

>>223041328

It's wild how much things have changed. I was rewatching The Hangover and forgot how casually they use the word "faggot."
>>
>>223042557
>2009

It was before Twitter gained social prominence. Almost all ills can trace itself back to tumblr and twitter (which is where all the tumblrites went). In 1995, a sub-section of society would complain about "faggot" being used in a movie. But they had no means of getting that message out, so they grumbled, and then moved on. In 2012, they could blast it on tiwtter, and other twitter addicted people jump on the outrage band-wagon, and then hashtags start. #Oscarssowhite was in 2015. #Metoo 2018. It's all connected. Each wave Twitter gains more power, and more power to dictate how society functions.

no company will dare put something in a movie that would result in a twitter backlash. So they get a veto on everything. Everything.

“Established actor” is some weasel word shit that allows for fucking tim allen, the deppgoblin and mike myers to be posted…

lol.

depp was in hell at the time (and continues to be) because he was a boytoy qt male lead who got gifted every good role in the ‘90s… and then became one of the ugliest alcies worldwide. a hideous little troll mired in controversy. what fucking good roles has he gotten since mort hahahahaha fucking idiots…

if anything it’s an unusually major release for a guy who was on gerard depardieu levels of irrelevance.

tim allen is a stand-up non-actor who hit hold with a roseanne type sitcom in the ‘90s. at no fucking point did he ever go above d level films. was never respected due to being a joke retard.

mike myers had wayne’s world and the first two austin powers… back in the ‘90s.

he then had crazy massive failure after failure. i married an axe murderer is an all-time dog.

these fucking threads talk like DDL did cars 3 or something… it’s always losers doing loser roles.

People overlook that Boll is an autistic savant when it comes to the film business (and I cannot stress the "business" part enough). He follows the industry extremely closely, and is very aware of the gaps actors have between projects, which is how he got the stacked cast for Dungeon Siege
>see this famous actor has two weeks between films
>offers 50k for five days of shooting, no preparation, flights and hotel costs covered
>filming done very quickly, almost all first takes, no reshoots, ever
>allegedly treats actors very well, loves to show off his gourmet tastes by taking celebs to fancy restaurants (he used to run a Michellin star restaurant)
He also has two unarguably kino flicks (Postal and Rampage) which is more than the average Hollywood slime is able to produce in a lifetime.

Now, I'm kind of curious to rewatch it and see how it stacks up to the dogwater that Hollywood shits out these days.

I wasn't implying that Sadler did a dumb role, or even that the role itself in Dreamcatcher was bad, (Freeman didn't do it justice at all, sure). I was simply saying that Sadler should have played the role. I honestly think it would've elevated the rest of the movie thinking on it now.

Problems with the movie are the dialogue and the self-seriousness of it. The dialogue is like something written in the 60s or 70s.

The plot is dumb. Everyone complains about the shit weasels but that's probably the best part, IMO. What isn't horrifying about breathing in some spores and getting your rear ripped out? It makes much more sense than chestbursters. Nah, the dumb stuff is the ridley being so virulent and trying to infect earth for decades, yet they always seem to crash somewhere else. If they wanted to get into the water supply, it wouldn't be fucking hard at all to do.
