Good Sam used humor as a tool to cope with the absurdity of life. Nu-bad Sam uses humor and being "funny" as a vehicle for being a non stop seething frothing at the mouth lunatic. Sam seemed to get this bizarre idea in his head and I don't know when or why that he could be some force for positive change or something. And he has such sunk cost in this idea that he keeps doubling down on it. You can't be both a comedian and an activist.
