Portraying blacks as le heckin wholesome conservative ruralite patriots is a million times worse than just accurately portraying them as spiteful hateful anti-White freaks. Despite Lindelof's Lanterns being objectively anti-White and woke, it is less harmful as media than something like this because it never lets you forget for a second that blacks hate you. Great show. Weakest part was the finale, but the earlier monster of the week style episodes are great, and the core 3 cast members all pulled their weight. It's easy for a horror/comedy to swing too far one way but it walked the line. Haunted hotel, sea hag, and the Boogeyman episode are the highlights. The Boogeyman in particular was great because, despite being an obvious parody of Michael Meyers, they treated him as a genuinely scary slasher villain up until they switched to farce for the second half of the episode, and both halves worked.

The answer to all of those is literally "because he's Michael Meyers." It was a parody episode dude. The whole second half was just Halloween bits. The ongoing bit where Patricia's constantly looking behind her to see him in the distance slowly trundling his way after her. The dramatic Undertaker-style sit ups after each time he's killed. The whole montage at the end of her pointing a shotgun at his corpse's head until he's literally cremated to make sure he doesn't do it again.

Like if you want an in-universe explanation it's the same as everything else, which is that the island's an evil demon-thing where horror tropes happen and the Boogeyman's been haunting Patricia her whole life, but the real reason is because they wanted to do a Halloween homage episode and they nailed it.

I know what you're trying to say. You're saying it's like Edgar Wright because his most famous movies blend horror tropes with comedy. But that's not his 'style'. He didn't invent horror comedies and stylistically Widow's Bay is nothing like an Edgar Wright movie. It's probably because you haven't seen very many movies or shows at all.
Widow's Bay is closer to The Police Squad (1982) because the gags are smartly written and the protagonist is the comedic foil.
