They have a 15 years gap. Obviously, biologically possible, but I doubt that's what the writers meant to convey.
>>
>>223175277
>I was shocked that they had the Manhunter say he took the form of an Indian woman because it's easier to infiltrate and subvert a culture as a minority.
No one said it was easier, but it helps the Manhunter infiltrate more effectively to start as a minority.

What is wild is that they tried to frame the minority experience as an opportunity for those with the strength to over come it. I'm sure people are already working on their outrage videos.
>>
This episode had me a bit confused, it's a decent ending to the 2016 timeline, but felt kinda quick and without much. Feels like Macon and Aatran were designed to be either red hearings of Black and Red Lanterns respectively, but they are gone. The black stuff is still unexplained and idk if they will touch it in the next episodes.
John and Hal definitely are terrible GL tho, they fucking Coast City'd Rushville all on their own. Wonder how they get into John getting a ring again if it's not Hal's

Ngl previous one was my favorite with this being probably lower than this one.
>>
>>223175259
I get that but you think John would at least go through the motions a be a lantern for a week before throwing in the towel.
Also
>Crying over killing a jeet android you banged twice and had no emotional connection to
Ok...
>>
I'm just going to stop there.
Hal Jordan dies under a pile of rubble. It was his hologram that froze to death on the bleachers.
John Stewart gives the ring back to the guardians.
What a great show 10/10
>>
>>223175339
>Ngl previous one was my favorite with this being probably lower than this one.

This, so far ep 4 was the best (not saying much, but still). Episode 5 felt....underwhelming. Literally no ring stuff that wasn't already in the trailer. No townies fighting aliens. No Hal actually seen wasting his ring energy trying to minimize collateral damage accept for one lazy action. Just felt hollow.

I think it's only underwhelming because of the fans hyping it claiming all the of the budget was going in to this episode and dumbass fan theories about red lanterns showing up.

kinda similar to peacemaker s2 ending honestly, but at least this isn't the end but i does feel like the big action scenes are over

5 episodes in 3 episodes left

I'm not going to defend it anymore. I'm not giving it the benefit of the doubt anymore. At this point its too late to peel back the curtain and show more. They had a big battle and the alien never even revealed their true form and Hal Jordan just stumbled around like a dementia Grandpa. It's obvious that this show has absolutely ZERO budget and the writers actively do dislike Hal Jordan.

This isn't like Peacemaker season 1 where it was basically about jewish parasites taking over the world and it went over peoples heads.
>>
>>223175679
The problem is GL will never be a cheap property. It's very CGI heavy. And if most of the money goes to the writing, then the constructs will suffer.

I'd recommend abandoning live action going forward. GL feels like it can only thrive in animation.
>>
Well the Spanish subtitles spoiled that that was a clone of Hal in the rubble, so you can stop crying about that. This happened with Liana too.
>>
>green lanterns are just a evil cult

I just want to see cool green shit go against evil yellow shit
>>
>>223175703
I said kibble. It's not overtly one way or the other, which I think is fair. That's what life is like, if you are going to do political messages in your show that should be the model. TV and movies should be for everyone.
>>

>>
>>223175847
does it really matter if that was the hal-o-gram or not? either way john stewart took the ring and now guy gardner has it
>>
>>223175781
AI can't make GL constructs that look cool.
Prove me wrong.
You can't.
>>
>>223175847
What would a clone of Hal in this scene be used for? Its not like he died here, the sheriff obviously went back and saved him from the rubble and everyone knew/thought he was still alive up until 2026
>>
>>223175891
It at least means Hal has a plan and didn't simply just get his ass beat and lose.
>>
>>223175776
fucking christ, I think they blew their load on the night vision POV. That was all CGI. I bet they thought they could use it to save money too.
>>
weren't these other aliens supposed to have neutrino bombs or some other gobblygook bullshit in their heads?
supposedly able to level an entire town?
they didn't even look as impressive as a 2000lb pound bomb in a video game
>>
>>223175891
Guy Gardner has A ring. You don't know it's the same for the three characters.
In comics, each has their own ring plus Kyle's. Why does this sector need some many Green Lanterns, btw?
>>
>>223175935
>weren't these other aliens supposed to have neutrino bombs or some other gobblygook bullshit in their heads?
>supposedly able to level an entire town?
It was either a bluff, or the writers just wanted to sound fancy without actually understanding what they were stating.
>>
>>223175781
AI is only as good as what it's coded for. Both animation and CGI will benefit greatly from it eventually but no one is training it on that.
You can use instances to set up and render the establishing shot and then use AI to fill in the gaps but it's not coded for it yet. Everything you want AI to do needs to be trained to do framegen, which is already happening in vidya so maybe they can use that.
But you still need the storyboards and establishing shots or it will look like bullshit.

