How did gen x not die of cringe watching this movie?
>>
kill yourself
>>
What's cringe about it? I'm curious to know
>>
>>223221753
not a single person of color
>>
>>223221726
They recognized movies and tv shows were just that, not anything to live and die by.
>>
>>223221753
Idk how to describe it just seems like the chunnibiyo of america.
>>
>Men in black
>Matrix
>This
Was this style ever actually in?
>>
>>223221786
i don't know what the fuck that means
>>
They're not even competent, it's the opposite of try hard
>>
>>223221726
It's cringe but also cool because it's a bunch of old guys who look goofy but are actually badass killers you don't want to mess with.
>>
>>223221726
Coolest tarantuno movie
>>
>>223221803
Blues Brothers
Yes, anon, black is always in fashion, especially for men.
>>
>>223221764
Or womyn
>>
Test too low?
>>
>>223221820
>who look goofy but are actually badass killers you don't want to mess with
thats the cringe part. Its like tarantino and the audience actually see themselves like this.
>>
>>223221726
This reminds me of a dude I used to know who worked at the local newsagent at my shopping centre. Wore a black and white suit with skinny tie every day. It was weird as fuck. Went food shopping in it, to the movies in it, even the pub. He didn't seem autistic either... Weird dude tho
>>
>>223221872
Barney stinston?
>>
I wish Trantual would`ve just stick to the resovoir dog/pulp fiction style. Those were good movies, everything else feels like a soulless rip off
>>
>>223221906
Kill bill are the only actual cool ones
>>
>LARRY, STOP POINTING THAT FUCKING GUN AT MY DAD
>>
>>223221726
You are now in charge of hiring a crew to rob a jewelry shop. How do you vet the team, knowing they will go all the way if push comes to shove? Short of making each member murder an innocent person because that's cheating
>>
>>223221969

this is an actual example of gen x cringe
>>
>>223222009
Literally all these movies look the same. I forgot blade. Also don't remember if underworld has sunglasses.
>>
>>223221993
But you hadn't done criminal shit with that person before you did. So how did you trust them?
>>
>>
>>223222048
You don't, anon. You look into what they've done or have other guys vouch. All the other guys knew Joe for years.

>>223221786
>Chūnibyō is a Japanese colloquial term typically used to describe adolescents with delusions of grandeur.
what does that have to do with the movie?
>>
>>223221753
Trying too hard. Unironically insisting upon itself.
>>
>>223221809
>>223222152
If you don't understand the term then just don't respond. This movie is absolutely what an 8th grader with an overactive imagination would envision as "cool crime" while a normal adult would be confused as to why these guys are all doing a Men in Black group cosplay and what utility that actually serves them
>>
>>223222193
>doesn't know costumes make you look at the clothing rather than the person
>>
Joe screwed up hard. Orange ratting on Pink in the opening scene made it obvious
>>
You know whats the most cringy part about this movie? When tarantino smiles in the opening. At least that one where he put a foot in his mouth I can respect in a weird way.
>>
>>223221726
>>223222009
There's nothing cringe dressing like this if you're fit and/of have a good facial struxture. Actual cringe would be millenial ironic hipster culture where they dressed like lumberjacks or pedophile stereotypes in bright clothes, huge glasses and with poorly trimmed facial hair.
>>
>>223221969
An undercover cop will need to maintain contact with a handler and keep them apprised of the situation. If you have your guys under close observation, you should be able to catch that cop keeping his appointment or making a drop-off or whatever. Maybe the best way would be to send them all to some kind of country resort for a while, tell them it's a training exercise, and absolutely forbid them to leave the premises until permission is granted. If someone tries to sneak out in the middle of the night, he's your cop.
>>
>>223221753
Because it's Gen X! Because I'm a millennial I hate GenX!
>>
>>223222272
There was nothing inherently cringe about fedoras and yet here we are.

>>
>>223222347
Oh yea? they why don't they just use face coverings instead of some 5D psychological chess?

they are using "face coverings." that's what the sunglasses do.

>>
>>223222469
Ok bro I'm done talking to you

Are you really such a child mentally that you get confused if you see a group of men wearing suits? Imagine if your dumbass ever went to a formal event, I bet you would think it was a giant Men in Black convention, huh?
>>
>>223222461
Is the joke that they're all named after colors? or is the joke you're brown
>>
>>223222465
why do you keep trying to present mundane things as crazy or strange? wearing a suit is not "a larp session in cosplay." men wear suits all the time.
>>
>>223221726
This movie sucks. I love how people have to go into detail and explain why it's allegedly a good movie.
>>
>>223222512
Nta but they're all wearing black ties (and white shirts) even in "black tie only" events people ignore the rules and you see some variety. Doesn't help that they all have sunglasses and similar haircuts. Also that posture.

