The I, Robot movie is set in the year 2035. It has fully functional humanoid robots with extremely advanced AI and they can do almost anything we do

Technology is at the diminishing returns stage. You will probably have a smartphone with like 5000 GB of ram in the year 2040 and it won't be much different than the one you're using right now

Also half the reason you watch buffy was for the very convincing texas-switches where buffy suddenly gains 30lbs of muscle and her hair turns into a bad wig.
