Chance would be a fine thing
>I'm ugly that's my entire comedic identity
>>223220116turn your monitor on
>>223220022A fine thing indeed!
Goethe didn't have a moustache, it's a pretty embarrassing failure of knowledge on Mark's part.
>>223220022Could someone who is more experienceder with English explain this saying? Change would be a fine thing. What does that mean?
>>223220116>jeff's doing a joke
>>223220166You tell me
>>223220166It would be nice if things just happen to work out for the best.
the last beamer out of saigon
>>223220166The joke is that its not a common phrase. Mark is nervous and anxious and says this sort of nonsense sentence when asked a question, then people keep asking him questions he doesn't know how to answer, and he keeps saying it. He realizes after the second or third time how weird it sounds but he doesn't know what's happening and he's scared, and he keeps saying it instead of saying something helpful or normal
>>223220680Mark has undiagnosed autism?
>Im brooming you, Jeff. I’m giving you the broom
>>223220116That's all British comedians.
Right in their fucking goal hole.
>>223220166Chance, as in, luckIt basically means>some luck would be nice
>>223220239freak
>>223220116>im ugly>i play an ugly characterAND??
>>223220166"A chance would be a fine thing" is a response to something being suggested that is desirable but highly unlikely>Are you and her dating?>Heh, a chance would be a fine thingIt's kind of self deprecating>>223220680It is a common phrase though
>>223220116Comedy characters should be ugly
>>223220248So u don't know?
Did someone in this thread try to have me sectioned?
>>223221259'fraid so
>>223220116his comedic identity is having obvious undiagnosed autism.
Should i watch Peep Show if i haven’t watched it before? I enjoy good comedy.
>>223220730David Mitchell has undiagnosed autism, man. Have you seen him in anything?
>>223220022It was a joke, Mark.
>pick up phrase>use it once>use it repeatedly>realise you're saying it too often>get self-conscious and try to stopliterally me
There's nothing wrong with being autistic
>>223221635Yes it the best sitcom ever made. The seasons are short but the last few get reddity
>>223221970was he?
my fellow Gen Z who obsess over this show are always the most obnoxiously middle class wetties, so much so they've ruined it for me
>>223221895Damn even better than Seinfeld or TPB (s1-7)? Guess i got still kino ahead of me then.
>>223222233I was thinking if it was too dated with it’s 2000s era lifestyle but i guess not if zoomers obsess over it.
>>223220022>What else should I do after I piss myself? Eat myself? Fuck myself?
>>223220821Nah, all British comedians go>we all went on the same university, joined the same fraternity and now we have the same political opinions and are paid by the same people>funny, innit?
>>223220116He's also awkward and neurotic
>>223222244S2-S4 clear any other comedy show for me. S1 is alright but bit of a rough start and S5 onward take on a gay Britlib vibe that’s pretty lame, still some funny moments throughout though.
