Secretly a great stage actor
Ed Harris won me over in 'Apollo 13'.You get Ed Harris to yell something in your movie, and its insanely amazing for some reason. Get this fuckers voice to a higher level and its epic.

>>223209529The Abyss deserved an acting Oscar just based entirely on the resuscitation scene alone. Actors doing what they naturally like to do and they're all acting out, etc. Ed is given this very LOUD, acoustic metal neck collar prop that he can fling angrily to one side of the set so it makes a big noise while he screams NOOOOO, etc.
It's Ed Harris. He's wildly underrated
>>223209666You know what, Satan? I gotta agree with you. There was something about how the scene played out and was filmed that felt visceral, like Ed was tapping into something with the exhaustion and the gruelling film shoot that he was in that moment able to draw a performance from deep within. He said to this very day that he is unable to watch The Abyss; imagine working on a movie that gives you PTSD.

Gone too soon.
I only really like one of his films, but his acting is always amazing to me. I feel like he's one of very few modern actors who can play a "normal person protagonist". With this I mean that so many other (especially modern) actors have to make sure that they GET SEEN and GET HEARD as the protagonist, which isn't wrong in itself - and can sometimes be necessary depending on the role - but often leads to over-acting. Ryan Gosling is so much better at having the exact right amount of presence as a protagonist.
Sam Rockwell.
>>223218765Oh yeah that one. He's the only thing that saved the Poltergeist remake from being complete torture.
