Why was this movie so criminally underrated?
it was just kinda bland overall
>>223211076It isn't. It's very fairly rated. But the marketing completely ruins the watching experience by stripping the mystery away entirely. I don't know how I managed to not get anything spoiled before the first time I watched it but I was shocked watching the promotional materials after the fact. What the fuck were they thinking.
It was basically iPhone the movie.
it's absolut kino
>>223211076Because its not underrated. Its extremely mid.
>>223211076Overrated. Mid movie.
>>223211076shit pristine grand designs bougie fart huffing aesthetic
>>223211076It felt flat, I like the movie but there’s little energy to it, sadly what I mean is it’s slop
>>223211076its not even mid, its awful
>>223211076The twist type was too obvious even with the added wrinkle of clones
Too by the numbers. Interesting premise but not interesting enough, cool cinematography but not iconic enough, ok characters and performances but nothing memorable. It's in that category of very decent but forgettable movies that you watched maybe 4 years ago, and then someone just made a 4chan thread about it but the only thing you remember is that you had Fun Feelings while watching it, so you download the 1080p rip again to rewatch it and go through the same thing 4-odd years later.
>>223214037Imagine all the freaky shit the clones of that lady could have gotten up to.
It was refreshingly simple and straightforward. Nicely produced and directed, no prog shit to make it annoying. A simple honest product
>>223211076it's no edge of tomorrow but it'll do in a pinch on a rainy day
>>223211076it was the very best version of that type of generic scifi plot. i love the film but its well trodden ground for normies.
>>223214258>Are you an effective team?No bitch, my balls are so drained cause you gave me 3 clones of this chick and i'm too lethargic to do anything!
>>223214258imagine me being in control of the ship and impregnating 10s of thousands of those female clones and repopulating the planet
>>223211076>Movies that are about to cycle on Prime Video have threads made about themreally activates those almonds
>>223215505stop using pattern recognition
>>223211076Yeah exactly, it really is a shame that they didn't include it.This movie really has potential to be underrated so I hope they think about it more.
>>223211091Fpbp it makes me sleepy
>>223211076drones sound like tortured humans
Were it released today, they would say the script was written by the cheapest Chinese AI-model. Remove Tom Cruise and money from the film, and it becomes a straight-to-DVD thing.
I remember people saying It was scientology propaganda, so I never watched it
>>223214232>Too by the numbers. Interesting premise but not interesting enoughThey got caught up and lost in the weeds of making sure everything looked realistic and forgot about the script. Seriously the making of Oblivion is way more interesting than the movie. I will say the one visual detail they messed up on was the weight of Tom Cruise's raygun because it looks like he's carrying a plastic toy the way he keeps flicking it around like it weighs three ounces.
I literally saw Tom Cruise in person yesterday and I got starstruck like a retard
>>223211076Because it's giant trite cliche where everything that happens is stupid.A pity because music, look and premise are great
>>223217937Movies where the twist is that things are actually LESS than what they seem never work. That shit only works in Scooby Doo.
>>223211076The chick brings it down.
>>223211124Would willingly sell out the human race for this job, toys, and... other perks.
>>223218083done. you'll be paired up with a clone of yourself for all eternity, and your territory would be in india, where you belong.
>underratedreddit word
>>223211076this movie smoked pole, its like a strangely degraded, dollar store version of live die repeat that somehow still has tom cruise
>>223218335based & zooshapilled
>>223211076The girl in it looked hot and then looked like a mega-walled 2/10 in absolutely everything else she was ever in
>>2232202952016 was her last decent year (she did full frontal in a John Leguizamo movie). She's underweight AF after that.
>>223211076it's rated just right, just a regular scifi flick you watch one evening and forget about for the rest of your life
>>223216769>I will say the one visual detail they messed up on was the weight of Tom Cruise's raygun because it looks like he's carrying a plastic toy the way he keeps flicking it around like it weighs three ounces.not to sound reddit but this so much this. it threw me off immediately
>>223211076I really liked it and think it's a great movie but it needed more extraneous and background worldbuilding to make it feel less empty. Even just random shit packed into the background and throwaway shots would have helped
>>223211124The design was the peak of tech.
>>223216346You might be thinking of phenomena with John Travolta, oblivion has nothing to do with scientology.
>>223216346>>223220596>Battlefield Earth
>>223211076I liked the aesthetics of the movie (his cloud house thing and all the alien tech looked neato) but overall it was just 'okay'. It felt like it was missing something from the plot that would have given it that bit more substance and would have made it stick in your mind more:>maybe it could have been more of a character study focusing on the dude, who he is, and how he feels about the whole situation>the crushing loneliness and frustration of only having 1 other human being to talk to>whether he's really himself (i.e. are all clones doomed to be a repeat of their original source) or if he's his own individual. Nature vs nurture kind of shit.It needed to be something similar to Moon without ripping off Moon too hard, or like the good half of I am Legend. Instead it played it too safe and tried to be too much of a regular normie-friendly blockbuster sci-fi and it suffers significantly as a result. Also the sound design on the drones was cool as fuck.