>>223175851
Can't explain why but ok
>>
>>223175942
No. It's THE ring. It was Hal's, John took it, John refused it, and then it went to Guy. That's why Hal isn't wearing it in modern time. That's why Guy had it during Superman 2025.
>>
>>223175987
Evidence of this?
>>
>>223173986
What in the fuck did I just watch?

>Hal betrayed his code, his oath, his honor just to keep this ring.
FUCKING. WHEN?

>Oooooh the scary, scary Manhunters geared throughout the cosmos for their deadliness and brutali-
Oh. Guess the rest of the cosmos never invented guns. Fucking WHAT?
>>
>>223176005
NTA, but when John was taken to the body, the first thing he did was look for the ring on Hal's hand.
>>
Well at the very least, I think the hal-o-gram is going to play a role in the 2026 timeline. When he activated it during this episode, he cut off a piece of his ring so maybe the construct became independent of his power ring and has been doing something since 2016
>>
>>223175572
>actively do dislike Hal Jordan
No, they just have to make everyone incompetent to make the BBC Mary Sue shine. DCEU 2.0 is dead after the next Superman underperforms
>>
>>223174513
Fucking A.
>>
This is among the most frustrating things I have ever watched. Why do they keep forgetting what Green Lantern's power is?

>Oh jeez, Hal. You're being brought before a small town judge
So? The Green Lantern Corps outranks every Earthly agency by virtue of omnipotence. What are they going to do, fine you?
>Oh jeez, Hal. There are snipers.
Oh really? That's cool. Why don't you put a big green bubble around yourself. Or create a bunch of green tentacles and tie them up. Or make a bunch of green hands and take their guns simultaneously. Or make a bunch of green foots and kick them in the dick
>Oh no, big cloud of smoke
Oh really? How about you fly over it? How about you make a 100 foot tall green vacuum cleaner and suck it up?

What the fuck is wrong with David Lindelof? Did he have a stroke?
>>
>>223176022
Doesn't prove it's the only ring. Hell, that's probably not the real Hal Jordan in that scene.
>>
>>223175987
They will need to say something soon to clear up why the ring Guy uses in Superman is physically a very different ring than Hal's. You can just retcon it in your own head but its still kind of stupid to not address it in some way

They have nerfed green lantern abilities for the plot. If they made the ring do the things you expect it to do from the comics and even the cartoons (shit like controlling the ring from a distance, having more power battery) then half the plot wouldn't work
>>
>>223176017

>"Hal was addicted to the power of the ring"
>"Hal was possessive of the ring"

This might sound like a dumb question but did the writers watch their own show?

>john pulls a rifle off a gun store's wall

fascinating stuff really good writing
are the rings incapable of holding any sort of meaningful charge in the comics as well?
it seems like this thing ran out after about 4 constructs total.
why didn't hal fly into space and destroy the satellites? it's not like they're hard to find, they're in fucking space straight above them.
>>
>>223176107
>character says thing
>viewers take them exactly at their word
Never fails. I mean, this was the last episode after all, it's not like they'll have more opportunities to reveal other things and intentions.
>>
>>223176046
A show like this doesn't work for the premise. Green Lanterns are not street level criminals, they deal with cosmic level threats. Hal is literally invincible. A Green Lantern can fight Superman one on one. Even Hal standing in front of a judge is just as ridiculous here as it was in BvS.
>>
>>223176148
>are the rings incapable of holding any sort of meaningful charge in the comics as well?
Ring charge is and always will be the writer's tool to create drama and tension. The charge becomes relevant when the writer's need it to be, for the plot.
>why didn't hal fly into space and destroy the satellites? it's not like they're hard to find, they're in fucking space straight above them.
They showed him bring down one, but it seems like there were many satellites.
>>
So Hal is genuinely a piece of shit, I thought we was pretending as a part of the training
>>
>>223176153

>A Green Lantern can fight Superman one on one.

