Still, doesn’t mean he can’t do another film with the Smog Monster, even if it isn’t tied in to the Minus continuity.

Makes sense since the title has Zero in it which was a dead give away. And also because they already have this model they made for the ride a few years back which likely gonna get tweaked a little bit much like how Ride Godzilla got tweaked to Minus One and Minus Zero. Also should note they have a Rodan and Mechagodzilla model too, but that's likely for Minus Zero Sequel (If there is one.)

All Godzilla series start serious and then become monster fight slop about a movie or two later. Showa did it, Heisei did it, Millennium legit started off with monster fight slop. Legendary-verse did it, and now Reiwa as well. You cannot stop the inevitable. (Unless your Shin Godzilla, and even that may have it soon according to the co director of that film if he had made a follow up.).

I fucking love my WWE smackdown Monster slop, not surprised it's Ghidorah again though, could've used any other Toho monster that needs more spotlight, hell as much as I'm not a fan of Hedorah, he would've fit the aesthetic better.
I guess I'm partially annoyed cause Legendary Ghidorah is still in everyone's heads, but I guess Minus Goji also needs his own Ghidorah.

They already have the model ready from the amusement park ride
I don't know if there's truth but I've heard rumors of Ghidorah having evolutionary stages, 1st is a ground based "drake" form, then a flying single headed "wyvern" form, then finally the classic 3 headed design as the third form
>>
>>223065536
Also of note is the lightning from the teaser trailer is blue, and Ghidorah was originally planned to be an iridescent blue that would shift to gold or silver depending on how the light hits it
>>
Where's my nigga Rodan?
>>
>>223066344
why not rodan and anguirus vs godzilla and then they become buddies in the sequel to fight ghidorah?
>>
I would've preferred Biollante personally. They could've spun the radiation effect Godzilla has on anything organic into creating some fucked up plant person amalgamation due to the fallout from him BTFOing the tanks that shot at him. Wouldn't be a massive stretch to say any plants that grew in the area prior to them trying to rebuild began incorporating the DNA of the poor bastards caught in the blast zone and simply dug down into the soil to grow.

Theres shots of yellow lightning as well. I would think Godzilla gets it himself in some way which would be blue vs yellow lightning/electricity. Only thing would be cool here is if Ghidorah is rocking these colors as the big twist of it all.
>>
>>223066078
Hedorah requires pollution as a plot device because that's his main energy source. Deathla was the scrapped concept of a Hedorah relative which fed off nuclear waste and decaying organic matter

>MINUS ZERO

That title doesn’t ,are any fucking sense and I blame it all on the Japs. Idc that it’s probably because Monster Zero is the villain it’s such a huge miss to not follow their own naming convention and call this one Godzilla Zero. Going from Minus One to Minus Zero is retarded if you know what the numbers mean and completely goes against the “Japan beginning at negative 1 after the war” underpinning. Fucking cash grab bullshit

gravity anguirus bros… not like this…
these movies were gonna be a trilogy, right? i wonder who they’ll bring in for the third. ghidorah always feels so final-boss-ish that most of the rest of the kaiju catalogue feels like a downgrade.
i know it was more of a King Kong movie, but the orangutan and big white one from the last Monsterverse movie never really felt like much of anything, though that could just be a consequence of most of the American-made ones being kinda generic. really has me hoping that supernova having space godzilla and/or gigan is legit, just cause it’d be something with history to it.
i would’ve personally loved a more down-to-earth sequel with just goji, anguirus, and the muto as the surprise secret addition, then done ghidorah 3rd, but i’m sure that’s a very niche opinion lol

Biollante or Destoroyah still possible, but I think even Toho understands the fatigue of alpha-omega serious tone series people get numbed out by the third title. All they need to do is look at their track record of every initial Godzilla in a new era and how much attendance drops from first to second and beyond.

>no Yamazaki said Minus Zero is the last of his movies
And then he announces another Godzilla film at the end of 2027 because this film made triple the money than the first film did. Only director who called it quits was Anno due to his bipolarism with Evangelion.
>>
>>223071421
Looking back, and if you actually paid attention to the ideas vetoed by Toho's "Godzilla Room" (cabal of executives who were in charge of all writing and editing decisions for the late Heisei and Millennium series), you'd realize that decline is entirely self inflicted
>>
>>223071421
Biollante is more likely for Shin Godzilla 2, since Shin 1 reworked the story elements of 1984 for a modern setting
Genichiro Shiragami could be introduced as a protege or research partner of Goro Maki who continued his work after his death
>>
>>223071421
Biollante will likely never get another film besides showing up as an extra seeing Toho is still traumatized by how badly Godzilla vs Biollante performed at the box office in Japan. They really really really underestimated on releasing it the same week as both Back to the Future part 2, and Tim Burtons Batman. This traumatization is why the studio has always played with super safe when it came to Godzilla films involving other monsters with it being Mechagodzilla, Rodan, King Ghidorah, and Mothra. Really didn't help either that Godzilla Final Wars was a colossal dud that they didn't expect to flop harder than say Terror of Mechagodzilla or Godzilla vs Megaguirus (Which even Bandai feared that film was gonna flop by putting the figures in a blister pack lol.)
>>
>>223071950
They'd have to move heaven and hell to get Anno to come back to make a Shin Sequel though. I want a sequel, but doubt Shinji Higuchi can do it solo.

