What made this movie work that the second one didn't have?
>>

They should have done Super Mario World before doing Galaxy
>>
What made this movie work was that Mario was ritually humiliated by Peach every single second he was on screen. By keeping them separate in the second film, Mario only got humiliated 33% as much.

Your brain is so broken

I love him.
>>

Well, he isn't wrong.
>>
>>223190862
No, you are wrong
>>
>>223190774
They were focused on ramming in as many heckin references as they could, instead of spending time on the story
>>
The first one had whispers of a plot. Galaxy was just full tiktok 10 second attention span adhd candy sugar crack cocaine. Plot was completely secondary to the spectacle... but the spectacle fell flat
>>
>>223190828
This. They really went overboard with the grrlboss crap.
>>
>>223190774
The movie had more Mario screentime and focus.

Mario Galaxy was about Peach rescuing her sister Rosalina (who barely has any lines the movie).

These movies in general seem to care more about Peach than Mario.

First one had zero themes. Second one had themes about family

First one made Mario incompetent. Second one had Mario be more competent.

First one over did it with the licensed music. Second one only has 1 or 2 licensed songs

>but Galaxy is a cameo fest

Movie was meant to be an anniversary celebration of all things Mario. That criticism is lost without the intent.

uh huh huh huh

2nd movie was incoherent and seemed more like a collection of clips
>>
I don't know, I never even finishes the first one it was so bad. I gave up after the Kong sequence, when they inexplicably hop in karts and drive on Rainbow Road. Fucking movie was like a fever dream. Thank Christ I woke up.

It still sucked tho
>>
It didn't work, it was even worse than the second one. At least the second movie threw enough jingling keys at the screen to almost be entertaining, the first movie just blows ass.
>>
>>223190856
what a queer
>>
>>223190774
Both are dog shit. But the first had a slightly better script.
>>
Is the second just Minions tier disposable garbage, or is there anything in it you could even talk about? The first one everybody spent threads talking about Peach shitting on Mario. Wasn't much, but it was something. What's the second movie got?
>>
They're both ass.

Peach is Peach in name and looks only.

Every single scene in the second one is boring. Like, it opens with M&L riding their bikes through some dunes or whatever, and nothing actually happens in the scene. Then there's some yoshi stuff, but all that happens in the entire montage is like it didn't happen? I'm not sure how to articulate it, but the whole thing felt like a fever dream, it didn't seem like any of the characters in any of the scenes were actually characters. or dumb shit like the rosaline fight, you know 100% that it's going to end by her not ACTUALLY losing but by letting herself be captured to protect someone else. you know that from the first second of the scene.

honestly, the only character in the entire movie that felt vaguely like it was actually there was bowser. not that he was a good character or anything, but he at least reacted to what was happening around him in a way that didn't just seem like he had all the agency of a light switch being flicked

really felt like nothing happened in the entire movie. it was a very strange experience.
>>
>>223190793
galaxy had too many characters and brie olson's character is basically just a plot device to run bowser jr's machind
>>
>>223196176

You could debate even her looks. Peach's face on a surface level looks like Peach, to a degree, when it isn't in motion. When she starts animating and her expressions come out though, then she looks wildly off-model
>>
>>223190895
This is the only legitimate reply in the entire thread and it should have ended here.
>>
>>223196355
Yeah. I noticed that in the second movie too. None of them look exactly like they do from the games and I guess that's to be expected. But still...
>>
>>223190856
why did they spoil it?
