It was an absolute knightmare because he had to match a hand drawn animation to the beats of the song all before they had computers that could do all the hard work for you. Hope you appreciate the effort that went in for a little sight gag and the fact that he damn near went insane listening to that song every day on repeat for months.
I loved this movie as a kid but it fucks me up now that my parents are dead. I watched it again with my kids and I'm grateful they fell asleep early. It's actually heavy shit, the scene with his mom, chasing the shadow, that damned music.
