This was pretty awful. Nowhere near as good at The One. I remember liking a lot in theaters, and the fights are pretty decent, but the "dramatic acting" is just so awful. Bridget Fonda is just so abysmal, in a prostitute sob story, and they give her not just one but two wannabe oscar moment speeches. "My life isn't a fairy tale waaah". They really, really tried to make this some heartfelt "hooker with a heart of gold" story but she's just a nasty druggie streetwalker. And they put a big dragon tattoo on her back like it's supposed to be "exotic" but it's not some authetic yakuza tattoo, it looks like a fucking print on from a capsule machine. Ordinarily I wouldn't even care about the story, no one should in a kung fu flick, but this one really detracts from the overall film.Also they use TONS of those generic clip sound effects from Goldeneye 64. All the "YULP- OOP- OUUWAA!" hurt noises, lol. Probably some wilhelms in there as well. And really terrible ass CG gun and blood effects. Terrible casualty of the 2000s move from practical squibs. At one point a guy throws a grenade in a laundry chute and it literally explodes like a fire effect from an N64 game lmao.Thanks for reading, I know this thread won't get any replies.
Try black mask, its a classic. I remember liking it enough to watch several times, the twin fight was hype as hell to teen me.

I really, really remember a movie with someone fighting a big blond guy who used an obvious "move" like a spinning heel drop or something, and it wrecked the hero the first time, then the second time he caught it and reversed it as the killshot. This movie had that, only it was a backflip escape move that got caught and not an attack. So weird, I can't tell if my memory mutated or if I'm thinking of a totally different movie.
