LA Confidential is a great, great movie but it's barely discussed here in /tv/
>>
>>223221496
>Dude police le corrupt
Theres nothing good about it
>>
good acting but everything else is shit
>>
I can't really remember it but I really liked it.
>>
>>223221496
I actually think the opposite and that it's overrated, one of the weaker neo-noirs I've watched
>>
crime fiction like Ellroy is the best genre for adaptation. rich characters, fun plots, and great dialogue, but not considered such classics that a Hollywood version would be sacrilege.

cope
>>
>>223221496
Boring, generic cop movie and Basinger is twenty years too old for the character she's playing. Only bright spots are Kevin Spacey and James Cromwell.
>>
>>223221646
More like cop
>>

In the movie's defense it cut out a lot of the bullshit weirdness of the novel, like everyone passing Inez the rape victim around, Pierce Patchett being a 90-year-old martial arts master and plastic surgeon who makes himself look 20, the Disneyland serial killer bullshit, the Jewish gangster in prison, Bud's partner getting executed on death row...
>>
Based shotgun ed
That scene is actually great

>>
>>223221496
it's alright but it's about as generic as a detective noir story could possibly be
>>
it’s two good movies somewhat clumsily taped together
>>
>>223221510
Nah, it's a solid 9/10
>>
This movie's great, only thirdies hate it because the entire cast is white and their racism is shown to be objectively correct.

they should've been commie haters and racists as well
>>
>>223221496
nothing to say, it's not deep but its great. once its over its over.
>>
>>223221755
Ellroy typically veers of the deep end with numerous instances of incest, mutilation, and other sexually deviant acts
>>
>>223221496
Did we ever find out who Rollo Tomaso was?

imo, its most likeiest it was one of those niggers in that house that died but since he dindu confess we may never know
>>
>>223221496
That´s because /tv/ is full of tasteless normies that would rather discuss capeshit, box offices and social issues. Actual cinema is hardly discussed outside the one art/foreign film thread and even old blockbusters get consistently attacked and disregarded by low IQ idiots.

You can quote me on that. And remember, it´s Smith, with an S.
>>
>>223221496
for me it's the trivia bout Crowe finding a scrub to live in to enlarge his mental penis state
>>
>>223221496
What was the purpose of Kim Basingers character? I remember she was supposed to be Marilyn Monroe or someone but didn't prostitute herself enough or whatever it was and then the movie went away and turned out to be more action than romance so it bore me off and don't recall anything after.
>>
>>223223798
she prostituted herself as much as was possible? maybe you should watch the film
>>
>>223221496
wadda u wnna discuss??? its a nice technical movie.. but it has no emotions at all. u don't care for anything other than the riddle and once its shown the whole gets pointless to ponder bout
>>
>>223223817
what? I don't remember any nudie shots of basinger?? maybe some legs.. but her fake wig was too distracting. u tellin me shed spread her legs in the movie??? when, at the end??
>>
>>223223732
r u callin me a tasteless normie if I was told to u I hadn't watched the movie your talk bout?
>>
Kevin Spacey was so hot in this movie!

this movie is now older than the movie it homages to was when it was released back in 1995
>>
>>223223987
>30>2
Yeah, that's correct, though I'm actually surprised you got that right!
>>
I only remember the faggot with semen in his tummy
>>
