>>223186391Yeah the film has a unique pace to it, knowing the characters makes parsing that a lot easier. I don't know if it was his intention or whether or not I'm retarded, but to me at least the flow of the story feels very unique, what it shows and what it doesn't, what you're supposed to infer happening between scenes, how it depicts certain things like Freddie being lethargic during war time. Having that photography scene that shows his inability to assimilate back in with society. It's done in such a smooth way that it went over my head the first time, but there's so much showing rather than telling. Those first 20 minutes are a masterpiece
