The weird insane amount of movies where there’s tiny scenes with different cuts for some reason is probably 99% of the reason the Mandela effect exists

I remember seeing this scene as a kid in Army of Darkness because it was hot that Sheila was stripped but I never saw it again once my copy was lost. all major versions don’t have this version of the scene for some reason

Any weird edits or rare cuts of movies you guys remember?
>>

For me it's that all my memories of the best scenes in Scooby doo monster Island turned out to be deleted scenes from the DVD that I forgot were deleted scenes

that bitch in moonraker had braces. that's the entire fucking joke. IDK what the jews gained from doing this, but she had braces
>>
>>223080102
I can relate to this specifically for Army of Darkness, as well. First time I ever saw it I was at a friend's house and it was on TV in the middle of the night. This would have been in like '95 or so.

Then when I later got the movie on VHS it was largely the same, there were just all these tiny minor little differences. Made me think I was going crazy.

I remember finding this and I never really could get details on how early Sam Raimi had written and planned out the Army of Darkness story

Look at this concept art from 1984. It seems his initial plan was for Evil Dead 2 to immediately carry on from Evil Dead 1, where the ending with ash being attacked by the kandarian demon sends him back in time, making the army of darkness plot straight into evil dead 2

Obviously they couldn’t get a budget for that kind of movie so they scaled back to more of an extended cabin horror like the first
>>
>>223080322
The annoying part for me is the edit changing “good, bad, I’m the guy with the gun” to “I’m not that good”

Like, what possible reason is there to change this line?
>>
>>223080102
Grace Park getting her tiddie sucked in Romeo Must Die. Saw it twice in theaters, but on home releases it's always cut out.
>>
>>223080389
Never saw anything like that. In my case it was more just slight cuts to scenes, like described in the OP. I don't remember it all clearly, like I said this would have been 30 years ago - but I'm pretty sure the 'Gimme some sugar, baby' scene in the barn was longer than on the VHS copy I got years later.

>>223080221
She did. I never owned a James Bond film on video but they were always played on telly and that scene was a classic

I remember seeing the captured slave girls being nude as the skeletons drag them around in chains. You only see them for like 2 seconds in the dominant version and I can’t find which version has more of them

Also it never really explains what exactly skeletons are gonna do with what are obviously sex slaves

This scene in The Fifth Element. Just before Gary Oldman chokes, he had a couple of lines where he mocks religion. Something about God creating chaos and destruction that people like Ian Holm's character cleaned up.

I remember seeing in the cinema version because someone in front of me walked out.

It was missing from the DVD and Blu Ray releases.

In the original cut of Carrie there was a fair bit of nudity in the British and European cut in the shower scene and also in the original Yankee-doodle-dandy cut. The actresses were all over 21, so this was fine even though they were playing teenage schoolgirls.

Then when it was released on video in the USA they used the "safe for tv" version to avoid any potential controvercy not because they were playing schoolgirls, but because Americans didn't like nudity, as they found it sinful. The British and European video releases used the original cinema cut as it was a different distributor. When the DVD remaster was released it just used the inferior Yankee-doodle-dandy video cut and everyone pretended you'd never seen the close up of the bloody minge (it was a close up so probably a body double but the thought was there).

A similar thing happened with alternative cuts and the movie Euro Trip. Michelle Trachtenberg had second thoughts about her topless flash scene and asked that it be removed in the edit at the last minute. That was done, but after some of the dubbed versions had been completed and these were shown in European cinemas (I think it was a French dub, but I might be wrong). You can find pictures of it on the internet if you look hard enough, I happened upon it not long after the film's release so it predates anyone really being able to convincingly edit moving pictures without access to stuff above the technical capabilities of home computers at the time. By the time the video and DVD releases came out everything used the American cut. The studio had to compensate her for the blunder, but this gained her a reputation as a "difficult" actress, which is why she never had a role as big as Euro Trip again.

It didn't happen in the film, what you're thinking of is a Russ Abott sketch, involving his spoof James Bond style character Basildon Bond. There was a scene where Les Dennis was playing Jaws and Bella Emberg was Dolly. The joke was not only that she had braces, but they were taking ages to kiss so Basildon stood behind jaws with a magnet.

I've seen two versions of Army of Darkness- in one, the night scenes are very bad quality (really grainy footage, low definition etc) and in the other it's perfectly fine but a lot of jokes are missing/changed/shortened. For example the bit in the windmill is a lot shorter, skips a lot of the tiny Ash bits. The one with the poor quality night scenes has the ending where Ash takes too many drops of the sleep potion and wakes up to a post apocalyptic world.

