Topology makes me feel funny.
It's like little objects scattered around a daycare full of alien children with an IQ of 400.

It's the simplest thing in existence. Literally. You can't get more nondescript than classifying everything that's closed and continuous by whether it's literally impossible to transform it into anything else.

It's like the ABCs of something that sits between mathematics and calculus and real physical objects you can hold in your hand. And it took humanity about 3500 years to come up with it.

The definition of a topology seems pretty random when you first read it, providing just enough structure to be interesting but not so much as to eliminate its broad usefulness.
