i think especially back then it was hard to see hobo anal rape coming. he got the slip on a lot of guys and they were fighting from a disadvantage. he also rolled a lot of drunks. apparently he also had a lot of strength from doing hard labor. i would say my outlook is not good. if you're fighting back and it goes bad for you, at a certain point you might be faced with one of the toughest decisions a man has to face: do i maybe get permanently blinded or maimed or killed, or do i give up and get bummed?
