Such a fun movie, too bad they didn't adapt the other books

I loved the books and movie as a teenager, never listened to the original radio broadcasts though. I was a fedora edgelord at that point in time though, I wonder if I’d hate these going back to them.

I love this movie. Such a unique vibe. I always wanted more from it as a kid. Just keep the adventure going! Show me more aliens and planets! The vogon planet was fascinating and ive daydreamed about it for decades.

I enjoyed it and I don't know why they didn't make more. Great casting too, other than Mos Def which kind of took me out of the vibe. Otherwise, great depiction of at least a peek into that universe, and probably the closest we'll ever get to a sincere high budget version of HGTTG. If they ever try to remake it, it'll be the typical mess from modern writer's rooms. Early 2000s really was a magical time. Technology got good enough to make great things, but it was before all the BS that sapped the joy out of everything and made it into a lecture of some sort.

I dont mind the things it added (i assume made up) that werent in the books. The point of view gun was fun.

Trillian was always white. She had a dark complexion (described as looking vaguely like an Arab) in the novelisation, but that applies to plenty of white Britons ("black Irish" and "black Welsh" are real things, and they don't actually imply non-white ancestry, though in the 19th century myths arose trying to connect them to marooned sailors from the Spanish Armada). Her real name is literally Tricia McMillan, which implies Celtic ancestry. In the TV adaptation from the early '80s she was a blonde, American bimbo, and Zoey Deschanel was at least a significant upgrade from that, even though a British actress would have been better.

Ford being played by a black, muslim, American rapper was 100% bullshit, though.

Worse, however, was not allocating enough budget for Zaphod's second head and third arm. And the most unforgivable change of all from the original radio series and books was making Arthur and Trillian an item. The romance of Arthur and Fenchurch is my favorite part of the entire series, so I hated the influx of Arthur X Trillian shippers the movie brought to the fandom.

As a fan of the books (except for Mostly Harmless) and the TV series (despite the miscasting of Trillian), I loved the original radio version. I've never listened to the radio adaptations of the later novels, but I've heard that the fifth and six radio series are generally held to represent improvements from Mostly Harmless and And Another Thing. The LPs of the first series (which are different from the radio version) are solid, too.

I liked it when it came out in theaters. About a year later I bought it, but I haven't watched it in at least 15 years. Probably never going to, desu

It's a good movie though. Even Ford. Mos Def is funny in this movie.
