I was thinking, if you could come back as a force ghost then what do you think it would take for you to appear? In the movies they just get summoned up for victory bonfires or when it's pivotal to the plot. So what would other people have to be doing for you to show up as a force ghost?

Sex

Apparently not your nephew going ape-shit and undoing your legacy
>>
As a spirit of the force you can literally appear any time you want to
these jerks choose to appear during Ewok celebrations and shit

Disney wars isn't canon.
Only the EU and OT are canon.

What if force ghosts of dudes from the civil war could show up now. They'd be so fucking racist

Obi-Wan becomes a ghost because his physical body disappears and he manifests himself as a ghost instead. the same thing happens with Obi-Wan.

Lucas' cope for Vader was that he also disappeared and the funeral pyre was just them ceremonially burning his armour.

then, Qui-Gon didn't disappear in The Phantom Menace so i guess that means he can't become a ghost. the Revenge of the Sith deleted scene HINTS at it (but he could also just be a voice or something?). but of course Disney have now decided Qui-Gon is, in fact, a ghost too.

so they had a consistent pattern, one little quibble that was resolved, then some ambiguity, now intentional and unnecessary contradiction for all of it. great worldbuilding guys. now, i'm looking forward to characters showing up as ghosts before they've even died.

Yoda* derp

Luke already did that. He was a hologram before he died. That's basically a ghost.

Obi force voice came in occasionally. I think you answered your own question? Ad hoc?

A force projection whatever the fuck. Also get

The ghosts just represented Luke's connection to the force. When you die you become one with the force and Luke with a strong connection to the force can more directly communicate with it.

The question is what moments do you view as being pivotal enough to things you played a role in or were relevant to or just made up on the fucking spot because it would be funny resulting in you appearing as a force ghost to intervene or congratulate someone.

if you pay close attention to this scene, The Emperor is also a gigantic ghost.

he shrunk himself down and added colour to his cheeks for the next film, so he could fit comfortably into his Star Destroyer throne (and look good doing it.)

I already corrected myself man. He was projecting the image of himself through the force though so that's totally like conjuring a force ghost.

That probably makes the most sense. Only certain people see them. But then who do you think would be tuned into your soul enough to see you after you died?

i'm just being a silly sausage, anon.

but tbfair if we have to break the Force down to vidya/RPG style 'powers', and shit, just the mechanics and the visuals of Force Projection is different to a Force Ghost. he's sat there meditating, alive, he's in full-colour, etc. hell it seems like the ghosts can sometimes interact physically with their environment, whereas Luke's projection can't?

at any rate i took it that it was just some thing he could do. if it was some known power from a textbook, then there's a good chance it wouldn't be this battle of wits and Kylo Ren would say
>A-ha, Luke! I may not be able to Force Project(TM) myself, but I recognise the tells of a Force Projection when I see one!

this is the type of weird shounen anime power shit a lot of Star Wars fans want, for some reason.

It did remind me of a shadow clone too. His special deus ex jutsu. But it was still retarded of him to even use the move that kills him for no reason in the first place. There have to have been a dozen other things he could've done that wouldn't have killed him. He just wanted to try out his latest aura farming technique and it backfired.
