That's what you retards get for using streaming services and turning your backs on television. Don't call it a grave!

they literally cant do it. Its one giant show of nothing

whats the explanation for why it takes them 3 years to make 10 episodes for any show now when back in the day every network was pumping out 20 episodes for multiple series every year??

It's amazing how much Breaking Bad surreptitiously espoused white "supremecy"

>20 episodes over a 3 year period
they used to do more in a single season, and then accomplish the same amount the very next year
>>

>2027-2028
Won't Rhea be like 60 years old? I'm not watching granny lesbians go at it.
>>
The show was sold as a two season order in 2022, but had been developed from the year before. It took three years to produce nine episodes. And now its another two years for another eight episodes.

Six years to fulfill a contract for 17 episodes.

Star Trek: The Next Generation produced 178 episodes and a movie in that time span.
>>
>>223176992
They realised they could just write less episodes and pocket the rest of the money.
>>
>>223175651
how did Vince write 100 X-Files episodes a year in the 90s and now he can't write 8 episodes of a middle aged lesbian scowling and doing nothing? Half the runtime is those long sequences of people doing dumb shit like stacking boxes or cleaning toilets. NOT bravo Vince.
>>
>>223178900

Why the fuck are all these series 10 to 12 episodes now? Seasons used to be 22 episodes and they were still 45 minutes long, even effects heavy sci-fi shows.
>>
>>223176947
I think it's time we have a discussion about these once talented people turning to shit.

Gilligan, Scorsese, Cameron, Spielberg, Nolan, the list goes on. They create absolute kino, then produce garbage in their old age.
>>
>>223179918
Inflated budgets and refusing to film on sets. It may not be effects heavy but I'm sure Vince insisted they go to the Mexican jungle and film for real.
>>
They should go ahead and just cancel this and Severance as well. I'm tired of the drastic change in age of characters from season to season. Makes binge (re)watching jarring. There's only 6 years across 121 episodes of LOST and it's gradual. Even then there is time jumps to explain certain things. Almost 5 years and we're at season 2 of Severance. Not that the story really has anywhere to go.

We need to go back to 20 - 45 minute episode seasons, 1 season a year. It lets stories breathe and they pack a punch on the big ones.
>>
>>223177478
Yeah and there's still filler episodes and the main story going nowhere with production errors, so the extra
time isnt for polishing the product.
>>
>>223175651
>plot that fits on a napkin padded with ultralong filler shots

>>223179966
I remember reading the first few books of the Dark Tower series as a kid, decades later I caught up with Kings later entries to the series and you can just see the quality and edge dissappear as he aged,, from one book to the next,, that magic that made his slop palatable gone , same for any man in his later years, their best work is in the past.
>>

You know I really do think he has the hots for her. The feet thing was already suspect. Then giving her her own show? Totally smitten.
>>
>>223176947
The Paraguayan dude telling off the plurbs for being thieves and invaders was one I liked. Carol pissing off the delusional pajeeta was pretty good too.
>>
>>223180266
I keep telling myself it isn't the age, but the success. I'm 38 and I've been working on several projects that I'd say are the best I've ever done, and others have agreed. I know 38 isn't old, but I think when you have to prove yourself you try harder. You want things to be perfect. When you become successful and make it big, you start thinking your decisions are always right. You get less push back, and you let imperfections slide. I also think you lose a bit of that creativity drive had before. There's more obligation and business in mind than pure creativity.

I probably won't make it big, but I'll see how creative I am when I'm in my 50s and 60s. Hopefully I won't be blinded by my own ego.
>>
>>223180364
41 here and this feels about right. You get locked in autopilot mode and that makes you less adaptable to changes over time, which diminishes your quality of output.
>>
>>223180364
Hope so bro , but as someone who works with his hands, I think part of it is muscle memory , your brain is wired as you get older to follow certain patterns and as media and styles change, you dont and it's hard to find the passion to even want to change creatively, especially since people will still pay you for a rehashed version of your older stuff and get mad when you try something new.
>>
>>223176947
>NOOOOOOOOO YOU CANT JUST LIKE THE SERIES AS A WHOLE HOW WILL VISHNU CLIP FARM ON YOUTUBE WITHOUT COOL REDDIT SCENES BLOODY BENCHOD FAK
>>
>>223180519
I think it makes sense as to why Hollywood has turned to shit. You don't have that competition. They keep rehashing the same once popular guys. We had so many movies back in the day, and they took chances on nobodies. When he knocked it out of the park, they gave him a bigger budget and more opportunities. That cream floated to the top. Now? Now it's "give that guy that was great 20 years ago a bajillion dollars" when he has no obligation to prove himself anymore.

