It's over. Any book worth a fuck does not take 15+ years to do. Whatever he does churn out, if by some miracle he does finish it, will be a collection of ideas he stitched together over the near two decades he was fussing over this shit pile and he just polished them up some to get the book out the door before the buttered lobster does him in. The problem with leaving it so long is that many of us have forgotten the details of the sprawling narrative. I know there are hardcore fans who revisit the series every year, but most of us read A Dance with Dragons ten years ago and left it at that. The last two books added new POV characters and red herrings and so many superfluous legs and tails it is difficult to keep track of it all, especially after the long hiatus. If Winds ever does come out, I would have to read the whole series again to refresh my memory and catch up with the tale. And I don't think I'm willing to do that. Probably most people aren't willing.
He could probably write faster and think more clearly if he weren't being gangstalked.