Not successfully, Superman could theoretically challenge the entire corps on his own.
>>

Too many plot contrivances, even though I enjoy where they ended up story wise. If this wasn't an 8 episode miniseries like everything else nowadays and was able to be a REAL TV show, I would like it more
>>
>>223176165
You think Green Lantern or Superman obeying Earth authorities is because they fear punishment? This isn't a movies thing either, it's happened plenty in comics as well.
>>
>>223176198
He didn't try to kill John because of the ring. He killed John because he lied about the Manhunter, and may have been compromised by it.

but does it actually matter how many there are? they're all in the same place, it's not like the manhunter put ICBM sites in every fucking corner of the globe that hal has to find
you just fly up and start smashing the satellites with the red laser death beams
>>
>>223176201
Absolutely not. Green Lanterns can definitely beat Superman. Martian Manhunter would be a better match for them.
>>
>>223176237

>>
>>223176046
hal did that to investigate shit

his ring was out of power (this is dumb in general but is the budget constraint they chose. he could fly to another galaxy with his ring but dealing with some militia dickheads shouldnt drain his ring)

gl powers are made of light, light doesn't work in smoke
>>
>>223176237
Anon, have you got any idea how much space trash we've put up there? It's baffling.
>>
>>223176243
>>223176201
Green Lanterns can absolutely defeat base Superman. Martian Manhunter is the only challenge, as anon pointed out. In an actual cohesive DC Universe, GLs would be top of the food chain with only New Gods above them. But then again debating DC power levels at some point becomes like arguing why a banana taped to a wall is a work of art.
>>
>>223176251
space IS big, but it's a satellite firing a linear beam. the beam isn't curving. it's coming straight down.
this makes it a lot easier because, most likely, there aren't going to be any satellites in that particular region of space at that moment that aren't the super mega death satellites
>>

>>
>>223176277
There's an easy rule for any comics fight: You check the name on the cover, and that's the character who wins.
>>
>>223176212
It isn’t even about fearing punishment; it’s mainly about undermining the government. Guys like Hal and Supes have to rein themselves in because the government can’t. But here’s the thing - they can’t rein in hundreds of millions of citizens either if they just decide that the law just doesn’t apply anymore.
>>
>>223176260
HE WAS FUCKING BULLSHITTING THOSE REDDIT FAGGOTS OH MY GOD
>>
>>223175314
& it isn’t anything to do with parrallax infecting him either. He just really seems to not want to give up the ring to John or do what the guardians want.
>>
>>223176277
>Green Lanterns can absolutely defeat base Superman.
How many Green Lanterns? Also I don't think MM would be effective against GLs because their willpower should override his physic powers.
>>
>>223176097
The problem is they wanted to make a cop drama like True Detective, but for some reason they put Green Lantern in it.

But they didn't really nerf it all that much. He made a giant drill, he can presumably make a vacuum. The trouble with nerfing his powers is that it breaks the whole mythology. If Green Lanterns can easily be taken out by rudimentary modern firearms, then why are there Green Lanterns in the first place? How exactly are they protecting the galaxy?

And to be fair, Green Lantern is one of the most contrived comic book characters because the powerset is hugely OP. But if you're going to do a story like this, you have to be creative about creating challenges. You can't just have characters regularly forget their godlike powers of creation sometimes and then use them other times.