That's why you're seeing a youtuber like Curry getting offers now. His case is essentially what they did years ago. Take a chance on someone unknown, if they do good, they get bigger offers.

Stagnation is the death of Hollywood. Or any creative field, to be honest.
>>
>>223179918
Every show (and everyTHING) nowadays costs 8 billion trillion quadrillion dollars to make, so they've gotta keep it restricted to a safe number of episodes
>>
>>223179966
I was about to tell you that everyone turns to shit eventually, but it seems to happen only to certain people. Stanley Kubrick never went bad, Akira Kurosawa never went bad, I really admire Martin Scorsese for actually evolving and constantly trying new genres of film and experimenting with different aesthetics and themes, and he's always been hit or miss as far as I'm concerned.

So yes, it really happens to certain people, doesn't it?

John Carpenter and Dario Argento are two horror filmmakers who seem to have completely forgotten how to make a film to begin with. Their late-90s and after material seriously reminds me of something a not-particularly-talented film student would come up with
>>
>>223178459
It would probably be less ugly to behold than half the ugly crap that comes from the west these days.
>>
>>223180738
I think it really is dependent on the person. Kubrick is a great example. That's a guy that was super passionate. I think he enjoyed every minute of it. If you're lazy or after the paycheck you wouldn't be doing 100+ takes. Makes me believe a lot of them have reached the peak so the climb is no longer fun. They just take the check, and let the sherpas carry them up it. Or they have other agendas (Cameron).

Carpenter is another good example I want to highlight. The Thing is my favorite horror movie, and yet people hated it back in the day. I wonder how something like that affects you. You could make your best work, everyone convinces you it sucks, when in reality it didn't.
>>
>>223175880
NO way that's happening, it's still a very cool premise even if it's slow af

Because the industry is slowly dying and has been since xfiles was filming. You just didn't notice it at the time. The more intuitional knowledge that is lost the more shit gets fucked up and the more expensive everything becomes. The more expensive things become the more conservative you have to be with your decisions. This slows everything down and the slower things more the more opportunity there is for second guessing and meddling that incurs further costs and in kind slows shit down even more. All with a dwindling potential staff of competent workers who are all being pulled in different directions by different potential projects.
>>
>>223181778
NTA but I agree completely. Never have I said Titanic should have been an hour shorter. In fact, I'm curious what the 4 hour version with all the cut side characters would be like.

>>223181445
15 years ago, when Breaking Bad was still airing, they were putting out 13 episodes every year, and that was considered little at the time.
>>
>>223180853
I actually feel really bad that James Cameron has declined, because he had a couple projects that I remember reading about that I was really anticipating...he wanted to make a film about a man who sirvived BOTH Hiroshima and Nagasaki in '45 and one about a woman who ends up tangled in some sort of a drug cartel mix-up in Northern Africa....the first one sounded great and the second sounded like something more serious than his usual action and sci-fi endevours, so I was really excited about them

....and then he made Avatar 2

About John Carpenter, the weird thing with him is that his later films are downright incompetent. when I watched Ghosts of Mars I couldn't believe it, it just seems like a big bidget student film...the structure is terrible, there are some seriously baffling and amateurish technical choices...if I didn't know who JC was and you showed me Ghosts of Mars I would think he was someone on the level of Uwe Boll

Dario Argento has gotten even worse. Try watching his 2012 Dracula film. I've seen middle school projects with better production value.
>>
>>223176992
Unions forced studios hands so now they get paid more to do less work and thus we get new seasons every 2-3 years which ages every character like crazy and leaves audiences completely lost.
Enjoy, everything will get slower, lower quality and more expensive. AI is the only thing that will save us unironically because it will force these hacks to work more or lose their slop work to the AI datacenter

I think as a reaction to Netflix cancelling everything after season 2, creatives started insisting on multi-season greenlights.
so even if your show sucks the network has to commit to it long-term.
>>
>>223178459
only 90 year old women can act now
>>
>>223181934
It's not really dying though
If the studios were allowed to go bust, if the unions shut down, etc, etc, it'd revive pretty fast
As it stands much of the loss is filming going to different locations, so the industry is *trying* to escape its parasites... eventually something will succeed