>>
>>223071989
Most of those execs are dead and retired now since they were also heavily biased towards the Showa era. Shin, the Fest shorts, Minus One, and now Minus Zero are all evidence that the Heisei fans are gaining more control over the brand
Also Tokyo Vanishing is likely to set up or show a new meltdown and Junior, since next year (2027) is the 25th anniversary of the Kiryu saga (Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, Tokyo SOS) and meltdown would allow a transition from MireGoji to KiryuGoji
>>
>>223071516
He's up against FW Goji who no diffs the whole roster before hitting SSJB Ghidorah with an RKO that put the entire franchise out of commission for 10 years. That there are two confirmed sexes for Hedorahs and the "fight" wasn't the female one giving birth to a bunch of Minilla is solely due to Japanese decency laws
>>
>>223072090
>Shin, the Fest shorts, Minus One, and now Minus Zero are all evidence that the Heisei fans are gaining more control over the brand
And yet they're basically at best repeating exactly those old heads did to a complete T by playing the super safe post 1990 Toho did. At worst, they're doing stuff thats so different that it would've been brand suicide had it been any other monster such as all three anime series/movies (including still on shelf Godzilla anime of the high school kid getting Godzilla's powers like it were a offbrand Digimon special.). If they were bold, we'd have at the very least fucking Gigan to show up in these movies rather than constantly milk the same four Godzilla co-stars yet again.

Biollante and Destoroyah got new forms for a recent game, Spacegodzilla is Supernova's big bad (unless you're an intern with secret info on the real antagonist), Tokyo Vanishing's big bad is Monster X/Keizer Ghidorah

Gonna be funny to see that it turns out Spacegodzilla is also an original monster again after everyone thought Shimo was Spacegodzilla in the last monsterverse flick. Nah, Shimo was always going to be in the movie with or without Godzilla since the deal was done shortly after Godzilla vs Kong was complete. The only thing they changed was adding Mothra into the film at the last min seeing the film itself was thought to going to bomb without her being involved. There was even alleged images of the monster Mothra replace circulating from some leaked test screening which the testers gave a negative response until the change was made.

They may use it, the used Ifubuke's theme in the prior movie. His themes are just attached to the characters at this point and the japs are pretty autistic about paying homage to the classics, which I respect
>>223070658
It's basically the same exact design from the previous movie are you retarded? They just made him bigger, and have a few more spikes, and a few more red glowing molten bits it seems. I like the edits and can't wait to see him in action. This has ended up being one of my favorite Godzilla designs ever, and I'm shocked because I hated it when it first came out. I love when Godzilla is filled with malice, and this version of him feels the most deliberately evil

You can tell the prior film left a big effect because it's getting needless retarded hate on here, which means it's popular and in people's minds if faggots feel the need to shill against it, as is the style of our time

Pretty sure Biollante got out of the doctors house after when the arab agent guy attacked the two American agents trying to get the Godzilla cells that were in the house. If I remember correctly, the arab guy shot a window when he panicked when the pre biollante vine started attacking him. Godzilla went to the lake because he heard Biollantes calls and was more curious on why he's basically hearing "himself" from far away. Basically a curious Godzilla who was likely showing some kind of territorial aspect (Which isn't too surprising seeing Godzilla did follow birds in the previous film after hearing them making bird noises as they bailed when Godzilla attacked the nuclear powerplant to feed on its reactor.)

Godzilla vs Biollante was the last mostly original Godzilla film before they went basically full remake old Showa films that all ended up being just overall worse and lesser versions of those said films. Also the Tristar film was another reason why the Heisei films started declining hard after Godzilla vs King Ghidorah.
>>
>>223074992
The Tristar film was released in 98, the Heisei era ended in 1995 with Destroyah.
What actually led to the decline of the Heisei era was the decline of the Japanese film industry (which was never as successful as their television industry) and the crash of the Japanese economy.
However, the Millennium series WAS made as a response to 1998, and featured some Showa type movies such as 2000 and Megaguirus. But the Millennium era is forgotten for a reason, because it sucks.

