What are some tv and movies with actual genius characters?
there aren't anybecause every writer is a retard
a lot of the Sherlock stuff comes directly from the books to be fair, and Benedict Cumberbatch understood the assignment. it's just insufferable hearing that kind of dialogue in a modern context. it works better when it's a bit old-fashioned and characters respond>Why, that's remarkable, Holmes!instead of fast-paced gurning/fawning, the same way they do in the new Dr Who.you can just write a novel where a brilliant scientist does something 'off camera' instead of explaining it all via dialogue/narrative. the ONLY way to write 'geniuses' is to make them quirky characters. we've come full circle to the point Elon Musk does it on purpose, and the only constant factor is that these guys all come off like they have Asperger's.
Elementary was the superior modern adaptation of the IP. The casting director worked on "The Wire" so there are a lot of cameos from characters from that show.
