The human characters were more obnoxious than usual in this one but aside from that, yeah, I really dug the whole treating it as if they were just observing nature and seeing the crazy shit that giant monsters got up to. I do also have to admire that it set a lifelong precedent that Godzilla can only be a stepfather to some random fucking Godzilla shaped thing he found and never actually be a parent that has kids, 90's American movie notwithstanding of course.

the human story is fine enough, Ebirah was the better island adventure though. but i do like how its the only movie where we really get to see godzilla just hanging out

I never watched it back then because I thought it'd be too silly, as if godzilla movies aren't silly in the first place.
I understand my hypochrisy now but I won't watch it now because I think it'll just be a waste of time and I'm better off doomscrolling.