The story isn't even all that bad, it just gets frustrating when it refuses to play by it's own rules. They probably would have been better served to give John a reason to be weak to human-level threats and have Hal cutting through opponents like butter. Just create circumstances where one of the two protagonists has to go in bareback
>>
>>223176204
>>223176201
A Green Lantern ring can create kryptonite
>>223176212
Not the same thing as this show. It's dumb because an Alabama judge not believing Hal Jordon is. Usually they go in front of politicians and juries because they're crossing lines into being rulers. At least BvS assumed that Superman wasn't fully established, but Hal is a nationally known Lantern in this show
>>
>>223176342
>how many
Just one
>physic
Anon, martian manhunter is physically as strong as Superman
>>
The show is telling us to dislike/distrust Hal but he’s been nothing but competent and cunning throughout the entire thing. My friends and I were confused at John’s words at the end on how Hal betrayed everything he stood for and what not. Like what the fuck is he talking about because Hal did nothing wrong except be a dick to John. And John even understood Hal’s feelings because he saw upfront how the guardians are conniving douchebags. From the looks of it Hal was going to kill the manhunter on his own if John didn’t stop him to just take the kill himself? The show is really shitty at articulating.
>>
>>223176282
i wrote linear but more specifically they're not coming in at any angle other than 90 degrees, so you just Go Up and there they are
>>223176198
did we watch the same show? hal left john stuck in the crash because john was compromised by both the manhunter AND his own lust for the ring. he wasn't reliable.
john even says he's not sure if hal meant to leave him in a car that was going to catch on fire, it's quite possible hal didn't expect the car to decide it was time to combust right when pajeeta showed up.
>>
>>223176342
I think prime Hal can take him out. It'd be close but he'd have the edge, but he'd be at the dead end of his battery life by the end. I think MM can hold his own against GLs, evidenced in a few comic moments, but again: it's like arguing with the wall. Shit changes so much and so fundamentally each and every time it's maddening.
>>
>>223176165

Batman is the only one of the Justice League big shots who flagrantly breaks the law. Everybody else tries their best to respect and not be above it in the comics.

>>223176309
That’s a bit of a stretch. That’s disobeying a command/being insubordinate. They’re making it sound like he betrayed everything he supposedly believes in. Also, the Guardians in the comics can quite literally teleport Lanterns to Oa, strip them of rank and ring, and bestow it upon whoever they see fit. This shit they’re doing in the show makes very little sense.
>>
>>223176418
They do this all the fucking time. Someone asks an actor if a character can be gay, the actor says "Sure, why not?" to avoid a shitstorm and then headlines like this get circulated.

Why the fuck did the aliens kamikaze themselves instead of just throwing bombs or some shit. This show is so stupid
>>
>>223176309
Just because this show declares something doesn't mean it makes sense. This kind of moralfagging is also nonsensical both in the context of just this series with all the deceit and betrayal and in the history of GL because the Guardians are comically evil and inept at this point.
>>
I didn't know GLs we're also weak to black farts. They should have made it yellow.
>>
>>223176348
It's not even exclusive to Lanterns. Supergirl had this problem too. Generally when a yellow sun powered Kryptonian shows up, plot becomes optional. There's no number of goons who can zergrush them without kryptonite. But Kara seems, like, slightly stronger than a regular human and not especially fast, either.

It's 100% a Weaponer working with Sinestro. It explains absolutely everything. The Manhunter didn't get all those weapons from just making them. Zoe got those weapons from, guess who, the WEAPONERS.

They have to be. I believe he says he doesn't talk to them much anymore and that only John does or thinks he does.

>>
>>223176456

I'm just saying what was literally said in the show

Hal straight up says "I did break a vow" to John. Argue all you want about how dumb it is, but it's internally consistent.

Like I feel that the big thing with Hal being treated like such shit by the Guardians is that they are afraid of him since he was Sinestro's mentee and the fact that they just don't understand humans or why Hal is such a wildcard. Like I imagine Hal was more by the books and followed orders before the Sinestro betrayal going by the Hal-o-gram, but they think he's spiralling out, but can't strip him of the ring due to the ring choosing him so they've activated the backup failsafe plan they had in John.