I'd record movies off TV in the 90's, so some of the scenes I remember the most aren't in the DVD versions because TV airings had extra deleted scenes
>>
>>223080221
I was never into those movies but I distinctly remember that scene because my parents showed it to me and my sister or told us to come from the kitchen watch because she had braces and we were getting ours soon or I was scared to. And it stuck with us because it was a scene that my parents knew about before we were born or into movies. And her having braces is why my mom would even think it was funny and expected we would. I've never watched the movie to completion and didn't know its title until the ME. That and FotL, when I was much older I opened a bag of new tshirts on my bed and realized the cornucopia was gone and literally said to myself that it was the dumbest corporate decision, one of the only "things are changing...for the worse" memories I have. But the Mandela thing itself, he was always grifting and handwaving off stupid lore similar to John McCain later, why young white kids knew him.

Michelle trachtenberg did NOT have any actual topless scenes in Eurotrip. I know this because she was only 17 when they filmed it. And even if they wanted her to do it and she had her parents permission or whatever, she explicitly said she wouldn’t do any nudity.

There’s one deleted scene where she is meant to flash some drivers to try and get a car to pick them up. But you can see why it was deleted. She is only filmed from the back so she isn’t nude, and you can still see black tape around her midriff to cover her front up

Also apparnetly it was freezing and raining so the scene was just bad vibes to make, hence removing it
>>
>>223080357
foot in the door dude. if you can get people to accept something small it makes it easier to get away with something bigger later
>>
Apparently they would update and edit scenes and effects in the Disney plus marvel shows after their first airing because they were rushing them out the door so fast they were barely complete. The version you see now is not the version that first aird. Kind of like animes with DVD versions vs TV versions.

my dir cut version says
" Subtitles form the MGM DVD were incorporated into this rip. The Spanish, Portuguese, and Indonesian subtitles from the MGM DVD were re-synced and OCR'd. The Chinese, Korean, and Thai subtitles from the MGM DVD were resized for a 576p and re-synched. The Russian subtitle track came from a Russian release. And the English and German subtitle tracks came from the German Bluray and were also OCR'd.

The Bluray is from the same transfers as the MGM DVD and contains the extra footage that all Anchor Bay´s prints are MISSING a short 2 second shot: After Sheila is first captured and presented to Evil Ash, he rips Sheila's dress down to her waist. Explaining the next shot of looking her up and down. The following shot of the nude slave girls is also much clearer. The R3 HAS this shot (perviously shown only on the Japanese "Captain Supermarket" Laserdisc). The bodice ripping scene was actually an idea of a producer Dino DeLaurentis, and Raimi cut it from his "director approved" versions. Also notice that the Anchor Bay versions look cropped on all four sides in some scenes and even zoomed in others."

Eurotrip isn't the kind of movie that's going to get by with artistic underage nudity. Just think of the context of the scene, she's flashing someone to get a car to pick them up. The same year The Guy Game came out on PS2 and there was a huge (for a shovelware title) controversy since one of the drunk sluts they got to flash her tits had a fake ID and was only 17 years, 364 days old.

The law in the USA was different from the law in Europe at the time. Topless was fine without permission from parents in the UK after your 16th birthday; there was a big thing in the Daily Sport with countdown to Lindsey Dawn-MacKenzie's 16th birthday, the day after which the Sport were to publish photos of her with her nice fat baps out (google her if you like British slags, you won't regret it). Kiera Knightly did topless stuff in "the Hole" ostensibly before her 16th birthday, although this has never been legally challenged, so its thought she is a year or two older than her "stage age". Thora Birch was underage when she was topless in American Beauty, but those aren't actually her boobs, they're her mother's (look up some of her mum's porn films, if you don't believe it) and clever placement of where the window sash is.

So there are ways and means around nudity of people under 18, usually its that they just lied about their age and they're a year or 2 older than they claim, like Trachtenberg who was really 20/21 when they filmed Euro Trip. They got the actual topless scene on a re-shoot a few moths after the deleted scene, so she was defiantly old enough. She regretted doing it after asked for it to be pulled, as she was allowed to in her contract, when it came to light some territories had shown it then she was actually paid compensation. Thats a fact, so what do you think they were paying her compensation for? Stubbing her toe or something? Every time someone posts this some Yankee-doodle-dandy who simps over the idea that she was some sort of a-sexual pure virgin comes up to try to defend her honour, but facts are facts, google hard enough and you can still find footage online, and she was legal or they would have used stunt boobs like they did with Thora Birch.
