But I bet the writers are running out of ideas. What storyline ideas do you have for the epic pickle man show?

morty get ipad

>>223223854
It's a show about space and alternate realities, there's literally infinite episode ideas available to them, and also decades of sci-fi tropes to ape.
>>
>>223225081
yeah infinite character growth amirite?
so many funny hijinks coming up you dont wanna miss this

This show peaked with the point and click adventure game on the adult swim website.

>Season 10
I forgot this show existed, christ i'm old.
>>
>>223223854
Here's an idea:
The main schlemiel of the series, Jerry, accidentally turns himself into a pickle while searching for something in Rick's garage and has to survive an entire episode.
>>
>>223223854
i've enjoyed this show since it started, but I will never fucking ever tell that to anyone I know

That actually does sound good. Jerry centric episodes are actually some of the best.

Hi James. I know.

nice try, but you've only prolonged this thread's life by a few minutes and soon my secret will die with it

I didn't watch this show until I was in my 40s. First couple seasons are great, then everything after that is boring.

the okiemon style mobile game was pretty good.

It is. And the fanmade remake is longer than The Lord of the Rings book series, with over 130 erotic scenarios.
>>
>>223223854
The series has officially been greenlit to Season 12 with a movie in the works. While we all agree the show lost its identity in Season 3 and has been floundering since, I believe that the show has been improving for the past couple of seasons. Season 9 is the best season since 3. They’ve said they have the next few seasons mapped out, if they can maintain S9s level or better it’ll be fine.
>>
>>223230203
It is ridiculously long kek. Surprisingly well made for such a game. And some fun character arcs
>>
>>223223854
This is the exact kind of gay and retarded image I expect from the average Rick and Morty fan.
>>
>>223230296
Came for Summer, stayed for Morticia and Tricia. Surprisingly accomplished eroge.
>>
>>223223854
The ongoing story is only a bonus for me I don’t really care about it. To me good Rick and Morty is all about the episode concepts.
>>
>>223223854
Time travel stuff got teased a few times this past season. I think Evil Morty could get ahold of some unaccountable time tech and they can do a back to the future 2 episode through previous episodes. That would also be the natural place to pick up with Time God Jessica.
>>
>>223225332
Characters don't actually change in R&M. There was a whole multiple season fakeout of Rick going to therapy, but in this last season is just as much of an abusive alcoholic as ever. They even showed that he still uses slave labor (infinite vodka flask)
I have no doubt that he would abandon the entire family and universe (including Morty prime) if he felt he had do.
>>
>>223230576
Yes and no. Characterization changes dramatically as some seasons focus more on certain aspects than others, but development is very subtle.
>>
>>223223854
Characters actually growing. But they're not going to do that.
>>
>>223225948
Been pretty bad since S3. I watched S3E1 and gave up after that.
>>
>>223230601
They kinda already broke the show by changing the characters if anything they need to regress especially Morty.
>>
>>223229728
They got invaded by women writers in S3 and you can tell
>>
>>223230601
Dumbest answer imaginable.
>>
>>223230620
Last season I saw was eight which maintained the status quo so I'm not sure what you mean by the show broke by changing the characters.
>>223230652
Don't be retarded.
>>
S2 > S1 > Powergap > S3 > S9 > S8 = S7 > S6 > Powergap > S4 > S5
>>
>>223230658
Rewatch the early show and tell me that Morty, Summer and Rick are still the same characters.
Rick went from wacky drunk science grandpa to smartest man in the universe bugs bunny god to somewhere in the middle of those two things. Morty went from innocent optimist horndog into Rick Jr. cynic into halfway between those two. The reason everybody likes Rick and Jerry episodes is because modern Jerry is basically S1-2 Morty. Summer went from teen girl domestic stereotype to drugchasing Rick wannabe.
>>
>>223230658
>I watch rick and morty for "character growth"
There is something seriously, deeply wrong with you.
>>
>>223230601
Almost happened in S3 before Harmon assumed direct control.
>>223230827
NTA. Characterization issue are one of the biggest reasons why the show got so bad in the middle seasons. We’re long past “Morty learns to love science and get smart” or anything but the show has wrestled over how their dynamic feels and it would be nice if they tried to make Morty shine again.
>>
>>223230827
