What went wrong?
I am snot so sure
Company changes 100 percent of its creatives and niggercattle still thinks it's the same company. Many such cases!
>>223182572There has to be some reception issue with all that white noise. Check the cable first, then check the antenna.
Warner Bros is run by people who have no idea what they are doing.
Game of Thrones turning into a flaming pile of shit pretty much broke the will of everyone there. It literally has never been the same since. They should've ignored D&D and GRRM's fatass and gone with the 5 seasons of Rome instead.Atleast we have The Sopranos, Deadwood, and The Wire to enjoy.
>HotD recovering from season 2>Lanterns catching onnot anything really. seems to be the most competently managed streaming service.
>>223182572The prestige era is over. We're in the streaming slop era. Shows are made and almost immediately cancelled to churn through new subscribers.
>>223182713The first season of Rome covered the period people were most interested in and its ratings were on par with the average HBO show with a fraction of its budget lol.
>>223182572Zsaszlav focused more on cost cutting than quality.
>>223182734>HBO are bad because they don't cancel enough showsthis is your brain on Netflix
streaming. pure slop and cancelled shows. mostly money laundering most likely. Also cape shit
>>223182766It still ultimately got cancelled because Game of Thrones was greenlit. Had GOT never came into the picture, Rome would've had a huge budget by the end, and potentially be one of the best TV shows ever made.Shit, the one of the biggest reason execs have become so cancel-happy when a show isn't exceeding all expectations is because GOT crashed so fucking hard. The prestige era of TV was already beginning to come to a close, but GOT accelerated it to the floor.
>>223182766>>223182713also as a longtime HBO fan, Rome was fucking shit. just low-IQ titty-driven trash not worthy of the network, it very much started like late-season Game of Thrones. retards here are not reflective of actual HBO subscribers or the show would have been more successful. and you all have Spartacus to masturbate to.
>Remembering a time when The Sopranos, The Wire, Rome, Deadwood, Entourage, Curb, and Six Feet Under all aired simultaneously
>>223182810>It still ultimately got cancelled because Game of Thrones was greenlitfalse. GoT began development in 2007, the same year Rome was cancelled.
HBO was cool for just some ten years in their entire history.
Chris Albrecht and Carolyn Strauss left. There’s a pretty noticeable nosedive in quality post 2008 which is when they were both gone
>>223182572Women. Many such cases.
>>223182572Sort of a victim of their own success. Always punched above its weight in content though which attracted big corporate players who wanted to it as a luxury asset. Got scooped up a dotcom company, then sold to a phone company, then to a media company, then almost to a tech company, and then finally to another media company.Owning+Operating it has basically lost money for all of those companies so it keeps on being spun off and sold. Theres no reason to think the pattern will stop either.
>>223182572Woke/DEI infestation
Long before the GoT Crash of 2019, it was clear that HBO was in decline. Boardwalk Empire was supposed to be the next Sopranos but it never came close, and was cancelled after its truncated fifth season. Westworld captured everyone's attention with its first season, and then lost everyone's attention with the stupid finale of that same season. True Blood was total garbage from start to finish, regardless of ratings. David Simon shows like Treme and The Deuce came and went without leaving any kind of pop-cultural footprint. The old HBO was dead. The Game of Thrones finale was its funeral service.
>>223182790I think you completely missed the point of what that anon said
>>223182572Inserted softcore porn into everything.
>>223182572COCKSUCKAS
>>223182572They’re in a huge slump and clearly don’t know where the culture is going. They also have no stars. People are so tired of Thrones shit. The Gilded Age is too niche and for the NPR classes. This DEI comic book thing where we’re supposed to hate the white protagonist because he’s white and some black woman “writer” behind the scenes is obsessed with racism… no. All of their big shows are ending, they know über DEI isn’t the way moving forward, but they haven’t decided what direction culture is going in yet. The new Golden Age of tv and film is on the horizon. Maybe it’s time we brought back the studio system, make being a star mean something again, instead of some common thing anyone with a cell phone can do.
>>223182572they focused too much in scifi and capeshit
