Why do they have to enter a password before starting to play? Mendel would have known who won, so the money could be transferred either way.
Also, when Le Chiffre is torturing Bond for the password he says he also needs the account number from Vesper. Why? What for? It the money can be send to any account in the world, as Mendel says, why does he need it?
Later, when Bond is in the Sanatorium, Mendel shows up to transfer the funds. Vesper enters an account (it is unclear what account exactly but it has to also be her account at the Basel Bank because in Venice she withdraws the money from there) and Bond enters the password.
In Venice then she withdraws the 120M in cash (sure...) and is about to give it to Mettler when Bond finds out. Seems also weird that a sophisticated terrorist network wouldn't have a shell company to get the money directly from Vesper/Mendel when she entered the account number in the first place or just shortly after directly from her account.

The worst thing about casino royal is there isnt a scene where lechiffre cries blood during the game and bond correctly calls this a fake tell to beat him in poker.

it's because the kidnapping part happened in the book and is kind of important to the plot but they needed some way to modernize it so they took the retard route.

That and just the time difference.
In 1954 or whenever casino royale was written going to venice and transferring millions into a swiss bank account with a password was the equivalent of hacking the mainframe of all the banks in the world simultaneously or some shit.

I think I got it. Think of the "account number" as kind of a login name to login into the account at Mendel's bank with the password being the authorization key to confirm a transfer.
Still unclear tho what account specifically Vesper enters having full control of it and appearantly not being a treasury account because they never get the money back.