You can always smell a non-fan a mile away when they trot out the "muh nuclear metaphor" shit like that's some ironclad rule, because they heard someone else say it. >>
>>223067397
As I understand, they approached Toho about doing a Godzilla vs Gamera movie, and Toho was like "Nah, that's ok..."
>>
>>223075433
As I said, they tried that in the Millennium era, and nobody knows who Orga or Megaguirus are for a reason. Simply having "an original monster" is not the easy solution it seems. There actually has to be a compelling reason to have a new monster - a new storyline - and if you are being original just to be original that's how you get a Ebirah or Gabara or King Caesar literally who. You need a good story first and foremost, and most "original" Godzilla opponents end up being either giant bugs or incoherent vaguely Godzilla shaped blobs.

The reason why we keep getting Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla is because they work. They have clear rivalries and stories naturally follow. There are other fan favorites they should also try adapting, who are all proven not only popular but have good storylines. Hedorah has an easy enviromentalist storyline, Gigan has arguably the one of the best space invader storyline (with the best being the Black Hole Gorilla aliens) due to the strength of the cockroach aliens concept, and Biollante also has strong potential due to it being a natural rival of Godzilla but also the novelty of being plant-based.

Fans do deserve different monsters, but not necessarily 'new' ones.
>>
>>223067585
Should have been Godzilla Zero and skipped ahead to the 60s, and then wrap the third one up in the 80s with Godzilla One, when Japan was an economic powerhouse. It could have been a multi-generational thing, and it could have been cool seeing Japan evolving to deal with the kaiju threat over the course of decades.

Don Fry was talking about it recently, and said someone on set handed him a gun with blanks and he misunderstood the interpreter, thinking they were telling him to test the gun, and he just fired it on set while there was a bunch of people standing around, and everyone was like "Dude, what the fuck?"

Pacific Rim was important I think because not only did it revitalize interest, but I think it showed just what the main appeal of kaiju were in the first place (the scale of the fights, the sense of weight and power) and how to achieve it. We wouldn't have gotten Shin Godzilla or Minus One without Pacific Rim in the way that we did.
It's all a 'conversation' between east and west. It's why 1998 isn't as much of a disaster as people think it is, it was part of this same conversation and was quite influential in certain aspects - especially in tying in local politics and making Godzilla seem more 'natural'. It's not a perfect film, but people forget that after Destroyah, Godzilla was "dead" and Toho was ready to retire the character for decades because it was becoming too costly and there was a lack of public interest.
>>
>>223075844
Yeah, the whole cast is returning. On one hand, I like that cast so I'm glad to see them return, but on the other, I think it might have been cooler if the timeskip had been considerable larger. Like the little girl maybe being in her 20s.

>>223075867
I do wonder how big the gap would have been if '98 hadn't essentially summoned the Millennium series into existence. There's 21 years between Destroyah and Shin Godzilla, and even the latter almost feels more like a Hideaki Anno vehicle that just so happens to be a Godzilla movie.

While I can appreciate the concept, this is probably one of the rare Godzilla movies that needs to bring back the cast of the previous movies. Their chemistry was absolutely one of the main reasons why Minus 1 was as good as it was, if they didn't have that absolutely dynamite rapport then the entire early to middle section of the movie would've been a slog. It really says something that four guys on a boat shooting explosives were fun enough to be their own little side piece before the giant monster stuff ever came about.

I know these characters, I like these characters, I wanna see these characters again. That's rare for this genre. Not unheard of, Miki is and will forever be one of my favorite Goji characters and Asagi sold the Gamera Trilogy, but obviously very rare.

They hit it out of the park with the M.U.T.O's and Skull Devil's but we're never seeing them in any significant way ever again. Tiamat was cool too but they killed her off after a brief fight with Godzilla
Legendary's Kaiju's are all underutilized and Kong v Godzilla 2 was filled with giant gorilla's that don't do anything other than immediately job to Godzilla. I'm tired of the Monkey

It's such a bad move to see the Legendary Godzilla series start off strong and start whimpering out because Toho requiring obscene payment to use Kaiju's they haven't touched in decades
And including Kong into the story was a bad move in hindsight, it's done nothing but hinder Godzilla's role n the story. He's been reduced to a big dumb bully and not the guy trying to keep everyone playing nice with each other.
He also doesn't feel strong? It's his atomic breath never connecting when fighting Kong, it's weird. He just singes some hair off Kong before going back to missing all his shots. Same with Skar King too. What was the point of Godzilla getting that new upgrade if the only thing he's allowed to hit is another bigger Kaiju who can tank it and suffer no visible damage. Even got knocked out by Kong repeatedly punching him the face with the Kaiju equivalent of a knuckle duster. If it's that simple as getting on Godzilla and start wailing then what's the point?
I don't know, I just wasn't very entertained watching Godzilla spam his atomic breath in a fight he could have handled hand to hand because he wasn't taking Kong seriously. Godzilla's rivalry with Skar also doesn't seem to matter much in the final fight. They have a brief back and forth but really Skar is a Kong villain that we're told is Godzilla villain and Godzilla doesn't really need to be there

