I think the movie tried to make Bateman too soft and wacky sometimes. Sure he kills people, but sometimes his actions are just cartoony and absurd.

The movie has to be wildly different from the book. You can't really adapt books into movies in my opinion, especially a post modern one like this where the form plays a major function. At most you can adapt a plot or a story

And as just a series of events, American Psycho is tremendously boring. Even the author believed a faithful adaptation would've been impossible and he was right, but he still liked the movie. I enjoy both but they're radically different experiences
