I don't like families. The whole thing is kind of gay. I agree with Plato that children should not be raised by their parents to avoid nepotism.

I can't bring myself to write reviews on letterboxd. If I don't have anything interesting or original to say, I just think what's the point, someone else has already said this. If I do, I think; these zoomer retards don't deserve it, I should either make a video essay or just keep my revelations to myself.

> Hitchcock, was lent to producer Walter Wanger. The deal with Wanger was concluded on October 2, 1939, establishing Hitchcock as the director of Vincent Sheean’s memoir Personal History, a property that had been under development since 1935. Considering the book dated and unsuited to his particular strengths as a storyteller, Hitchcock, in collaboration with his wife, Alma Reville, and his secretary, Joan Harrison, devised an entirely new plotline which carried Sheean’s title from the book and little else. Eventually, the title, too, would be dropped
>at Hitchcock’s behest, a total of twenty-two writers had contributed to the script, including John Howard Lawson, Budd Schulberg, John Meehan, James Hilton, Ben Hecht, and Robert Benchley

the plane crash was based on this scene from The Lottery Bride, at 1:09:00
https://youtu.be/YfEXANbNqPI&t=4142
>>
>>223109395
>The crash, much more elaborate in design and execution than its 1930 predecessor, formed the basis for the climax of the picture. And unlike the dirigible crash in Lottery Bride, which took place in frozen environs of the Arctic Circle, the downing of the clipper in Foreign Correspondent takes place over the ocean. “The whole thing was done in a single shot without a cut!” marveled Hitchcock in his marathon 1962 interview with François Truffaut. “I had a transparency screen made of paper, and behind that screen, a water tank. The plane dived, and as soon as the water got close to it, I pressed the button and the water burst through, tearing the screen away. The volume was so great that you never saw the screen.” The teaming of Alfred Hitchcock and William Cameron Menzies proved an inspired melding of two vastly different artistic sensibilities, Hitchcock being interested in the conveyance of visual information, Menzies in the deepening of the film’s graphic impact. Together, they produced one of the grand thrillers of the sound era. When production closed on May 29, 1940, after sixty-five days of shooting and eleven days of retakes, the negative cost of Foreign Correspondent stood at $1,484,167—by far the most expensive picture Hitchcock had ever made.

Look for a director you like and dig into his filmography. Check out his influences. No point in getting into film if it's not something you genuinely like.

Could have used a bit of humor aside from the Nicole Kidman pissing scene.
>>
>>223118108

There's plenty of humor throughout. During the big argument, Kidman does a silly high-pitched voice once or twice while talking about her goods. Bill going to a costume shop is just a stupid comedy sketch in itself: hey let me into your shop it's an emergency I promise to not get any cumstains on your costume. When the owner finds the disgusting asian guys cowering behind the couch they just run out in a silly way and then... nothing really happens after that, there's no real consequences. When the roommate tells Bill that the whore had HIV, it's played very quiet and serious, but inside Bill is like I know statistically that I had very low odds of infection in any event, but still whew, dodged a bullet on that one, okay thanks skank lady have a nice day, good news I didn't do the deed with that one. The old hag whose father just died is clearly a New York socialite type and she HATES the idea that she'll go to the fucking midwest now with some beta, which is why she throws herself at Bill in the absurd way. The final spoken word and the closing music also have some humor, oh let's just have angry make-up sex and forget who's really in charge and not worry too much about where our daughter is.

He is practically blacklisted in Hollywood now. Also his IMAX parkour documentary might never see the light of day cause one of the people in the parkour crew rhe doc is about turned out to be a nonce. It's kinda stupid to shelve the movie because of this tho, there are other members the doc covers, it's not like it was about the pedo specifically.

Yes, at times, albeit in ways and details that get missed. Dr. Strangelove and Clockwork Orange are both primarily dark comedies. In addition to being an asshole, he had two legitimate reasons to force actors to do take after take. 1) generate more material to work with. 2) watch them start to loosen up after take 4, 10, 20, and start to be a bit more silly or goofy. Even if that's not the take used he had the stuff available.

Although it's his worst "real" film, Lolita contains one very funny scene, where Humbert is lounging in the bath and the neighbors come to console him over the extremely annoying hag Shelley Duvall having been conveniently hit by a truck or whatever, thus completely clearing Humbert's path to access sweet sweet. Humbert must suppress a shitty grin since he will abscond with the girl.

My favorite recent family film is Chicken for Linda. All time is probably Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. I don’t watch many family films anymore. That’s cute. I want my eventual daughter to be viewed as a princess by everyone as well. If my first born is a son, I will cry and most likely be a somewhat distant father. That’s how my father raised me and it made me who I am. I appreciate what he did for me.

One time, I met a young girl at a Waffle House who was living in a car with her drug and alcohol addicted father. She was melancholic, embarrassed and looking for someone else to take care of her. I considered it, but then realized I’m in no better position financially than her father was. I went home and cried.

>Lee: Pimpin'. Listen. Girls used to come to see me, right. Whores, prostitutes, call girls. I didn't have to make love to them. They wanted me to take them out. All I would do is say: "I don't have any money, if you want me to take you out." So they gave me a couple hundred dollars... a night.

Why any Wizard of Oz movie ever dare to adapt the Dorothy/Ozma relationship? Seriously, I can't believe that Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz has been basically married to a woman since 1907 and nobody even mentions it. The Hollywood fags even made up the term "Friends of Dorothy" to identify themselves coincidently due to Judy Garland movie without knowing that Dorothy herself was a "A Friend of Dorothy".

>It’s worse than Kubrick with A Clockwork Orange (1971), a film that I hate just as much, not for cinematic reasons but for moral ones. I remember when it came out, Jacques Demy was so shocked that it made him cry. Kubrick is a machine, a mutant, a Martian. He has no human feeling whatsoever. But it’s great when the machine films other machines, as in 2001.