I think what really sucks is that Kongfags get really uppity when you bring any of this up and act like Godzillafags are asking for too much
>>
>>223076575

But you can see how lame it is when he never hits anything that couldn't take it for plot reasons. Skar had an army of Monkey's but Godzilla opts to shove them out of the way and they disappear from the movie afterwards
The audience wants to see what Godzilla's new upgrade can do and because he isn't allowed to hit Skar and Kong square in the chest with it his only other option is the kaiju that can tank it no problem, so it feels like we're back to the normal blue atomic breath

The key flaw in the plan is that Godzilla just kills the clone anyway in the process of absorbing Godzilla.

This guy's style of "let's do Godzilla one again with the people and the people drama" works fine when you're actually doing the original Godzilla.
That sort of style sucks for the monster vs monster movies. All the films that do this in any Godzilla era, where they try to give weight to the people running around doing people things, they fail to make the people interesting and the people only serve to suck up time and pad out what should be more VFX shots of the monsters fighting.

You can disagree but you're wrong. Pretentious people drama only works in solo movies.
>>
>>223078355
Godzilla movies have always required human plots, and when the human plots suck then the movie really sucks.
Like take Ebirah for example. Everything about the Red Bamboo and Mothra's people is fucking nonsense. But it exists to give the human characters something to do when Godzilla isn't on screen. It's required unless you want to remove humans completely.

well, if most people dislike Ghidorah (i don't), then who should it be and why? i understand Ghidorah is supposedly final boss tier, but wouldn't he also be like joker to batman? like his archnemesis but not necessarily the final boss
>>
>ape vs gojira
>ape loses horrendously and gets bitchslapped
>now they ask ghidorah to return
im thrilled to see that three headed hairless biped reptile get btfo

Cope. Fucking SpaceGodzilla has more clout than your walking turd with pussy eyes.

The explosive fires are more emotional than other war movies. WTF is the hands over the map thing. Nagasawa is a great actress but too modern for this. I love the FOAM on Gojira when he is surfacing.

The logo at first looked like it was a woman praying, everybody tought the female lead from Minus One would turn into another monster or they were goin to do the ''2 godzillas'' plot, but it turned out the logo was flipped.

I'm guessing she's going to have some kind of a link to Godzilla, and is able to predict his movements on some level. It looked like she might have been zeroing in on his location. They're doing a Miki thing with her.

Holy shit guys I've got it! The perfect "first enemy" for Godzilla to fight would be another Godzilla, like the exact same species! We could have one bad one and one good one that humanity has to learn to respect and team up with
>>
>>223075600
that would requiere flat out regenerating certain shots and facial expressions with AI or clever masking because like the MCU, a lot of that shit is intertwined.

Yamazaki's stock in trade is accessible nostalgia. Anno can't even tell a coherent story.

Godzilla 2000 is the greatest film of all time. Fuck you, fuck your mother, fuck the boat your ancestors arrived on, fuck the dog that walks behind them, fuck the stupid troglodyte that founded your whole bloodline. Fuck you. Fuck them all.

We go a shinden in the first movie and now a Taitei. We can't stop winning planebros!

I other news, Godzilla has never ever beat King Ghidorah in fair 1v1 so there might be more surprises there.

its like saying "ugh godzilla again? when are we getting new leading kaijus?"
>>
>>223083676
nope. shin sucks my cock and ass. complete waste of a movie. godzilla was just in the background while the entire movie was an almost comical parody/criticism of inefficient japanese bureaucracy. we fucking get it, the joke doesnt need to run the ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE FLICK.

i hate every single one of the shin movies and i fucking hate anno for his abysmal usage of the IPs. he even just reused the staff and actors for every fucking production too. his death threats are VERY much earned and deserved.
>>
>>223070686
based on the trailer it looks like the infected gf is going to be one of the first psychics that can feel the monsters and try and telepathically communicate with them. I've been waiting for them to bring that plot line back

>Orc Stain
never ever, it seems. just have to make do with the first volume and Stokoe's art book
>>
>>223084888
i was thinking she would lead to mothra. either by finding her through her mind, or turning into her (if this happens then suicide boy must be eaten by godzilla and have his soul "pacify" him and then their love as monsters is explained)
>>
>>223084962
that would be reasonable to assume, especially if this does end up being a trilogy. I hope it does.