Keitel was good but tim roth and michael madsen's """"acting"""" was embarrassing

Inglourious Basterds is his best though?

why is it a problem that a group of men decided to wear suits?

It's fun.
To be fair, it's only cringe now because we know what a horrendous fucking autist Tarantino actually is. If you don't know anything about him, or that this is genuinely what he thinks is cool, the film is quite good as a satirical throwback
>>
>>223222755
>why is it a problem that a group of men decided to wear suits?
It reminds this generation of alienated fags that they are dressing like ridiculous slobs (men) or cheap whores (women). And that pisses them off...
>>
>>223221969
Just hire like 20 young black guys to do it. It will be called a youth takeover or something and they can literally just walk in,smash and loot the place in broad daylight and absolutely no one will do a thing to stop them, otherwise they might get called a racist or something.

It's one of those separate the art from the artist situations.

I can still think of him as a goof while this is some of the best bit of dialogue I've heard in any movie
>>
wrt the outfits being identical, there are obvious benefits, eg they can recognize one another in the chaos but the cops/witnesses will have a harder time telling them apart/tracking their movements etc, or even ascertaining how many perps there were since you don't know if you're seeing multiple people or the same guy twice. the columbine guys wearing those trenchcoats, for example, resulted in witnesses thinking there was more than two of them. this is clearly some kind of rule they have for heists similar to the color codenames etc, perfectly understandable in the context of the movie even if they don't spell it out.

notice how you keep trying to force nonsensical associations between the film and undesirable groups (cosplayers, theatre kids) instead of just explaining what the problem is, even when asked directly. that's because you don't actually have an explanation, you're just sperging out about the movie for no rational reason.
>>
>>223221726
It was the 90s though. I graduated highschool in 94, and between this and Pulp Fiction, and Gwen Stefani, and Alanis, and later the Rap/Rock shit like Limp Bizkit and Sum41, you had a blueprint for cool. It may be cringe to you, but for us Gen X'ers, it was the epitome of class and awesomeness.

It's like how we looked at our parent's generation of Elvis/Beatles/Brady Bunch/Partridge Family and thought it was lame.

Now you look at our generation and think our cool was "Cringe". One day people will watch your stuff and your music and call it cringe too.

People like a bunch of funny dudes riffing and joking, people like action scenes... yeah it tries too hard, but... not TOO too hard. And I don't mind if a movie tries hard to entertain me, it's better than the opposite.

But you're right, crime is a very cliched genre, and it is cringe when the actor can't play a convincing criminal (like ~90% of them)... even as badass as they are, Madsen and Keitel seem more like officers than criminals, they're just too smart and poised

Freddie is a great role, although I wonder if Keanu or Matt Broderick could've played it. The movie is sort of a Boomer-Gen-X team up movie and it focuses on the level of cultural sophistication of the characters in a funny way. Some are sort of culturally inebriated.

>freaks and weirdos wear coordinated outfits.
the primary association with coordinated outfits, for a normal person, isn't "freaks and weirdos" (where are you even seeing those?), it's work uniforms. that's what's being conveyed, that they are professionals going to work. the pragmatic benefits of the outfits have already been explained. there is no "subtext that they're wannabes," they are not wannabes in the movie, they are exactly what they claim to be, with the obvious exception of the undercover cop. you are just being a sperg trying to rationalize the weird sperg reaction you had to a detail in a movie.

yes they do, the same authority that got them all together and forced them to use those codenames presumably also mandated the dress code. did you even watch the movie? the guys that aren't directly participating in the heist don't wear those suits. it's specifically for the job.

I know a lot of criminals you literally can't trust any of them to not snitch, or be an informant, or be wearing a wire. It's just the risk you take when doing criminal shit. All of the no snitching shit is pure unadulterated bullshit that is constantly spewing out of these guy's mouths. They all sing like canaries, the biggest toughest gangsters you know tell everything to the cops and feds. The only real way to insure you get away with a crime is to be the only person that knows you committed the crime. That means you rob the shop alone, when it's closed in the dead of the night, mask and gloves on. But then you have to sell the stolen jewelry, which means you'll have to do it a few states away and even then there's a chance it can still be traced back to you if someone gets caught wearing or selling or pawning stolen shit. Just don't commit a crime and get a normal job instead. Lot of amazing things to do in life besides commit crimes. Wear a condom, pay your taxes, and be a square, and you'll be free of wasting your life in prison surrounded by the stupidest people you'll ever meet.