I get people may not like the show, but to claim it doesn't make sense or contradicting itself is disingenuous
>>
The twist is that the clone Hal is a Weaponer.
>>
>>223176522
Plenty of villains have tech that fucks over GL rings, and not all of them rely on yellow.
>>
When Hal activated the old backup of himself the backup's leather jacket should have been the same jacket Halo is waring only brand new.

So what? Now they'll say Hal just moped around for a decade without the ring and died a sad sack because he was presumably lured back to rushville by greed? He literally did nothing wrong by fucking over John over the last two episodes.

This is the only redeeming plot twist this show can have. Why would immortal and omnipotent gods play human drama games like this to begin with. The mature thing would be to talk to Hal. Why not give John his own ring and let Hal train him instead of risking one of them dying in the field? Sadly, the writing in this show is way too shitty and has no self awareness for a plot twist like this

they really tried to paint it that way through his speech. But it came off as more of John projecting and being butthurt. Since episode one on, he has a chip on his shoulder about being better than Hal, yet fucks up and screws up a lot. The entire point of this flashback story is that he was targeting precisely because he was a young dumb full of cum retard that the manhunter knew could be easily manipulated. And yet Hal ends up being his better around ever turn.

I knew it would be bad but... wow.

My impression is that the writers are just throwing concepts to the wall to see what people end talking about, nothing makes any sense.

>The guardians want to replace Hal
Like anons said, it's an weaponer, it's literally dressed like one, but still... why does they need John to do it? Just punch Hal while he is distracted or drunk. What I don't get is why Hal... just didn't ask the guardians about... anything?

>Hal crashing the car instead of just flying John to somewhere far he would take days to get back
Why?

>Johh is just this weird guy who was raised to be obsessed with being a GL instead of you know just a normal guy.
Why? It just made him and his family so fucking weird, not in an interesting way, just weird.

>The Manhunter is just... some t coded character who can easily get shot down by anyone and who was also a slut who was into John
Why? Hal even literally the manhunter will never be a woman

>Hal betrayed shit and was obsessed with the ring
I get John was probably lied and Hal talking about visiting Sinestro played into his confirmation bias... but still the whole superhero plot went to hell with how little shit both Hal and John seems to give about anyone else.

>The idea of action for this show is for everyone to blow up

>>223176747
It's such an obvious twist you retard, "the guardian" literally talks like a manipulative super villain.
>>

Weird choice to try to and make it a sympathetic or hard choice to kill the genocidal war criminal that was indiscriminately blowing up random people an attempt to kill Hal. Because it never cared about anyone and acted in self preservation. Something that is hammered home time and time again. Even weirder that he was acting emotional and wavering about cutting the heart out.
>abloobloobloo it said it wasn't their fault the guardians programmed them that why

He can resign ahead of time and also use that to boost MoT by calling it an epic ending or crossover or event or some shit. Even if MoT manages about 100-200m than Superman, say at 700-800m, the universe is still being rebooted. Even if Gunn hit home runs every time, he'd still be fired because the whole point of taking over a studio with legacy IP is to reboot them and profit from your own reboots, not what came before.

I'm pretty sure the point of this takeover is for Israel to own CNN

Yes, they also said ep7 is a hal jordan backstory episode and ep6 and 8 are total underwhelming dogshit and they just rush through the whole "mystery" (which is just Weaponer pretending to be Guardian working with Sinestro to make the yellow ring) and it's mostly left for s2 to expand

I said last thread John was gonna walk away from being a Green Lantern and I was right ;)

Not a bad episode but I'm still wondering what the hell are they gonna do for the remainder of the season

Don't believe their lies

They’ve wrapped up everything except the fake guardian reveal
>>
The first 2 episodes were kinda good but then they introduced an unnecessarily convoluted backstory for John in episode 3 that rippled into the following episodes and now I don’t know what to think anymore.

The people making the show have no imagination, so the only constructs you'll get are lasers and bubbles.

Apparently e6 is a total nothingburger and both John and Hal faked Hal's death to fool the Weaponer (Liana) who pretended to be a Guardian and also was the one who saved the Manhunter, not Abin Sur. And that's literally it. That's the big mystery. They kill the Weaponer and the end. Total fucking waste of time.
