I get that Abrams and his orbiters dickride Spielberg like there’s no tomorrow, but in typical cargo cult fashion, they don’t understand what gave Spielberg his magic. Jurassic Park is infinitely better than everything that came after it because the scenario is so believable that it seemed like something that could have really been happening on a secluded island somewhere. You buy into Close Encounters because it’s told from the perspective of an ordinary guy caught up in a secret government operation involving aliens, not because it was set in the seventies. Setting films like this and Super 8 just adds more challenges for the audience’s immersion because given the scale of what’s being presented, the audience has to ignore the fact that they know this shit didn’t happen i stead of just letting them imagine that it’s something that might be happening right now, next week, etc.

This big gave me the biggest fright because it is not just a fearsome animal, it is also cunning enough to do the man a fool. He thinks he have killed it with a hammer, and so do I, but then it spring up and eating him! It was the second nastiest thing I ever seen since Sanjay was unfortunately hit by train until dead.