I watch [television and film] to be entertained. I am entertained by character growth. I told you not to be retarded.
>>223230733
As of 8x10, Summer is still a teenage girl who cares about teenage girl things. Morty is a teenage boy who cares about teenage boy things. Beth has problems with her father that unresolved. Jerry is a loser.
>>223230880
>Almost happened in S3 before Harmon assumed direct control.
Preaching to the choir.
>>
>>223223854
>running out of ideas
The premise is limitless realities, they have at least 30 seasons without even trying.
>>
>>223230893
If you are very reductive about how those aspects are presented differently between the early show and the modern show, then sure you can say that they are the same. Nobody is unrecognizable.
>>
>>223230733
>Morty went from innocent optimist horndog into Rick Jr. cynic into halfway between those two.
NTA but character development bad?
>>
>>223230893
You're a deranged idiot who thinks making an explicitly silly scifi parody show into a character drama is a good idea because breaking bad was entertaining or whatever. You're completely fucked in the head and retards like you ruin everything they touch.
>>
>>223225081
This
Futurama was the same way. They can literally do whatever they want
>>
>>223230952
No character development is not inherently bad, but it did break the dynamic of the show when Morty stopped being the perspective character and it became Rick Sanchez: The Animated Series featuring different flavors of Rick. Season 6 and on have walked some of that back but the dynamic between the duo is still not as engaging as it used to be.
>>
>>223230933
It's not reductive to state a fact. The reason this show popped off from season 2 to s3e01 is because people really liked watching an adult animated show about a guy who cannot reconcile that infinite realities means he can't let himself get close to his family because he feels they don't matter, but he keeps trying. We see each character changed by his presence as the show goes on, and the best it gets is flashes of this in season 3 i.e. Summer spearheading springing Rick, Morty disabling the neutrino bomb or whatever it's called, Beth and Jerry's divorce, etc. But as of season 4 the show stopped being about Rick trying to get close to his family and became just another adult animated show, and it never stopped doing that. The writing can be good, and the show is never not entertaining (except for the Numericons episode that was utter dogshit and even then the father incest joke makes me laugh) but the reset back to the status quo got really boring.
>>223230960
I have never watched Breaking Bad, I do not think Rick and Morty should be a drama. I told you not to be retarded. You're like a little kid, lacking any critical thought in great waves.
>>
>>223230161
More like point and DICK
>>
>>223231029
>We see each character changed
Yes.
>>
>>223231029
Numbericons is underrated. The real worst episode in the series is How Poopy got his Poop Back.
>>
>>223231047
If you're going to be retarded save me the trouble so we can cease this exchange.
>>223231086
Oh fuck you're right I forgot about that. That is definitely worse. Even the title should have been "How Poppy got his Butt Back".
>>
>>223231110
It’s not retarded to restate your fact. The characters have developed around the show’s shifted priorities in S3, and then afterwards season by season as the show reconciles with the lower enthusiasm for the new direction and tries to find its identity again (not quite S1-2, but a third thing). I’d put the show into three distinct eras, not two. It’s also not as static as you claim, though it is slower than it was early on.
>>
>>223231189
I'm willing to meet you in the middle, then: Rick and Morty's interest in character growth has waned significantly since seasons 2 and 3 to the point that the show become really fucking boring for me and thus a season 10 is not exciting news. I heard season 9 was p. good but I'm sure it's the same as 8 with some reset to the status quo in there somewhere.
>>
>>223231302
That’s fine.
S9 isn’t huge on the development front looking at S8, I think it got Morty (heck, everybody) better most of the time, Jerry got a minor status quo change, etc. but nothing huge.
Really the good feedback comes from a consistently good batch of episodes and no major fumbles. The worst episode is just okay. I’m happy the show has steadied the ship but I can appreciate that it isn’t exciting to you.
>>
>>223231488
If it helps promote any goodwill here, this is my favorite Rick and Morty joke
>Rick: Hey, it’s a good thing that space outlet had labcoats and your favourite kind of shirt in stock, huh Morty?
>Morty: Yeah, Rick. I-I heard you the first time. You don’t have to keep saying it over and over and over.
